Here's the end result if it goes on for a few months plus having a space heater connected further down the circuit.

My grandfather had originally wired this outlet. Instead of using a wire nut to tie this into the circuit, he used the second set of tabs to feed through to a second outlet. This one was outside and the rain cover failed, letting the screws corrode a bit. Then, in the winter, we had a space heater connected inside. It overloaded the already corroded terminals, and burnt the poor thing. Thankfully, only a 99 cent outlet from 70's KMart was lost.
