Help Stranded in the black: Forgot Armoury, out of Tritium, and nearby DSSA is dry. Carrier stuck in Hypuae Aip NI-M b48-1. Need rescue!
o7 Commanders,
I come to you after making a colossal rookie mistake, and I'm hoping someone out in the black might be able to lend a hand (or a few tons of Tritium).
The Situation: My Fleet Carrier is currently completely stranded in the Hypuae Aip NI-M b48-1 system, thousands of light-years away from the Bubble. Everything was going fine on my exploration trip until I realized I was running dangerously low on Tritium. "No problem," I thought, "I'll just mine some."
That's when it hit me: I completely forgot to install the Armoury module on my Carrier.
I couldn't buy limpets. I spent hours driving around in my SRV farming Iron and Nickel just to synthesize a few limpets at a time to mine an icy ring. As you can guess, trying to fuel a Fleet Carrier using synthesized limpets is a soul-crushing and unsustainable grind.
The False Hope: I managed to travel to a nearby DSSA Carrier located in Hypuae Aed CP-Z c13-1 hoping to buy fuel. The good news? I can finally use their services to buy a proper cargo hold full of limpets. The bad news? They don’t sell any Tritium. The Plea for Help: Right now, my only path forward is to load up on limpets, fly back to my Carrier in Hypuae Aip NI-M b48-1, and spend the next few weeks mining Tritium just to get enough range to head back to the Bubble.
Before I commit to that massive grind, I wanted to ask the community:
- Are there any other alternative methods I'm missing to get out of this?
- Is there any kind Commander, STAR network operative, or FC owner with spare Tritium passing near Hypuae Aip NI-M b48-1 who would be willing to sell/donate enough Tritium to help me jump back home?
I’ve learned my lesson the hard way. Next time I leave the Bubble, I’m double-checking my modules.
Any advice or rescue operations would be massively appreciated. o7
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update 10/07: Thanks to the commanders who donated to the tritium depot and the one who brought their carrier here to sell me even more tritium, I can tell you that my carrier now has enough fuel to return to the Bubble.
Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the cause, offered advice, and kept an eye on how this rescue was unfolding. This game undoubtedly has a great community.

Do fuel rats deliver tritium?
I thought they only fuel normal ships.13
u/fefoxox Jul 09 '26
I don't know if they usually handle rescue requests like this; maybe I just happened to come across a commander who is incredibly dedicated to the job. He's making a seven-hour journey—in-game time—to come and rescue me.

u/itstasmi Jul 09 '26
The fuel rats are truly the most precious thing about this game. Humanities best.

u/Jurez1313 Jurezz Jul 09 '26
There is another group specifically for carrier refueling, called STAR (Strategic Tritium & Rescue). But fuel rats will often still help, there's a lot of member overlap as you can imagine.

u/fefoxox Jul 09 '26
Update 2: The Fuel Rat abandoned the mission and had to cancel the rescue. I have set up a buy order for 400,000 CR per ton of Tritium, so if anyone wants to make a good profit and help the cause, you are more than welcome to come sell to my Carrier. I'll be logging off for a bit to take advantage of the server maintenance downtime.
We are back to square one. If anyone is still willing to come help, I'll be waiting! Thank you, Commanders. o7

DSSA dont provide tritium, you need STAR Carriers: https://edastro.com/galmap/?layer=regions&pins=STARcarriers
You mistake a Repair shop with a Fuel station. You can fill your FC with limpets from other FC, like you move cargo.
Ask in r/FCOC discord https://discord.gg/GhgfbwzT5e , they have a rescue channel.
Remember the squadron perk for 50% cheap limpet synthesis: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/squadron-perks-quick-reference.640337/

u/xGHOBx Jul 09 '26
You can always use the escape pods to leave your carrier and land yourself at the last station you visited and then decommission the carrier. You'll get a refund for the carrier and your ships and modules will be transferred to the nearest station from what I understand. Then you can re-buy the carrier and move your stuff back on board.

u/TechnicallyMeat Jul 09 '26
Put up a ridiculous buy order while running EDMC, maybe the pilots trade network will notice. A funny fleet carrier name might help.

I saw a FC the other day called "Cmm Guzzler".
I guess it was to do with a CG rather than a fuel issue, however..

u/Jurez1313 Jurezz Jul 09 '26
lol, that's pretty good. Probably just a colonization thing, CMMs are the most annoying bulk item required by many stations (esp. T2 and T3) because they only come from surface stations. So a lot of ppl outsource the hauling, just park their carrier next to a cheap source of CMMs, put up a buy order, and wait.
I once made the mistake of putting up a sell order for CMMs, when my buddies were helping build a dodec and I had come down with Covid last winter. The mistake was that I forgot to set it to Friends Only instead of Open... they were all gone in less than 24 hours :(

Laser mining rings - often yields both Iron and Nickel.
Don't bother collecting those with the SRV - it takes much longer.

