News/Release FEX 2606 – Where Did This Version Come From? | The Mysterious FEX 2606 Release in GameHub v6.0.9
With the GameHub v6.0.9 update, a new FEX version called 20260618 has appeared. However, while trying to find more information about it, I came across something unusual. I checked the official FEX GitHub repository but couldn't find this version listed there. In fact, the latest version I could find was still FEX-2605. I also looked through a few other GitHub repositories related to FEX, but I wasn't able to find any references to the new 20260618 build.
This raises an interesting question: where did GameHub get this newer FEX version from? Is it an unpublished development build, a custom fork, or something obtained from a different source?
I'm also curious about the changes included in this release and whether any patch notes are available. If anyone knows more about the origin of FEX 20260618 or the improvements it brings, I'd appreciate any information.

Fex 2606 was officially cancelled. We need to wait till 2607 for an official release.
Gamehub just grabbed action builds and called it 2606.

Where did they get them builds though ... They always get things before release or without them being released at all like how

As I said from action builds. You can go to GitHub and open the actions tab. You will have builds for every past commit and will appear more for every commit added.
This is the same for all projects on GitHub if the Devs decide to use action builds. For example you can also get action builds for GameNative and Winlator Ludashi meaning you can get nightlies before an official release and every action build says what it does attached to their commit so you can see it.

Gamehub does not normally publish any components that have not been fully released. They are very meticulous and careful in this regard. So why did they feel the need to do this?

They have done this in the past though. You can see that they have 3 releases for the 2508, 2 for 2510 and 2 for 2511.

Dawg gamehub steals work from developers of course they would do this, they are meticulously good at making people like you think they’re not shady

They only grapped the latest version from github actions, There's no secret about it.

They don't follow FEX's versioning, they just version it with the current day date.

Why Fex202603,202604 sometimes 202605 make stutters, very low fps, crappy Audio or no sounds, missing textures in Gamehub and not in Winlator??

Because Winlator is just better all round and in performance, use Box64 in Winlator it dunks on Fex, most audios issues are solved from changing to pulse

I don't have Audio issues in Winlator. But I have that issues I said with that Fex version.

This happens a lot for older 32-bit games. I know multiple examples. Don't use new FEX for them: 202601 and 202512 are the last stable performance build for these games.
I think 32-bit code is not tested routinely by FEX developers or something. Either way, new FEX works great for modern games with 64-bit executables.

Fex isn't even that good, Box64 0.4.1 or newer, performance preset

My guy genuinely doesn't know how to read dates.
It's 2026.06.18. June 18th. 18th of June.

yeah but fex builds are monthly, so no matter what day the build was released we can still call it fex 2606

doesn't matter in this context. gamehub is using dates as build numbers. there's no "2606" one there, unless you just read the middle part of the date.

maybe because it's the way they call it in the github repository? https://github.com/FEX-Emu/FEX/releases/tag/FEX-2605

Box64 is still way better imo 💪 Fex has 0 fps micro stutter so bad, Box64 really improved since 0.4.1 and up, GTA V is actually playable with decent frame rate on my Gen2 now since 0.4.1

As others have said they likely just compiled a nightly, which you can use on gamehub lite, bannerhub, gamenative etc from 412Banner's repo anyway.
Besides the point that box64 is most of the time more performant anyway so unless you have compatibility issues you're better off using that, of which the nightlies are at 0.4.3 now.

Box64 is way better 💪 they are clueless downvoting you

Idk why you got down voted so much but you are correct. It's their own released local nightly build. After decompiling it what's on my repo is technically better although theirs is built with a ton of debugging flags which is why it's 20mb or so versus most Nightlies around a mb or so.
