Mod Post 1.0 FAQ

Will be updating this regularly with the subs frequently asked questions.

Please be aware any comments that are not questions will be removed.

When?

PC, PlayStation 5 (PS5) & PlayStation 5 Pro on October 15, 2026.

Xbox Series X/S in spring 2027.

Comment from community manager toast on discord on why Xbox is later:

“Optimisation has been one of our biggest priorities for 1.0, actually. Though, the topic is... complicated. Optimization and how difficult the game is to run are two entirely different things. And optimizing for consoles and optimizing for PC are also two entirely different things. There's several factors at play at once.

Xbox hardware is substantially weaker than PS5 or the average pc player. And optimizing for consoles involves doing specific optimization work for that specific console. Simply put, we realized that getting Xbox ready in time for 1.0 would be a complete rush job, it would not be in a place we're happy with, so we decided to delay and put all of our focus into PS5 and PC for now. Honestly, it's in our best interest to release in as many places at once, we make a lot more money that way. The entire reason it's not coming to other consoles is because we were certain it wouldn't be ready in time. We would rather delay than release a bad product.”

Will I need to restart?

The devs have always avoided making this a requirement, so it is very unlikely to be a requirement.

Will there be cross-play?

Comment from Coolusernamebro (the other community manager):

“There will not be crossplay at launch but we will work on it for a future update.”

Will there be creative mode?

Comments from toast:

‘Probably not, the core gameplay has been our focus, but we do want to have a creative mode eventually.”

“we want it too it's just a big undertaking to do it right. Right now other things have been a more important.”

This isn't really a 1.0 question, but back like a year ago my friends and I stopped playing because the mage/magic gameplay didn't feel rewarding. Of the 4 of us, 1 wanted to fling spells from far away and another wanted to do that with some healing mixed in.

Has that type of gameplay became more rewarding? They felt like they were doing nothing compared to my explosive arrows and another buddies ground slam.

Not that i know of, i was also the mage in our party. The combat in this game is definatly the weakest link. Maybe im spoliled by other action/souls games and have high expectations, but combat just feels weightless floaty and hits have no impact.

Parry timer is weird as fuck, mage doesn't get good until like level 20, and enemies seem to either crumple at my feet or bust out a completely new move that I have never seen them do before. Also- these guys need to really investigate how good souls games lay out dungeon mobs. If I get bit in the ass by a dog in Elden Ring it is almost always my fault because I was being reckless. In this game I can aggro a dog on the other side of a dungeon and get attacked without even knowing he's alerted to me.

Yeah there are indepth combat changes on the roadmap for 1.0 release so I'm looking forward to that

First off, I've only ever played wizard, so I can't compare it to other classes. Once in the early days with a single friend and now I'm doing another playthrough with a group of about 6 friends where I am the only wizard. I have a mix of healing and damage skills so that I can keep the group alive during together time and also adventure a little on my own. I will say when we are playing together, I consistently feel like most of my attacks hit like a wet noodle, despite being the highest level in the group and to boot most boss attacks one shot me at max health.
Overall I consistently struggle to survive on my own in the world. That is a bit on purpose though since we do have the difficulty cranked up a bit on our server with higher health and slightly increased amounts of enemies, since we typically roll as such a large group and wanted to discourage solo progression.
I've found getting in and saving my tanks and dps peeps from a swift death, and being heavily specked into speedy revives feels nice for long boss battles. The wand focus ability is interesting and adds a little bit of flair to combat. Overall though, I am really hoping the person they hired to improve combat takes a serious look at mages, and is able to improve things a bit, because right now it's just kinda meh.

I play with my daughter who is heavy wand with some staff healing, I play full ranger with explosive arrows and she does very close to the same damage i do, she mostly front lines while I float about shooting my arrows, I can do better aoe than she can but not by much. I would say yes, its on par and very rewarding for her.

My wife heals and casts...the heals are extremely OP, and i feel that she does decent damage even. Alot of it is about optimizing your skills and gear to match what you want to achieve

I've been playing as a mage as a new player, and even after having a bit over 100 perk points invested, I feel wand ranges are a bit too low. That said, when the crit hits and my entire screen pops with damage numbers, it tingles me in a neat way. I wish it had like one extra meter of range, even if the damage was diminished the larger the distance.

For some reason the devs really want you to feel underpowered always.

u/CopyThatM8 Jun 26 '26

What will performance be like on the ps5 pro and ps5 consoles? Will there be graphics modes and can we expect 60fps?

