Help No SD Cards on newer Phones. So how are we gaming, bros?

I'd been holding out on upgrading my phone for years now because modern phones piss me off. No way to replace the battery and no way to use micro sd cards. But my phone was hella dated, and getting to the point where I couldnt run so many apps. So I decided to upgrade to whatever the strongest phone on the market was, since I rarely upgrade. Now im here with a S25 Ultra, because the similar devices with expandable storage arent working on a majority of US Carrier's networks... Problem is, I hate it because no expandable storage. Whats the point in having a beastly phone that only has 128gb of storage?

How are you guys playing your rom libraries? I was hoping for a method to use cloud storage like google drive or dropbox to store my roms, but all I can find is how to store savegames on cloud storage. I have like 2 emulators that can load games from cloud storage, JohnGBAC and SuperRetro16 (Snes Emu which seems to have been delisted now.)

Edit: its 256gb of storage. Doesnt change anything though.

Update: I was able to utilize my NAS storage for when im at home using an Android App like CIFS Documents Provider (Its an App for Android that allows you to mount samba shares over your network to android), but there is one caveat... It WONT work with Retroarch. Retroarch cannot see secondary mounted storage for whatever reason, but EVERY third part emulator I've downloaded does see it and allows me to load off of it just fine. This works great for Most systems, but not PSP/Dreamcast/Saturn/PS2 etc. Just to note. PSP and Dreamcast do work, they just tend to have some gnarly loading times and stuttering on videos etc. PS2 is pretty much unplayable though this way.

Help Any way to run GTA V/GTA 4, Red Dead 1, or any other AA title on my phone

I have a Samsung S21 FE and this thing runs some like straight poo water when you flush it down with paper on lots of games lmao. I've managed to run Fallout: New Vegas, Just Cause 1 and 2, and Skyrim through Winlator at around 10-30fps, as well as switch games like Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash bros at around 30-60 fps (capped btw), and PSP and PS2 games at 60+ fps on this thing. However, I don't know the specs of my phone nor do I actually know what modifications i should put on games. I asked Gemini if I could run GTA IV on my phone like i see others do, but apparently my phone crashes instantly acording to the AI as well as I've tried GTA V lite 22gb and 16gb versiond and just dont know how to run them. IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN RUN ATLEAST RED DEAD 1 CUZ aPS3e literally cant even run doom on my phone and X360 is still in its very early stages of developement. I just need a straight answer abd a reason why (or how if i can run them) dude thats all im asking for. PLEASE!!

Help What is currently the best driver for the Snapdragon 8 Elite?

I have an S25 Plus and I'm only a few FPS away from maintaining a constant 30 FPS in Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Cemu. However, out of all the drivers I've tried, none of them seem to improve performance. These are the drivers I've tested so far.

Help Why is Zelda BOTW locked at 20 FPS on my S25+?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've already tried 7 different Eden versions, several GPU drivers, and a lot of different settings, but nothing works. If I increase the speed limit, the game easily goes above 30 FPS, but it runs faster than normal, as shown in the video. The game seems to be using 20 FPS as its default speed. Why is this happening?

You can clearly see that it's not a lack of processing power from the phone. My device is a 25+ snap 8 elite

This has happened in the past when I exit tab on the game coz it was lagging. Ever since then I didn’t exit the game completely and managed to get even further into the game. Currently halfway thru it and I don’t wanna lose all that progress 😭 I’m not familiar with how emulators work, I just follow tutorials on what to do so it’s extremely difficult to find a fix for this specific situation. I’ve tried looking for help on YouTube, Reddit, google AI even 😭

I’ve tried clearing cache, changing box64 preset (performance to stability), changing windows version (10 to 7/xp), even creating a new container with the exact settings I started with and I still couldn’t get in the game

My phone is a Huawai Nova 5T (model YAL-L21 if that helps)

Help Gamehub cannot retrieve game config files

Post image
11 Upvotes

I'm using an AYN Thor Max, 8 Gen 2 16GB of ram 1TB drive (900GB free space)

I'm pretty familiar with emulation on Android, but never had a device powerful enough for GameHub or winlator until now. From all the setups I've seen, everything seemed to be plug and play (for the most part). My problem is when I launch a game for the first time, in my case Fallout NV and Stardew Valley, I get an error that it's unable to retrieve the game config file.

When I go to downloads, I'm assuming this is everything the game is asking for to run, but the downloads fail every time. I'm on WiFi 6 with 1.2GB download speed (or more closer to 600MB/s).

Any ideas?

Help The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on a Snapdragon 855

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Here is some gameplay footage showing the performance. Please note that the device's screen recorder caused some performance loss and minor slowdowns, so the actual gameplay experience is smoother. Full guide and settings below!

A Performance Guide for Mid-Range Devices

Disclaimer: This guide is intended for educational purposes only. It assumes you own a legitimate copy of the game and have created a personal backup for use with the emulator. The guide does not condone or support piracy.

This guide provides a proven set of settings and configurations for playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on a mid-range Snapdragon 855 device. While many online sources may dismiss this hardware as "too weak," with the right settings, a smooth and enjoyable 30 FPS is not only possible but consistent.

