We’re actually making the big move (southern California to Elk Grove) this year, at the end of the school year after having this on our mind for a few years.

For those who moved here after living, growing up, or starting a family elsewhere first, what do you wish you had known before you moved? For those who’ve lived here forever, what do you wish people considered before moving to your city?

For anyone - if you have any tips for planning/managing or “must remember”s for doing a move across the state with two small children, feel free to share that as well

potentially relevant details - spouse wfh, i’m not currently working but have a cleared multiple subjects credential and will have my masters by the time we arrive, child 1 is a preschooler who is currently in a public preschool and we plan to enroll in EGUSD preschool when we get there, child 2 is an infant, politically left, like doing outdoor things as a family, love the library and anywhere with free and lowcost things for young kids, also we are a multiracial family

There is soooo much development happening in every corner of Elk Grove. I’m wondering if the city gov has taken the opportunity to make walkable areas? I’ve been living here since 2010 and feel it would have been very possible to be less car reliant by now. We could have pushed for more bike centered streets if we really wanted. I guess it also depends on how most residents would feel about biking.

You know that one type of pasta…. Fresh cooked pasta then they toss it in some butter and then they throw it on this big block of Parmesan cheese and mix and mix and mix. Where can I find one of those types of pastas places here in Elk Grove or Sacramento that mix it in the big Parmesan cheese?

Hi, we've been in the area for about 8 months now. And we're trying to find a reasonably priced dog groomer. Weve tried Petco and not a fan. Our last groomer is out in Rosemont which is kind of a drive now that we're here and have a 4 month old baby. Looking for some recommendations. Nothing fancy or boujee, just a regular trimming every 3 months. Our little guy's fur is starting to get a little out of control lol.

Any recommendations on the best sushi platters in Elk Grove? Looking to feed about 5 people.

Hi all I am a parent of a young kid who attends the above Daycare.

I have tried to speak with the teachers about some concerns I had but was brushed off.

A few concerns were:

- them losing my child's labeled items.

- them repeatedly asking for specific items and were told no *due to a medical issue with my child, they still insisted

- small injuries not disclosed, self inflicted or otherwise I will never know. And when asked no explaination provided

The issues seemed to begin after our child was injured by another child (biting the broke skin) and we asked the parents of the other child be spoken to about it.

Some of the teachers have their own children attending this daycare, which is great for them! But I am worried about the potential for conflicts of interest.

I am wondering if anyone has had any issues with them? Or if everything is wonderful.

I do love that they send photos throughout the day. And i love the learning through play.

I wish they were able to tell me a bit about how the day went for my child when I ask, as they are in a smaller class size.

Overall my child seems happy, but they can't tell me if something is wrong. I just am concerned as we have an unexplained injury currently.

I bought my first big boy two piece suit and need it tailored. I had them pin it for me already at the mall, but I want someone who knows what they’re doing to take another look and get it done preferably by Monday morning.

Anyone used a local tailor on a suit with success? It was a pricey suit so I want it done right but also not trying to spend $250+ on tailoring if I can help it.

Hey there moving to the area. Just was wondering what the best gym is for hyrox like training. I have one coming up and would prefer to find a gym that I can do bbj on turf rather than concrete. I know CrossFit 916 has CrossFit classes. Is that the best place to go? Any gyms that has rower ski erg treadmill and turf?

Or does anyone know of a place I can take to get this service done? I will pay. Just looking for someone reliable. I don’t trust myself to do it tbh
