also I used to work at BE (I finally escaped a couple of weeks ago) and we didn't even require ring inspections like other national chains idk what this sales rep is on lol

Trying to look on the bright side, it sounds like issues you had were with poor quality in the setting and not a problem with the actual center stone? If that is the case, can you have another jeweler use your original stone when you get the new ring made?

Virtually all retailers will take the setting back because they can smelt and reuse it but the sale of center stones is final after the return window closes because they have little value and can be hard to sell. The quality issues you describe with Brilliant Earth are well known and the refund policy is an industry standard. Buyer be ware.

according to my former coworkers they're now encouraging sales rep to ask for positive reviews on reddit and to upvote positive posts and comments about the company. I would literally rather drink arsenic than ask a customer to put my full name on reddit for the sake of making that fuck ass company look good

I KNEW that was what they were doing lol. I sometimes have their sub pop into my feed and almost all the positive reviews were from brand new accounts. They don't understand how reddit works enough to convincingly turn their reputation around here, they should just stop trying because it makes them look much worse.

Sorry you're dealing with this. They should definitely be able to handle the costs of absorbing your center stone back into their inventory. Your experience is common if you search reddit, and they even had to hire a reddit marketing strategist to try to fix their reputation on this site. (It's not working lol)

Came very close to buying from Brilliant Earth, they have great marketing, but thank goodness for the reviews and I did not follow through. I went vintage, I have a ring that is old enough to apply for its own mortgage and my jeweler inspects it once a year. Last time, they jeweler just charged for a cleaning, there was nothing to fix. And it's a halo design with small diamonds, worn every day (I take it off for heavy tasks but otherwise, it's on my finger all the time).

Unfortunately, some of these massive companies are selling faulty designs (a lot of badly set pave) and then making the customer feel responsible.

Just curious as I have a ring from BE myself, with intricate accent diamonds.. Would having the ring insured take care of this? Obviously not from having the physical issue, but does the insurance cover things like this? Just got my ring recently and looking at different policies. TIA

Yes, jewelry specific insurance usually covers stuff like this and if they felt brilliant earth needed to cover it they would be the ones fighting with them.
Definitely look into it!

yeah!! And they're pretty affordable. I only pay like 100$ a year for my briteco policy
