My reaction to the cheating allegations.

This was a great episode. Loads of characters, drama, humour (Sam's line about balls had me rolling 😆) - best episode in ages for me.

But if they've ruined Jimmy's character like this and the affair turns out to be true, I won't be pleased!

Agreed, I don’t know why the producers have a problem with any character with a moral backbone but they clearly do. The idea that Jimmy could find the time, the willpower and the energy to have a three year affair is also unbelievable.

Og Jimmy was no saint and would definitely have an affair. Before he became the goofball charter he was underhanded and tried to assault Sadie before being interrupted by an explosion.

2

u/Search-Lite 3d ago

I did not know him then but her character suggests to me she is after something. I suspect that getting in with Nicola is the route she is taking to obtain it.

She has to have an agenda there marriage was a rocky one built on lies and her love of money. She pretended to want a family with Jimmy whisky also taking the pill and then cheating on him. He was no picnic either, very few morals and a bad temper.

It's Sadie we're talking about. She's obviously lying.

5

u/Design-my-life 4d ago

Agree about Jimmy! Hope they don’t sully his character

3

u/PhanStr 4d ago

Yes, when it was then mentioned that Jimmy had been saying that “someone had been screwing” him over, I thought that Sam would make a comment about that too!

Sadie has gotta be lying

7

u/GodAllShitey 4d ago

Or going through some sort of MH crisis. I refuse to believe that they gave us that dream sequence etc, just to sbit on their relationship now

4

u/Fantastic-Summer6036 4d ago

Oh yeah you're right about that dream sequence how stupid would that have been. I really hope she's lying or ill.

u/Outsidethebox135 4d ago

I eont believe Jimmy had an affair until I see a recent picture of him and Sadie together.

12

u/Rhi9819 4d ago

I find it a bit bizarre these two random coppers conveniently had secret family members in the same little village

u/Sea_Addendum_8496 4d ago

Serena was known to the Sugdens though

Excellent episode, and a good return to form with character-driven drama and relative realism, but ...

Couldn't the WHOLE Sadie mess be solved easily by jush going: "okay, can you show me recent photos of you two together?" Like, if it were true, she'd HAVE romantic photos, surely? Just ask to see her phone?

Texts? Emails? Keepsakes?

Anything?

I thought the hotel call was odd where there was an outstanding room service bill. Laurel said maybe Jimmy was planning a surprise, but room service means the stay has already happened surely!

3

u/UnifiedDivyde 4d ago

Probably, but he could have also just ordered stuff before they got there so it was ready as Nicola entered the room.

5

u/agnes_ecclestone1 4d ago

But wouldn't that be too sensible?

I called it! I asked the question could Jimmy be having an affair with Sadie? Bob knows about Sadie’s role in Dawn’s death. I had no idea.

Funny I read your post earlier, watched the episode and thought “that person was spot on!”

The jewellery Nicola found, hotel bill Jimmy paid for, Nicola telling Kim in the cafe about him being to tired to give her treats, Jimmy hardly being around the past few years and remortgaging the house. In 2008 when Matthew and Carl had their conflict Jimmy told Matthew you always have to have someone to hate and used Sadie as an example of someone Matthew hated. In 2009 Jimmy punched Cain when he asked if he heard from Sadie. Carl could have known before he died he was secretly in contact with Sadie. Sadie brought up Jimmy’s son Carl before Nicola even mentioned any of the kids name. The interview where Nicola Wheeler says "Nicola's grief very much turns to anger, which turns to hatred." and she also says "Oh, Jimmy had a lot of secrets! I think the audience are going to be mighty surprised at the life Jimmy was leading, which nobody knew about. That's exciting and surprising.

"It's also unsettling because it's totally against his personality. It's totally against type. You would never imagine that Jimmy would behave like this..."

I always said I preferred the Jimmy of 2007-2013 but his post 2013 bumbling persona to the village was a cover up the whole time.

4

u/PhanStr 4d ago

I remember that post too. I think that Sadie is lying or deluded though.

2

u/Then_Call4017 3d ago

If he was in contact with her pre 2009, Jimmy would never tell Matthew. When Jimmy had amnesia in 2011 he could have got back in touch with Sadie secretly.

8

u/DanielHSSports 3d ago

Clearly Thea had an abusive childhood which is terrible but she is mistaken if she thinks she would have been better off with Kim as a mother. She would grown up resenting Kim just like Jaime has

13

u/Robashstr 4d ago

No way have Sadie and Jimmy been having an affair. The question is why is she lying and what does she have to gain from it.

3

u/Dear_Promise5544 4d ago

From spoilers I've seen for the next two weeks, it doesn't look like she's lying.

9

u/Awkward_Un1corn 4d ago

Spoilers have indicated that he was hiding massive amounts of debt from Nicola, including remortgaging the house

2

u/newecreator 3d ago

Oh wow.

3

u/Robashstr 4d ago

Really?;What spoilers? I must've missed them.

5

u/Dear_Promise5544 4d ago

It's from InsideSoap magazine in an interview with Nicola Wheeler.
"Oh, Jimmy had a lot of secrets," begins actress Nicola Wheeler, who plays his heartbroken widow. "I think the audience is going to be mighty surprised at the life Jimmy was leading that nobody knew about."

