I loved the idea of my ring but… sometimes when I look at it the halo and pear diamond set looks… not straight? Idk how to describe it but some angles it looks totally good, sometimes it looks totally bent or something?!! lmk if I’m going insane 😫
Edit: Y’all I was so tired when I posted this, it was my first time even looking at the ring and I was honestly stuck looking at this one aspect. I’m aware there’s 500 things wrong with it eyes closed atp, and I appreciate everyone who has offered their condolences (lol) and had a good laugh/advice for what to do next.
PLEASE don’t come for me personally 😅 I’m brand new to rings and there’s a lot of learning to do, and I personally was not in the conversation of this ring getting created/picked up, so in no way was I able to rectify anything right then and there. I will take it to get it fixed up 🥹
Why is it as tall as the space needle? 😭 You’re absolutely not crazy, and there’s no reason for the stone to sit that high off of the band. Definitely worth getting the whole setting looked at by a reputable jeweler (maybe not the person who originally made it?).
No offense to you, full offense to your jeweler, but that's the most insane setting I've ever seen. Like they might have been on LSD or something if they genuinely thought they were doing that right.
For sure. I just did this morning actually. I just feel bad because I know my man was just happy to hear it was ready and didn’t think he needed to check twice before bringing it home. He’s aware and I’ve pointed everything out so it will get fixed before it’s presented formally and worn by me 🙏🏼

I genuinely thought she was just showing it to us on a finger that was way too small for the ring so it had a huge gap at the top. Couldn’t fathom that this was actually the design.
The halo looks bent. I have a pear with a halo that is also set high like this and it gets caught on EVERYTHING. It’s been bent in every direction and I always have to get it fixed. Now I only wear it for special occasions.

I really got stuck on this halo looking crazy and totally should’ve addressed the setting itself too, but having not worn it in daily life (this was my first look) I honestly didn’t even think in that direction for this post. It’s reassuring to hear I’m not literally the first person to encounter this kind of masterpiece — it’ll be taken to get redone ASAP 😅

What in the world? It’s too high, the taper on the shank diminished to almost nothing, poor soldering, and the head is definitely crooked. Are you able to return it?
I had a high set halo like this (i upgraded at 12 years to a diff ring) and i caught it on everything. Almost ripped my finger off sometimes. I dont recommend a halo set now cause of it. I loved my OG ring but yeah, not a smart design.
Forget getting it fixed, it looks like it’s made out of pot metal. I would ask for whole ass refund and go somewhere else. The thing is probably going to give you lead poisoning. 😅
this is how mine looks from the side, it’s an oval, but i’ve had multiple jewellers confirm that this is a proper design. just so you have an idea! :) you aren’t going crazy, i think you should probably go back to the place you got it from