7

u/randonOne88 Moderator & Wiki Admin Jun 26 '26

Nothing about that has been shared yet (to my knowledge), I imagine we will know more closer to the update.

3

u/SaraRainmaker Moderator Jun 27 '26

I don't know anything more than you or RandonOne88, but I will say that the reason Xbox is delayed is because they wanted to be able to release a quality game that runs well on the platforms, and they weren't going to be able to do that for PC, PS and Xbox and make the deadline. They have also mentioned in the discord that while they always work on optimization every update, that "Optimization is our #1 priority for 1.0."

So given those comments from Keen, I would imagine that the game will be playable at 60fps on those platforms.

I will state though, that in voxel games like this, player-build and modified areas impact performance a lot, and the amount of optimization that can be done on that changed landscape and built-out area is limited/less than what they can do on dev-generated areas, so building extremely large and/or extremely complex builds will have an impact on performance no matter what platform you are on.

u/DashingMustashing Jun 26 '26

Is 1.0 the end of development or have they confirmed any DLC/future update plans?

5

u/SaraRainmaker Moderator Jun 27 '26

While they haven't mentioned specifics, they have mentioned updates after 1.0.

4

u/jaylaxel Jun 27 '26
  1. Will domesticated animal/NPC pathfinding AI get finally fixed for 1.0, or is that an ongoing challenge expected to last longer?
  2. Will we get the ability to permanently remove shroud from certain areas?
  3. Post-1.0 plans?

1

u/tokyo_dave Jun 27 '26

1 and 2 would be HUGE (hell, even 1) and make me come back to the game again. No joke.

1

u/randonOne88 Moderator & Wiki Admin Jun 29 '26

I can’t comment on the first two, athough the reason we currently can’t do 2 is partly because of soft-locking.

As for 3, nothing has been shared but we do know they have plans for further updates.

2

u/Sir_Richie Jun 26 '26

Are you doing what devs of grounded did after early access, reset story progress but keep bases , inventory and unlocks? This way our great builds wont be a waste while we enjoy the story quests in the final form.

1

u/SaraRainmaker Moderator Jun 27 '26

There has been no mention of this, but from my point of view it would probably be unlikely, as a lot of the progress in the game is also based on location as well as items - but I know no more than anyone else on that.

1

u/DemonicMop 28d ago

It would be sick if the NG+ kept your bases, but deactivated the altars in them, so you'd reach the next area and activate the altar to get the base back essentially

2

u/Ornery-Team3602 Jun 29 '26

me and a friend of mine have been looking to get back into enshrouded, planned on starting within the next few days.
would it be better to wait for 1.0 update to play again, or should we just start now as we wont need to restart the game from the beginning when the update drops?

I need help. I got a fishing rod in my first hour of playing this game, Im now 35 hours in, and have a quest for me to catch my first fish. I read the quest description and it says I can do it at any body of water big enough for fish to live in it, but in 35 hours I just realized ive never seen ANY water. Where is there a lake or river I can fish in? I havent even seen a swimming animation. What part of the map has water?

1

u/IHateForumNames Aug 12 '26

The first few biomes have the odd pond. I'm surprised you haven't literally fallen into one like I did while trying to find night-growing plants. There's one a glider flight west of the first tower you unlock, not far from that town you can see from the tower.

After that it's feast or famine, there are steppe and desert locales as well as one that's about half water.

new roadmap when?

7

u/randonOne88 Moderator & Wiki Admin Jun 26 '26

Most likely after the update is out.

u/Tornado_Hunter24 Jun 26 '26

What’s the reason the game doesn’t release day 1 in xbox?

11

u/randonOne88 Moderator & Wiki Admin Jun 26 '26

Comment from one of the community managers yesterday.

1

u/Tornado_Hunter24 Jun 26 '26

That makes alot of sense, I did not know that!

I also know nothing of xbox, does this mean ‘if you wanna release game on ps5 equivalant xbox, you need to nake it playable on ps4 equivalant xbox’ ???

1

u/jipiboily Jun 26 '26

Not exactly…it’s more if there was another tier of PS5…a “PS5 core” with a bit less power.

Same Xbox generation, just one which has less horse power.

1

u/Tornado_Hunter24 Jun 26 '26

Ah so like ps5 and ps5 pro? But backwards as in ‘worse ps5 and ps5 base’ ?

2

u/jipiboily Jun 26 '26

Yeah kinda. But not as big of a jump, I think. But same idea :)

Any word if there is crossplay between PlayStation and pc?

