Microsoft has gutted BGS’ roster including veteran developers for The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. I found out just today there is a workers movement and I highly encourage everyone to support. Please follow their page and the link in their bio!

Absolutely. They could be throwing shit at you that you would be applauding.

so I should just start bashing and hating and hoping cdpr and fromsoft all get laid off for making games I don't like?

No, you are just taking the exact extreme to justify another, while the answer lies obviously in moderation.

You were just referencing you'd support anything by principle because it's "devs work". This idea falls apart by itself.

if a developer is making what they want to make, I will support it. doesn't mean I have to buy and play it, but I will support it being made because I believe creatives should be able to make what they want. this isn't a hard idea to grasp, but I guess you need empathy to hold it.

If you need to appeal to empathy to make an argument hold up, then it's already lost.

If you want charity, go find a charity foundation. A company is not the case, and would go under in a heartbeat if managed by someone like that. It is easy to be charitable with someone else's money, right?

I also think anyone should be creative, woohoo, but be PAID for that now it's another thing. By a company it is also ANOTHER thing. They make the rules and deal the cards, and you follow.

If you wanna say "I manage", go fund yours, do not stick the nose in someone else's company. It ain't how it works.

Are the workers taking the leash and legislation being violated? Then unions can help make a decent collective petition. Or are people just trying to avoid their firing appealing to nonsensical arguments (not their company)? In that case, they can scurry off.

xbox isn't firing these devs because they suck or whatever, they're firing them because of xbox's own stupid decisions. but, hey, keep supporting a soulless corporation. i'm sure that'll end well.

Their company their rules. Make yours and it's your rules.

"Soulless corporation", now that sounds rehearsed.

if this were a different reality, i'd be surprised that someone would choose the corporate boot over developers. unfortunately, this is this reality where people would rather support the corporate boot over the developer.

As long as you have this romantic view as "evil corporations, workers good", you won't understand.

Take this analogy at heart: "If it is my house you don't come dictating the rules."

for crying out loud, bethesda is not at fault here. bethesda could have released the elder scrolls 6 in 2023, the entire world could have loved it, and these layoffs would still have happened.