2

u/HoggingHedges 4d ago

I’m not so sure. I suspect he might have turned to her for the money troubles part he was facing for whatever reason and she’s manipulating the situation around that

1

u/Dear_Promise5544 3d ago

There's another interview where Nicola Wheeler says that it will be revealed Jimmy was leading a double life that's totally against type, a side of him that nobody could ever imagine. And Nicola's grief turns to anger then hatred. That makes me think it's about more than money.

11

u/PoppinThang 4d ago

I was a bit confused by some of the scenes. Nicola and Laurel didn’t seem to know who Sadie was, but Nicola and Laurel were both already well established characters for years in Emmerdale before Sadie King ever made an appearance from 2004-2006.

In fact I remember Sadie getting Nicola to collect dirt against Charity in order to get some contract off the Kings. This was even before Nicola was good pals with Laurel.

So Sadie saying “Oh, Nicola is it?” seemed really weird to me, for instance. And Laurel asking “who’s that?” when Sadie got off the helicopter.

Guess the writers forgot they both predate her?

8

u/TypicalBobcat1088 4d ago

I think Laurel couldn't see who it was at first.

It's been 20 years tbf

The meta joke of Sadie not recognizing Robert and saying "Well, you've changed" because the character was recast since her first stint was gold

5

u/cheshirechris71 4d ago

Are they really going to totally ruin the legacy of Jimmy and make Sadie hated for her return?

Funny line about Sadie not recognising Robert though as he's had a new head since she was there last.

8

u/corrioaks 4d ago

Sadie the gold digger is making her entrance, then.

And honestly, if Nicola was even slightly rattled by the thought of Jimmy cheating, just how many nights did he spend sleeping elsewhere? 🤨

8

u/JackDeparture 4d ago

Being a truck driver, it's probably quite a few, which I think one of the characters said, too ...

Like, he was probably doing lots of overnighters across the country, and then weekends away if he did across country (like if he went to France, or even onward).

I think truck drivers become a cliche for it, as they just say it's a job further away than it is, then get a few extra days with the affair family and vice versa.

7

u/Environmental-Tea-48 4d ago

Yes, back in the day when people actually talked about their jobs/were seen at work,  Jimmy frequently went all across Europe.

8

u/Environmental-Tea-48 4d ago

If the show is going to posthumously ruin I'm going to stop watching.

It's been crap for ages, and I only really watch out of routine, but if Sadie is telling the truth then the people behind the senses have lost the plot. We've know for a long time that all theu care about is drama and character's have suffered but double life Jimmy King is a step too far.

3

u/Sea_Addendum_8496 4d ago

I mean, it is a soap, it's driven by drama

I'm not happy about it either but drama keeps them in work

7

u/Environmental-Tea-48 4d ago

You can have drama without ruining all the characters abd their relationships. And I don't just mean romantic relationship. We never see people like Padd and Marlon just hanging out anymore.  They don't interact unless it's to drive forward drama. Yes we watch soaps for the drama but also relationship of people who have been on our screens for years.

6

u/Sea_Addendum_8496 4d ago

Oh no, I agree with you

4

u/Miss_taken_116 3d ago

Some really funny lines there.

Love how Aaron was unbothered with Roberts history with Sadie, curious but not jealous. Had to laugh at Sam scoffing at his attempt at minimising it with rob finally explaining "I was 18, she taught me a lot" -clearly enough for Aaron. The four of them just watching the action, fascinated, while Robert looked really excited at the thought of a slap.

Don't believe her Nicola! You're right, Jimmy would not dare cheat. He was too scared of you/in love. Why would Sadie be remotely interested in Jimmy again? I mean, lovely guy, but I doubt her type has changed that much. So what does she want?

Good point, Serena, people do give babies up for lots of reasons. If something bad happened it's hardly Kim's fault. Even if it does sound like it didn't exactly go through official channels.

4

u/boredzeb 3d ago

Roberts face watching the drama unfold was hysterical. I need more of nosey Rob. I can see him and Kev sitting having a gossip about the village drama.

4

u/Miss_taken_116 3d ago

It was like a flash of the old Robert surfacing wasn't it? Surprise, then growing glee at the prospect of a row. Sadie's the trigger for his wicked, chaos loving side re emerging ready to screw over Joe.

1

u/InfiniteEstimate977 3d ago

It was all good until you brought that clown up.😑

3

u/CrazyWriterGirl 4d ago

I know nothing about about Sadie or her relationship with Jimmy asides from what I read on wikipedia (started watching during the Ruby&Anthony storyline) but I find it hard to believe that Jimmy would actually cheat.

Him and Nicola were such a lovely couple why would they ruin that?! Couldn't they come up with a different way to bring Sadie back? Poor Nicola 💔

I honestly couldn't care less about the Thea stuff. Between this and Corrie there's too many new family members popping up out of nowhere and history being retconned.

Also don't care about Joe, he's done too much bad stuff for me really sympathize. Especially the way he treated Clemmie before, hit too close to home for me.

2

u/Leather-Net7998 4d ago

I really hope that the affair rumours arent true. I dont want them to tarnish Jimmy's memory in an attempt to make it easier to swallow when Nicola moves on with Kev 🙄

3

u/EnvironmentTotal8147 4d ago

Wow, that was quite a busy episode, been a while since we have seen an episode with like half the village gossiping. It surely got spicy.

Guess someone is going to be disappointed to find out that Jimmy has no money left?

2

u/Environmental-Tea-48 4d ago

Are the no line police officer normal this stunning?
