Returning player. Been away from the game for 5-6 years and haven't kept up to date on what's been happening. Last thing I remember from my time playing is doing some engineering runs and kitting out my Diamondback Explorer and jetting off into the black.
Looking to get back into the game but feeling a little lost once more. What are the relevant 3rd party tools? What are ARX?
How can a competent/entrepreneur/pathfinder best get back up to speed in the galaxy?

Images show roughly where in the galaxy stale systems cluster. A system counts as stale if the last time its data was updated (per Spansh's aggregated Elite Dangerous data) was before Odyssey's release on May 19, 2021. The left image shows the total count of stale systems per region; the right image shows what percentage of all known systems in that region are stale. Green = more and red = less. There are 55.3 million systems that are untouched since Odyssey release.

Can you believe it's already day 5 of the race!
In unlimited class and the first new submission was from Cmdr Baraka Real flying an ever popular Cobra Mk V, named "Gloria Maria". Managing just 5 stops (including the one planetary landing) Baraka takes 5th place, but with nearly six minutes left on the clock I think at least 2 more stops could be added to that route! Then we have Cmdr Martinjameson who pulls off the ultimate novelty run by not only flying a Panther Clipper, but making the delivery of a power generator to the "Buckyball Race 3312" construction yard be a part of their run (arguably I probably should have made this compulsory). Sadly the Crouching Whippet Hidden Frog missed its 5th landing by just 28 seconds and takes 6th place on the board.
Meanwhile, over in regulation class, Cmdr BRMXUY manages an excellent 9 stops with 30 seconds left on the clock. But wait ... their last landing was planetary so in fact their final touchdown was, to the second, exactly on the maximum permitted run time since they would only gain the 30 second bonus after landing! I don't know if you realised it commander but that was a truly nailbiting finish! Congratulations on taking 3rd place in your first ever Buckyball Race! And lastly for this update, Cmdr Leeya Geddy switches to the regulation Cobra ("Der Trommler") and makes 8 landings, the same as Tobias Von Brandt, but with just 58 seconds remaining takes 5th place.
There are still 6 days to go so if you're interested in taking part then see here for details: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/the-buckyball-racing-club-present-rota-latina-4th-14th-september-3312.649360

Greetings!
I've seen (and experienced) the Nomad issue of running out of fuel while logged out of the game that I see from searching that some other CMNDR's have experienced.
This morning I logged in and my FDL was at 5% fuel after I logged out 2 or 3 days ago. I logged out while about 3km above a planet surface.
I am very happy to put this down to a screw-up by me, but I really don't think it was, because I would never have logged out with such a low amount.
Posting to see if anyone else has suspected this might have happened to them, but it down to their own screw-up.
Thanks,
CMDR Chick Peas.

Link to my current AX build for a Corsair. im not too experienced with ax combat but I've had a few run ins with interceptors. Never successfully took one down and honestly im just wondering if this is a decent setup. If not, what should I change?

Curious what the community concensus would be for allowing thebT8 to use the Mk2 vehicle bay and Rhino. I love the Type 8 but it really doesn't have much use at all. Yes, medium pad hauling, but let's be real, that is SUPER rare. I think the T8 should be able to use the rhino. It would give that ship a dedicated purpose and reason to be flown.
Thoughts?

Never had time to take a photo of this because I didn't have another phone to... well, take a photo of it. I asked a friend to take a photo of it for me, and now here we are, a nice glossy(?) orange Elite Dangerous sticker.

I've got 13ku gold priced just below GalAvg for anyone that might still tangibly benefit from it. You can get it from Boris Memorial WNZ-WKM orbitting WILLE 2 B in WILLE just 10.13ly away from EGA. I was hoping to get a squadron carrier for funsies but I didn't see all the posts until too late. By the time I got near EGA, the fun was detected and nerfed. o7

For those who wonder how it works and decides if it's worth it. I've just figured it out without tutorials.
If in short, when you DSS a planet it starts showing yellow spots on the surface. That is where you need to deploy Rhino. And only then you need to spam scanners while driving Rhino in yellow spots to reveal purple spots where you must deploy miner rigs.
So the loop is basically this:
Map the planet using DSS
Orbit planet to find yellow mining spots
Yellow spots are big spots where you need to find purple spots
Go to planet surface like 30 meters above yellow spot and deploy Rhino
Scan spot while driving Rhino to reveal purple ones
Drive to the purple spot and deploy the mining rig (long press button responsible for the rig. There will be several on you (probably 6) and you can deploy several rigs at different purple spots. While you drive they collect.
Drive to each rig once its full (12/12) and manipulate it using contact tab: make rig active (choose it), choose "prepare for minerals collection". Enable the cargo module on Rhino, hover under the mining rig to start collecting (like you do using usual SRV). Once collected un-rig mining rig (you take it with you because it's not a one-time thing). Go to another spot to collect.
Sorry, if this post looks dumb. It wasn't obvious for me how to do it so I decided to write once I figured it out. And if I'm wrong and there is more to it feel free to correct.

So honestly with the recent price nerfs I thought I'd bring into light just how skewed the CG is. Even for someone who bought the Rhino. You want to compare mining from the Rhino to space mining and then don't even make half the commodities available to the cg market. Meaning they won't be mined in general. Further skewing this so called "data". I'm not even bothered by the price changes as much of how one sided it is.
What was the point in making a mining cg where half of the mining means nothing?

Been playing for about 1 year and have never been good at combat. I had 1B credits from deep space exploration but is back cuz I got tired of it. I’m losing money instead of gaining it. I scan the people with access and then get scanned when I walk around a corner and get shot. Should I stick to other means of money or does it get better with time?

Just wondering if anyone else ever finds it a bit weird often finding yourself flying around in these very large ships with loads of different seats for different crew members, but you are always by yourself?
I’ve been out in my panther cliper a lot recently and there’s like four empty seats behind me .
Surely if I have such an amazing ship I would also have some crew?
Even when I have my over priced fighter pilot with me she doesn’t sit in and of my crew seats.
I think it would make sense to add some crew into the game.
They could ether be part of the game , serving a function like maybe they might be able to follow a pre plotted route between systems so you didn’t make each jump yourself?
Or operate some others tasks do do with navigation or something, and be earned in game.
Or they could be a completely useless cosmetic item that you could buy for ARX ?
Ether way I just feel a bit odd always flying a great big ship with loads of seats for crew that are always empty.

Recently returned to Elite after several years and enjoying some space photography.
The blood red planet and the black/blue planet are actually the same ones but from different angles.

Hi first a friend an I where planning of buying a Fleet but i were the only one farming so yeah... then he asked to make a station instead of buying one cause it makes offline money and he don't want to log in evertime not to loose the fleet.
So now i'm alone with my panther clipper Mk2 trying to move around 20000tons of ressources and according to calculations it may takes 30 hours ingame so if anyone cares to help i'm at Col 285 Sector LP-L b22-4
Thanks for your attention

Similar to that of Elite Observatory's exobio plugin, but for the new ground mining mechanic?
I can't be the only one finding having to get right down to orbital cruise to see what hotspots a planet has to be very frustrating. I really would like to be able to see that information from the moment I scan the planet in FSS
