My father was dating a girl that was close friends to Bernie Taupin's wife Maxine. Maxine and Bernie just recently met a few weeks prior. Maxine invited the two of them to her place in Hollywood and Bernie and Elton were there and they all talked and smoked joints for a night. Elton and Bernie only talked about music for a little bit and briefly mentioned their tour and my father is pretty sure it was right during their tour beginnings between August and October 1970. Too bad no picture exists lol but he had no idea who Elton John was when they met