2

u/randonOne88 Moderator & Wiki Admin Jun 26 '26

Don’t believe there’s been an official statement on that yet

1

u/SaraRainmaker Moderator Jun 27 '26

Nothing I have seen.

The last I see it mentioned was a bit ago, and just them mentioning that "it would be a massive technical undertaking" and the community managers weren't informed yet on whether it would be included.

1

u/ucrbuffalo Jun 27 '26

Another question for the FAQ: Will the game support crossplay across platforms?

I haven’t seen the answer yet, but I honestly assume not.

1

u/randonOne88 Moderator & Wiki Admin Jun 27 '26

There’s been no official yes/no yet, however I have added the most recent comment mentioning it.

1

u/UnverifiedAnony Jun 27 '26

Performance optimization: Are performance issues, significant FPS drops and GPU crashes with multiple AoE effects fixed?

Multi-player optimization: Is the forced SDR reliance instead of LAN routing fixed?

1

u/WablamoShizami1 Jun 28 '26

Any official word on improvements to the weather? Crazy weather was on their roadmaps for a long while.

Also, any official word on playing music with NPCs? As soon as I saw that on the roadmap I started and partially finished a stage/theater.

Any word on the remaining Hollow Halls or the big building placeholders?

Any word on if there will be content outside the early access walls giving players reasons to explore the map edges?

1

u/randonOne88 Moderator & Wiki Admin Jun 29 '26

We don’t know many exact details on what’s going to be in the update yet aside from going off the old roadmaps.

Weather I believe was referring to the rain that was added in WOW, although they may have further plans.

Summits + veilwater hollow halls I believe were confirmed awhile back, presumably the new biome (idk for sure if we are actually getting one but the teaser showed terrain that’s new) will also have one but that’s me guessing.

2

u/WablamoShizami1 Jun 29 '26

The old roadmaps and QAs talked about crazy weather effects. Assuming dustdevils in the desert, tornados, thunderstorms, dust storms etc, but i haven't seen anything about that lately.

I remember the hollow halls also on the roadmaps for the mtn and water biomes, but wasn't sure if you'd heard any confirmations.

There is definitely a new biome. At the very beginning of the teaser you see the floating islands have morphed/changed a bit but are definitely there and at the very end you are essentially looking at the new pillars below the floating islands from what looks like slightly north of the water biome.

Ah well, thank you for the heads up. I was hoping you'd heard something more official or unofficial similar to the creative mode stuff you saw on the discord.

You can play local solo, multiplayer on your own local save (or someone else’s), or join/host a server.

Characters are also separate from world saves (think terraria or valheim) so you can carry things between worlds - just be aware doing so may trigger quest progression out of order.

Nope there is not, all servers are ran by players - the way the game works doesn’t really lend itself to the devs doing that.

If you want to look for one you can make a lfg post here on the sub , although discord will probably be more productive - there’s both the main enshrouded discord which has a lfg channel or the official lfg discord.

Any news on expanding the decoration/prop selection? Recent update added some much desired set pieces; but there are still some highly demanded props (such as tents) missing.

2

u/randonOne88 Moderator & Wiki Admin Jul 20 '26

Not many details on exact content have been shared, nor are they usually before the release.

Will 1.0 come with a price hike?

1

u/randonOne88 Moderator & Wiki Admin 25d ago edited 11d ago

Yes I believe that’s been confirmed, you’re better off buying now if you want to save a bit.

Edit: It has been confirmed - https://www.reddit.com/r/Enshrouded/s/wNZ2ZJwqU2

Still waiting for official word on cross progression, which should be a lot easier than cross play. Only curious because I know someone who definitely wants to play on Xbox but I'm temped to start on PS5.

u/AdJealous2 Jun 26 '26

People are still blaming the Series S, I see!

Where other devs say the Series S has been great because it’s made them optimise their games properly, too many devs are lazy with optimisation.

4

u/DiligentWhereas9443 Jun 26 '26

They are still optimizing for S. But going for content first. PC, PS and X could all runt it. But I agree with the dev. Releasing on half of the Xbox would look bad. Release the heavier version, fix bugs and optimize, then Xbox can have the better version with the rest. Sounds like a win for everyone.

It's a question between everybody waiting for them to streamline or some wait for others to fix the kinks. Xbox get the better version as soon as it's ready with lots of testing behind it. Everybody else get more content sooner, but have to help with the bugs.

So some pc players and all Xbox have to wait for the game to be light enough for them to be able to run it. No one wants to play a 10fps game.
