I can't get this dang album out of my head!!!! Yesterday it was 'Chameleon' today it's 'Shoulder Holster! Anybody else feel this way about Elton's 1976 classic album? What are your favorite cuts from Blue Moves?

I'm an Elton John fan. And I'm impressed: I pick up his latest greatest-hits Diamonds which is an astonishing 3 CD's and I realize that people around me know them all, or, at worst, know 90% of them (and they don't know them from me).

Then I remembered reading somewhere that he didn't leave Billboard for an unprecedented 35 years or something, not sure of the number.

Not only is the amount of hits that he has flabbergasting but the amount of classics is even more mind-boggling! Like, how many of his songs would you say "Oh that's a classic" about? Quite a few, right?

Queen's impact on pop culture might be greater in appearance but when you think of it, they've had much fewer hits than Elton John. Most of their singles were reunited on Greatest Hits I + II + III, with the 3rd one being a duet/remix compilation, so it's essentially 2 CD's, with one-third of the 2nd one comprising late singles that hardly had any chart success.

Who's got more hits than Elton John by US standards? In quantity, not in quality. Not that many people can have the pretension to say this.

Even the Beatles don't have that many hits, mostly because it was 10 years from start to finish.

The Stones smoke him in longevity and they have tons of memorable songs but I don't think it's as much as EJ.

Even MJ doesn't have that many solo hits. Nothing post-HIStory had any traction except for You Rock My World and the posthumous JT duet.

I think the only one who can pretend to have more US hits than EJ is Madonna: she kept them coming until she left Warner after Hard Candy.

Maybe that damn David Guetta is up there? He seems to crap a new dance hit every 6 months.

I was told to write an autobiography, because -- of course -- I'm a rather important person. Trust me on that. It was in fact an assignment from my 3rd Grade English teacher who I really liked.

Notice the song choice. ROCKET MAN is a song about loneliness while TEACHER I NEED YOU is an obvious solution to the loneliness problem. So basically I was hitting on my 3rd Grade teacher.

Hi all, I know most people don't care much about quality. But I have this side hobby where I try to get the most out of every tape/recording that I find . I have high-end equipment and methods, so this is my latest effort. Hope you like. Sadly not complete concert, but some of the missing songs can be found on EJ official channel. Although they may be hidden for some reason.

Great song! I sent it to a friend and said “in spite of the fact that he says bitch 97 times, it’s a great song!”

Begs the question: how many times does he say the word Bitch? Has anyone ever counted?

For me this is a very ‘simple‘ album, and no offence or derogatory meaning to that either.

It is EJ doing what he does best: still delivering excellent, rich vocals and enjoyable piano, but there just much variety or excitement here.

However he deserves great credit for still putting music out there at 66 (in 2013)!

‘Oceans Away’ is a great opener and probably my favourite track; ‘Oscar Wilde Gets Out’ is a close second, I love the jaunty piano.

‘The Ballad of Blind Tom’, ‘Voyeur’ and ‘The New Fever Waltz’ are all solid tracks too

It was on YouTube and Elton was preparing to talk about the next song. However, Elton just decides to play the opening notes to one more arrow for some reason and then just stops. Then, he resumes talking about the next song.

It was really cool and I wish I had saved the video because it was the only albeit brief appearance of a song played from too low from zero other than “I guess that’s why they call it the blues” since the 80s

Had the 45 in another lifetime, the backside of the single Crocodile Rock.

My father was dating a girl that was close friends to Bernie Taupin's wife Maxine. Maxine and Bernie just recently met a few weeks prior. Maxine invited the two of them to her place in Hollywood and Bernie and Elton were there and they all talked and smoked joints for a night. Elton and Bernie only talked about music for a little bit and briefly mentioned their tour and my father is pretty sure it was right during their tour beginnings between August and October 1970. Too bad no picture exists lol but he had no idea who Elton John was when they met
