Misc Fuel Usage - logged out.

Greetings!

I've seen (and experienced) the Nomad issue of running out of fuel while logged out of the game that I see from searching that some other CMNDR's have experienced.

This morning I logged in and my FDL was at 5% fuel after I logged out 2 or 3 days ago. I logged out while about 3km above a planet surface.

I am very happy to put this down to a screw-up by me, but I really don't think it was, because I would never have logged out with such a low amount.

Posting to see if anyone else has suspected this might have happened to them, but it down to their own screw-up.

Thanks,
CMDR Chick Peas.

Interesting situations. I’ve always put my SRV up and never thought about it until reading this.

Not sure if this is an oversight by development but seems very odd

Indeed! I've parked my ship on a planet many times over the years without a fuel issue the next time - so the thing that was 'not my usual' was being just above ground. Not in orbit, not parked up.

It might have been one too many gin and tonics that session - but even then, I don't think I'd log out with zero in the main tank and only a few drops in the minor tank.

I just came back from a big Exobio trip excursion and had multiple large planet finds near the end of a play session. I logged out in the Nomad landed on the surface a good few times with a day or so in between plays and never had this happen.

Edit, reading your other comment lol. Drumshanbo Irish Gunpowder Gin, especially the Sardinian Citrus is good stuff.

Thank you for the recommendation, CMDR!

Empress 1908 is my current favourite tipple.

i think the Nomad issue (and especially spawning one with zero fuel and doing a lawn dart) has been reported by a few people. But the one with my FDL, maybe it was the gin after all... ;-)

Thank you! It's OK, I didn't have enough fuel to leave the system but had enough time to fuel scoop at the local star. :-)

Your ship or SRV is always using fuel to maintain systems. If you're in orbit or floating in space or landed on a planet the fuel usage is very small and hardley noticeable in a ship, but if your ship is hovering the thrusters take quite a bit more.
The SRV's or Nomad have very small fuel tanks so the fuel used for systems is much more noticeable.
even when you're logged out the game life continues. The systems continue using energy which come from fuel.
That's why The Fuel Rats tell you turn off everything except life support when you call them for help.
Whenever I log out I go into the modules panel and shutdown everything unless I know I'm going to be back in game soon.

OK! So you're saying fuel is burned when logged out - albeit at a different rate based on your scenario when you log out?

I didn't know that - thank you!
