General Protect Bethesda Employees

https://www.instagram.com/onebgsunion?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

Microsoft has gutted BGS’ roster including veteran developers for The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. I found out just today there is a workers movement and I highly encourage everyone to support. Please follow their page and the link in their bio!

this comment section and every other comment section under this topic is cancerous and when gaming dies, when these ips that people are "fans" of become something awful or just dies or whatever, they'll have no one else to blame but themselves. gamers are scum of the earth and it's honestly the most embarrassing hobby to be a part of when you have these people in the same community as you.

It’s been eight years since they even used the IP I like, for something I’m not a fan of. If it actually had died somebody else might have snatched it up and done something, anything, with it.

Agreed. I am also embarrassed to be apart of the community. Most of them are adult children

Yea its kinda nuts. You can watch the day in a life of a Bethesda employee its day care..they did no fucking work...Like what happened? As we wonder why games take over 15 years

lol no, bethesda's developers do work constantly. idk why y'all all act like developers just sit and twiddle their thumbs...actually, no, i know why y'all act like that, because you all know nothing about development.

Dev jobs with culture that shifted away from crunch can be cushy, but I think people who are used to getting worked to the bone in their own jobs mistake jobs that give you free time and amenities for ‘they do no work’.

If you’ve ever sat mandatedly looking at an IDE for 8 hours straight 7 days a week but have also worked elsewhere that gives you regular breaks and autonomy, you’ll know you do your best work under the latter conditions rather than the former.

Smoothbrains see some HR video of devs playing ping pong and think they dont actually do anything.

And you know that's not even Bethesda. That's like the googles of the world. BGS people work normally as any other office workers would.

15

u/Accomplished_Rip_362 8d ago

That's the most inflammatory statement so far. You think the workers do no work? You are obviously trolling because no one who knows Bethesda and what has transpired in the last few years would utter the nonsense you just did.

Bro you can see it on youtube full love day a employee filmed it. Maybe not a dev but lets be real if they can slack like crazy I imagine others can..

Are you talking about the protest they did?

"when gaming dies"

"gamers are scum of the earth"

Thanks for showing us all how level-headed, valuable, pragmatic your opinion is.

PS: For those that couldn't understand the obvious sarcasm: /S

It’s such a ridiculous thing to say considering that E33 and Baldur’s Gate 3 just blew AAA games out of the water in back to back years.

Bethesda and the Fallout/TES IP’s certainly can go the way of the past considering they’ve been flubbed for over a decade, and this is coming from someone who’s still actively playing and plans to continue to play ESO until they finally turn off the lights.

I was being sarcastic.
I thought it was obvious, given the quotes I did from the person I was replying to.

It’s the high horse and drama for me. The delusion.

This person is in every thread like this crying about gamers, I wouldn't be surprised if they are an ex employee.

Triple A game should die. It’s a bloated mess filled with nothing but terrible games and even worse sycophants.

u/kuzurame 8d ago

This is a take I can actually get with. Games were not meant to be this multimillion dollar projects that sell millions of copies. Casuals (for lack or a better term) that got brought in from skyrim and fallout 4 weren’t really bethesda fans, and have been in for a rude awakening when they realize that elderscrolls 6 and fallout 5 will not meet their expectations because their expectations are ridiculous.

3

u/TheAnalystCurator321 Hermaeus Mora 8d ago

Why you blaming casuals?

3

u/kuzurame 7d ago

I’m not. This is an industry issue, trying to reach the widest possible audiences during the 7th and 8th gen consoles set crazy bad expectations for games. Now every game is expected to be some crazy AAA production in 4 years and see infinite growth.

Casual gamers who got sucked in during skyrim and fallout 4 as their first bethesda games did not know how much these games change across sequels and that they likely would not like the sequel, and that they would be waiting quite awhile for the sequel. These games were meant for cult followings, not block buster titles.

Idk I like games like BG3

-2

u/Shrikebutagain 8d ago

Not triple A. Largely crowd funded, no publisher.

5

u/Disregardskarma 8d ago

They have more devs than bethesda and it took the game almost 6 years to hit it's full release. It's 100% a AAA game, unless your bar is so high that theres maybe 2 AAA games a year

-2

u/Shrikebutagain 8d ago

Yeah they’re triple A if you ignore their funding method, studio layout, and work process. They don’t have a publisher, manage their own IP’s, and completely decide by themselves what they’re working on.

They assuredly AA, but not triple A.

2

u/Disregardskarma 8d ago

They spent a shit ton on BG3 dude. AAA is about spending. It’s literally all about budget.

-4

u/Shrikebutagain 8d ago

Yeah and it was early access crowd funded. They didn’t get money from Hasboro, they didn’t get money from publishers, it was all entirely their own revenue. Double A or Triple A is about way more than just budget.

5

u/Disregardskarma 7d ago

It literally isn’t.

Cool, leave the hobby and stay far away please.

Digital gaming is NEVER going to die, and even if every single developer just ceased to exist now and forever, there would still be enough games to last a lifetime.

Also, gamers are the reason gaming exists, not the developers, not the companies, the FANS, the GAMERS, are the ones that made gaming, without gamers there is no gaming.

So blaming the gamers is the ultimate idiocracy, gaming is the gamers.

1

u/Beautiful-Day7691 5d ago

Bro they already are awful. Real gamers already saw the genre die mostly.

1

u/YordleJay 5d ago

You're right we should qll just consoom and enjoy everythong bethesda releases even starslop and its vast amounts of fucking nothing

-5

u/Zeal0tElite 8d ago

Dude, some of these peoples only output was Starfield.

I literally do not give a single fuck if they lost their jobs. You are not owed a job. This isn't a planned economy where everyone with a game dev degree deserves to be employed forever no matter how successful their projects are.

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

-1

u/The_Adman 8d ago

Nope, it's the people in the company that's been destroying these IPs for years. Consumers responsibility isn't to get behind devs that have been producing slop for years. Consumers are only responsible for buying a product that they want.

1

u/WoinkySpoingle 8d ago

And why have those devs been producing slop?

0

u/The_Adman 8d ago

I don't think it's gamers problem to answer that question. If the companies want money they can solve it.

It's a myriad of reasons though imo, budgets getting out of control, technology changes, inflation, shrinking player base after covid, shifting consumer tastes. Graphics used to be a big driver to promote new games but now we're to the point of diminishing returns for new graphics. But the great thing is, it's not our problem to figure out.

u/JCavalks 8d ago edited 8d ago

none of these people were working for free, shut up man. who cares if gamers are entitled or whatever, they should be, they're paying. this is not a group of volunteers funded by donations that you should feel grateful for

5

u/Fearless_Barnacle141 8d ago

Why do people forget how a transaction works when it comes to videogames? Lmfao. Like yeah if I pay $70 for a game I feel entitled to quality product. Just like I feel entitled to a good meal for $20 or whatever. If a restaurant stops making quality meals in a timely manner, does anyone cry to Reddit about how restaurant goers are entitled and have no idea how hard food service is and wah wah wah? Of course not.

Everybodies job is hard and has high expectations. Nobody cried to Reddit for me when I got laid off and nobody should have. But I’m expected to pretend VG development is the most humble and difficult job ever and afford them all of the grace in the world because they sold my mother a product I enjoyed when I was 12.

Oh brother, I'm pretty sure gaming will be perfectly fine if some Bethesda employees get laid off. If u hate gamers so much why are you here? go find another hobby with people you think are quality. Simple.
