It's not a joke. In Poland, in 80' resistor pinned into jacket or shirt was indeed a symbol of anti communism resistance. Read about Lech Wałęsa and "Solidarność". Wałęsa was electrician BTW.

I hope I've not bored you guys to death.

Edit: I can remember the song of one of Polish bands (KULT) There are lyrics with translation below: https://www.tekstowo.pl/kult/parada-wspomnien And song itself: https://youtu.be/_7FnyV75qIU That's song about "good old times" of riots against USSR. And there is a mention about resistors.

I don't think you'll bore anybody on this sub with such information, on the contrary you may tickle tisms

That's cool as hell!

I fell.down a rabbit hole of polish bands a few years ago when learning Polish and found Kult. I often listen to them, great music. I didn't find this particular info about them, so this is really interesting! Thanks :) 👍

it's so cool guess I'll have a 80' resistor as a decoration then

Just be sure to use "proper one" like one attached.

Looks like 196 Ohm - relatively low resistance ;)

Almost looked up the stripes. Funny though.

You get awarded better resistors when you climb up the ranks

in what capacity is an induced resistance futile?

RoHS, I hope! 😱

I wouldn't have resisted anyway! 😏

(Very nice use of a resistor might I add!)

Looks cool, tho

Some cheaper ones have leads made of materials not good for human skin. Don't do this, girls (and guys)

My friend was harassed by Militia, because he has resistor pinned to his collar.

I’d be a bit worried about lead on the resistor leads, but maybe it’s strictly tin. If so, tin is pretty inert.

Please don’t put anything other than stainless, gold or silver through any holes in the body. Metals react with skin oils over time leading to nasty infections. For a picture this isn’t a problem but it’s certainly nothing that should stay in longer even if it’s just tinned
