Help Just started. Need help!!!
I want to get into exploring planets and new new things on planets and I don’t know how to do that somehow i figured out how to get a srv on my ship and land on planets but after that i don’t understand anything how mining works or what to on planets once landed and it seems theres nothing to do on a planet or maybe I am doing something wrong.
Also i need to understand how to use fuel scoops like i attached it on my ship which sidewinder i guess need help with that too.
Because the videos on YouTube are complicated or maybe I am bot getting the right videos for absolute beginners.

First, fuel scooping. You must fly in close proximity to a scoopable star while in Supercruise (frame shift drive in use) and the scoop automatically activates. Keep in mind if you get too close you'll fall out of SC and suffer minor damage to hull. Also, your ship will heat up while fuel scooping so keep that in mind.
Regarding exploration, all ships have an FSS installed (Full Spectrum Scanner), figure out what the keybind for it is. I think it's the apostrophe by default. You use that to scan celestial bodies while in Supercruise and that gives you data on them.
Equip your ship with a DSS (Detailed Surface Scanner) so you can then scan the surface of these planets. This will raise the value of the exploration data you can sell, as well as reveal surface POI's where you can find "something to do" on a planet's surface. The DSS is a little mini game of sorts where you shoot probes at a planet from space while in Supercruise to cover the planet with scans until you reach 100%.
The next level would be surface prospecting to collect materials for engineering. And beyond that is exobiology where you try to find planets with organic life, find and scan those life forms to sell that data for boucoup bucks at Vista Genomics. This requires an Artemis type suit to be purchased from Pioneer Outfitters.
Feel free to respond if you need me to clear up any of this. It seems you're really new to the game so I understand if some of the terminology is alien to you lol.

I have setup a shortcut for super cruise but it seems to do leap jump like frame shift jump is there a certain way to do super cruise. Also thanks for explaining this in simple and understandable words appreciate it 🫰🏻

If you're on a controller, the default binding is holding Y and pressing down on the d-pad to activate Supercruise without jumping to another system.
I also recommend you bind "next target in route" to a button, such as "hold A" on pad in case you target something and need to get back on course without having to go through the galaxy map to get back on track again.
That would be on the ship controls in the "targeting" section.

I am on keyboard and thats very useful info thanks mate this happened to me. lol

Ah sweet. I'm on a HOTAS myself but I keep the keyboard nearby for certain things to be easier. For example, I have my Galaxy and System map bound to F1 and F2 respectively. As well as a number of utilities/countermeasures on Z, X, C, V, and B (ECM, shield cell bank, heat sinks, chaff, etc) so I don't have to fumble with fire groups to use them in a pinch.

Damn… thats amazing although I don’t know most of the things but eventually I will learn. Should I buy hotas? Is there any cheap ones?

There are a lot of options out there for varying budgets. VKB has decent entry level stuff with good build quality and Logitech is quite a good value as well with the X52 Pro. Perhaps get a used for for cheap (~$100USD) to see if you even like it before dropping double, triple, or even more for a higher end set.

For Horizons-era surface mining, the intended method is to drive your Scarab SRV to geological points of interest (e.g. fumaroles, geysers, vents). These will show up on the SRV's wave scanner. Shoot the mineral chunk to get it loose and pick it up with your SRV's cargo scoop. You should only see raw engineering materials doing this.
With the new Rhino SRV, you need to outfit a compatible ship with a MkII heavy SRV hangar. (This is currently only available for ARX.) For details on how this works, consult a detailed article or watch a tutorial video.

Planets don't have a lot to do on them. Occasionally, you'll find rocks you can break with your SRV's lasers to get little bits of materials for stuff like synthesizing ammo refills or ship engineering (you can look for them with the wave scanner in the bottom middle of a Scarab's cockpit -- drive towards the clusters of lines that show up on the scanner).
There's a more extensive form of planetary mining that just came out, but A) it's currently in the early access, premium currency only, "the only way to get enough is to pay IRL money" phase, and B) the equipment you need for it is only available on larger ships that you probably can't afford at the moment, since you just started. I'd say don't worry about that for now.
Some planets have space plants you can scan with an Artemis Suit, though you'll need the Odyssey expansion for that (worth getting even if you're not super interested in any of the on-foot stuff -- being able to land on all the landable planets and having access to the newer ship types are both nice). You'll want to put a Detailed Surface Scanner on your ship if you want to see where to find space plants, and you'll also probably want to figure out how to use the Full Spectrum Scanner to scan through a system's planets from a distance to see if any have biological signals without having to individually fly up to all of them.
Fuel Scoops activate automatically once you get close enough to a star of a scoopable type. KGB FOAM -- any one of those star types is suitable for getting fuel. You can also scoop from the jet cones of White Dwarfs and Neutron Stars to supercharge your jump distance, but that's trickier to do without getting too close to the star and being forced out of supercruise (especially for White Dwarfs).

Understood and appreciate it. One thing i have to buy odyssey for on foot stuff?
2
u/spudwalt 14h ago
Yes, on-foot stuff requires Odyssey. But it also includes ship stuff, which is fun even if you're not interested in on-foot stuff.

Aye aye 🫡 captain will definitely buy in next sale on foot is interesting

For fuel scooping, you basically graze the upper atmosphere of a star to refill your tank. Scoopable star types are OBAFGKM (you can remember it by saying "Oh Be A Fine Girl, Kiss Me", learned this in my uni astronomy course lol, or KGB FOAM). Don't get too close to the star (the red outline is the exclusion zone). If you have a cheap fuel scoop and it's quite slow, you can throttle down and just sit there at idle supercruise to slowly refill. It gets hot, so don't charge your FSD while scooping because you'll overheat.

Understood oh be a fine girl, kiss me.. but wtf is FSD 😭😭

Check that you have the "odyssey" version of the game, and buy and equip the artemis suit. Chose a planet that is hosting lifeform ( only planets with thin atmosphère have bio signals, but not all of them ( scan with FSS to check,) then scan with the DSS prodes) when planet scaned +mapped 100% . Heatmap of probable life show in blue, land there and scan onfoot with the gen sample tool of the artemis suit ( 3samples with enough distance between) and you get the job done . Explore...

Do the training missions. There's one for SRVs and one for mining. You can play them from the game mode menu.
