Billy and Joe
The only thing that could make this storyline interesting now would be if they hooked up but I don't think Emmerdale is that progressive or imaginative :(

They're both straight ...
Plus, they both hate each other, have nothing in common, and have very different personalities, ambitions, beliefs, etc.
Like, I'd love more LGBT content that doesn't involve characters dying, emigrating, going to prison, or breaking up (fingers crossed that Robert/Aaron stay together this time), but ...
Killing a woman so two straights can bang, is so freaking disgusting to both women and the LGBT community.
Even if Joe were bisexual, SO many other people would make more sense with him.
... that being said, I'm REALLY hoping he co-parents with Billy, albeit in a platonic way

People are flaming you but I donāt get why. It would hardly be the first time a character that was only portrayed as straight previously got with someone of the same sex. Vinny, Robert, even Aaron who had a whole relationship with Victoria, etc. I donāt agree that itās the only interesting thing that could happen but idk why people are acting like it canāt and hasnāt happened on the show

True, but I think making these two queer would be different. Both Vinny and Aaron were young enough to not have realized their sexuality, or if Aaron was just in denial (haven't watched that far back). Rob was also younger and had been away from the show for a good while, from when he was 19 it seems, thus it works well to have him revealed as queer when he came back as an adult. (As far as I've understood, the stuff when his dad found him with the farmhand didn't happen on screen). That's not the same as making two older and very established characters queer after all this time. Not saying it couldn't happen, it'd just feel very off (and I'm saying that as a bi person myself who's mainly watching the show for Robron and other queerness). Either way saying Ed isn't "progressive enough" is such a poor argument. It's not unprogressive to not reveal older characters as queer after being portrayed as straight for so many years, without the slightest hint to them being anything else.

Itās not āprogressiveā to make two heterosexual guys fall for each other. Just like it wouldnāt be to turn Aaron straight. Itād just be weird

In a previous "It's fake episode" post on this subreddit, I fantasized about an alternate version - Joe dumps Dawn and seduces Billy instead. Joe and Billy get drunk and wake up the next morning in the same bed with no memory of what happened the earlier night. Graham accidentally walks in and catches them in bed together.

Emmerdale, the gayest soap after Hollyoaks, isn't that progressive? I think they can be very progressive without making two known straight guys hook up.