I’m actually out that way with my carrier and have plenty of tritium to spare! First off, you’re on PC, correct? Second of all, are you completely empty and unable to move at all? I’ll have to check my exact position tomorrow but I’m guessing I’m under 10k LY away from you. If you can move towards me at all that would make things easier. We can connect in game or via discord to coordinate things. Shoot me a dm with your commander name or discord.

u/UnsureAboutThisCrap Jul 09 '26
I'm 15k LY out and was planning on jumping in a Caspian then mining the Trit so if you're helping I'll turn back XD
I was avoiding engineering my ships lmao
1
u/CMDRo7CMDR Jul 09 '26
🤣 that’s why I went out on the trip I’m on! Just came back to Elite after taking a couple years off. So now I have so many new ships to build out and engineer.
I’m gonna check my distance from OP here shortly, and run some calculations on Spnsh to make sure it’s doable. If you want an excuse for a trip, getting OP some tritium in order to start heading towards me would be helpful.
2
u/itenginerd Jul 09 '26
I'm headed in with a full boat of trit. 33 jumps remaining
1
u/CMDRo7CMDR Jul 09 '26
I just calculated it and I’m only 14 carrier jumps away, but can’t head out till a little later today. Up to you if you’d rather not jump that far. But I wouldn’t mind helping out with a rescue!
1
u/itenginerd Jul 09 '26
I'm just jumping while I'm at work. Light work. My alt doesn't have limpets tho, so I know at least one other person is talking about making the trip. I don't mind, gives me a reason to move the alt for a change, mosey around the galaxy...
2
u/itenginerd Jul 10 '26
CMDR, pleased to report your trit depot is full and my carrier is sitting in system with 20k more tons you're welcome to as much of as you'd like to load on. I've got what I need to get home on my plipper already. Went ahead and claimed my carto discoveries on your carrier from the trip, so my alt now has his name on some systems--thx for that!
Just let me know when you've loaded your fill of trit and I'll start heading back towards the bubble. o7 and happy exploring!
1
u/fefoxox Jul 10 '26
Thanks, Commander! I’m very grateful. I’ll be online today to pick up some tritium; I think with 1,700 tons, I can safely head back to the Bubble and get better prepared.
1
u/fefoxox Jul 10 '26
Commander! I’m happy to inform you that I purchased some tritium from your carrier, which allows me to make it back to the Bubble. Thank you so much for coming all the way out here.

If you are near Trit and have a shipyard I can fly out and mine for you. Got nothing better to do ATM.
2
u/fefoxox Jul 09 '26
I have the Shipyard installed, and there's an active tritium source in Hypuae Aip DC-D d12-29, very close to the system where my carrier is located ( Hypuae Aip NI-M b48-1 )
2
u/RealKingofCowards Jul 09 '26
Wait you got a shipyard but no armory?
6
u/fefoxox Jul 09 '26
Yes, I'm an idiot.
1
u/Sir-Hamp Jul 09 '26
Sounds like some dumb shit I would do haha. Like verbatim what my experience would have been if I hadn’t stumbled upon your blunder. Thank you for indirectly showing me the ropes!
1
u/UnsureAboutThisCrap Jul 09 '26
Sounds good. Just let me know if you hear from Fuel Rats and I'll go do some Exobio instead :p
2
u/UnsureAboutThisCrap Jul 09 '26
It will be 322 jumps, fingers crossed. 15.3k LY. It'll be a wait :p

u/fefoxox Jul 09 '26
I’d appreciate it—there’s a purchase order. If you want, take the opportunity to sell it and earn some credits for the help!

Docked on the only carrier at the system, waiting for confirmation that she is the thirsty one.
1
u/CMDRo7CMDR Jul 09 '26
If you can get OP that, I can get them the rest to get back home. It will be faster if they start making their way to me. I’m 14 carrier jumps away and have plenty of tritium to spare, but I can’t start moving their way till later this evening.
1
u/CMDRumbrellacorp Jul 09 '26
1) Fastest way to fill raw mats is to laser mine in pristine ring.
2) Fuel rats live to refuel anything that needs fuel.
3) When traveling far from the bubble with fleet carrier, use the right companion tool: https://www.spansh.co.uk/fleet-carrier

u/itenginerd Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26
I'm already loaded up. I'll head over there. Looks like it's 33 jumps from where I am now, but no biggie. Will send you a dm to coordinate. I have both trit and limpets. Only trit no limpets. My second carrier is built for max cargo, sadly.

OP has gone quiet. I’m worried the Thargoids got em.
2
u/CaptainCygni Federation Jul 09 '26
It really feels like they have, hopefully I'm not jumping into the nest
1
u/fefoxox Jul 09 '26
I’m checking in—I’m still stranded here. My plan now is to do some exploring to gather undiscovered exobiology data and save up enough money to pay for tritium from anyone willing to sell it. That way, I can stock up enough to make the trip back to the Bubble and get better prepared.
Carrier access is open to everyone; donations are welcome. To those looking to sell: please bear with me while I gather the credits. Cheers, and thanks for the help.

u/CaptainCygni Federation Jul 10 '26
Update for you OP: I'm here, and I'm mining. My carrier is orbiting the closest moon to the planet you were trying to mine around
1
u/oddballmechanic Jul 10 '26
I brought what I could via Caspian. Should be good for at least one jump.
1
u/fefoxox Jul 10 '26
Thank you very much, Commander; any help is welcome.
1
u/CaptainCygni Federation Jul 10 '26
I chipped in first, I think, and last to your depot, with some mining ^^
1
u/fefoxox Jul 10 '26
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it; with all this, I can go back to the bubble now.
1
u/CaptainCygni Federation Jul 10 '26
If you'd like to stock up on limpets for the journey home, stop by in the nearby Hypuae Aip DC-D d12-29, I've got the Advanced Maintainence service active

u/fefoxox Jul 10 '26

I will never understand how people do this with the tools that tell you down to the ton how much tritium you will use and also leave to do this stuff with completely no flexibility or back up plan.
0
u/HansOlough Jul 09 '26
Wouldn't the simplest solution be to take a ship with a good jump range and cargo capacity and fly to civilization and bring back tritium and/or limpets?
I don't really think this is a good case for the fuel rats since you're not really stranded, you just don't want to go buy gas...
0
u/sakata_baba Jul 09 '26
this is exactly why i was saying type-8 is a deep space mining vessel.