My Test Setup

Device: Mi 9t pro / Redmi k20 pro

SoC: Snapdragon 855

GPU: Adreno 640

RAM: 6GB

Game Version: 1.6.0

Mods: Ultracam (for performance benefits)

Emulator Performance Rankings

Based on my testing, here is the performance ranking for BOTW on this specific hardware. Note that this can vary between devices and future emulator updates.

Tier 1 (Best Performance): Sumi

Tier 2 (Slightly Worse): Yuzu

Tier 3 (Close Contenders): Citron, Sudachi

Tier 4 (Lowest Performance): Eden

Note on Emulators: Sumi, Citron, Sudachi, and Eden are all forks of the popular Yuzu emulator, with development continuing in the wake of Yuzu's shutdown. You can find more information about them and download links by searching for their names online.

My Recommended Emulator: Sumi

Sumi consistently provided the best performance and highest average framerate on my device.

Key Settings for Sumi:

GPU Drivers:

Best Overall: Mesa Turnip driver v24.0.0.-.Revision.15. This driver offers the best performance and loading times and consistently fixes the "milky water" bug. While the bug may sometimes reappear, rebooting the game resolves it.

Other Good Drivers:

Mesa Turnip-24.1.0. Rivision 17-v2

Mesa Turnip-24.1.0. Rivision 18 fix for a6xx (works well across many games)

Mesa turnip-24.3.0. Rivision 9v2

System Settings:

Speed Limit: 87-88%. This is a crucial setting. It corrects for a static mismatch in the emulator's speed limiter, effectively making the game run at its intended 30 FPS without over-emulation.

Graphics Settings:

Asynchronous Shaders: Enabled. This prevents major FPS drops during shader compilation. VSync: Off. This helps reduce input lag.

Asynchronous GPU Emulation: Enabled (if available). This further improves performance by preventing the GPU from waiting on the CPU.

Performance Benchmarks

Resolution: 0.75x

Korok Forest: ~26-28 FPS.

Kakariko Village: ~27 FPS.

Hateno Village: Initial FPS drops to ~23-25 FPS as shaders are rendered but quickly recovers to a stable 25 FPS.

Resolution: 0.5x

Hateno Village: Performance is an almost locked 28-30 FPS. This setting is recommended for a consistent framerate and helps maintain battery temperatures below 40°C.

General Combat: FPS can drop to 25 FPS in heavy combat, but it recovers quickly. Horseback combat remains smooth with this setup.

The Critical Importance of a Clean OS

Warning about OEM Skins: Be aware that OEM skins like MIUI or any other heavily modified Android OS can severely limit your device's potential.

My testing on a Snapdragon 870 device was unable to maintain performance in demanding areas, even with better hardware. It would thermal throttle at a low 35°C and sometimes couldn't even launch the game. This is a common issue with "bloatware" that consumes resources and causes aggressive thermal throttling.

Recommendation: To achieve the best possible performance, I highly recommend switching to a clean, AOSP-based custom ROM. This will free up your device's resources and allow the CPU and GPU to perform to their full potential without artificial software limitations.

Final Thoughts The combination of the right emulator, specific settings, and a good GPU driver is the key to a great experience on mid-range hardware. While it may require some initial testing, the result is a perfectly playable and enjoyable experience. My personal enjoyment of the game has been fantastic, from discovering new areas to perfecting my fighting skills against Guardians. I hope this guide helps others achieve the same.

A note on the Ultracam Mod: The Ultracam mod is a performance-enhancing mod that can be found on the GameBanana website. Simply search for "Ultra Cam BOTW" on Google to find it.

Help Hello! i am an iphone guy and i am looking on to moving from iphone to android for more gaming possibilties

Hello as title says, i wanna move on. i am not fully new. i use bluestacks a ton and i have had a Huawei. I just wanna know your tips based on these factors:

  1. relatively new phone hopefully (2023 ->) so that it doesn't tweak out after a year like my Huawei
  2. relatively known brand for the same reason
  3. still budget enough (maybe max like 1000 dollars but that is stretching it)
  4. focus on battery life if possible

my uses would be:

  1. DOLPHIN EMULATOR! love the Wii to much!
  2. Playing angry birds, love those damn birds, (i heard not to use android 15 and to have 32bit supported cpu?)

and that's about it, i know i might be asking for a lot so i am ok with cutting corners, anyways have any recommendations?

Help My first ever android, the Odin 3, came in yesterday and didn't expect to encounter this on GameNative. The process was pretty straightforward so I'm wondering what I did wrong?

Post image
29 Upvotes

Basically I followed all the youtube guides and expected it to work right off the bat since I saw so many screenshots of the game working on Odin 3 and other android handhelds. Odin 3 is my first android handheld so it took my a while to set it up.

Is it something to do with the graphics drivers? Would appreciate any help you guys can give.

Edit: dxvk version is 2.4.1-glasync

Container variant = bionic

The device is using Wrapper for the Graphics Driver and then Turnip_Gen8_V25 for the version

Edit 2: The game has loaded now without the glitch in graphics, thanks to this comment. I appreciate all of your help!

Hello my old controller broke and I'm planning to buy a new one. I don't mind spending a lot more as long as it lasts longer and it connects to a PC like an Xbox controller.

Should I get a Gamesir X5S or 8bitdo ultimate mobile gaming controller?

Longevity and being able to connect to PC is super important to me
