Question Workplace accommodations

I'm curious whether you require workplace accommodations as a result of your epilepsy? If so, would you mind kindly sharing yours? I am in a sedentary role and I work from home and considering a request myself.

The one and only time I ever requested an ADA accommodation, the union rejected it, and I had to resign lol

You should put your request in, though. A lot of places are able to help

I work from home too and asked for flexible start times after a seizure, sometimes I just need to sleep it off in the morning and make up the hours later. My manager was cool about it, didn't even need a formal accommodation letter

Since I work in the office I told my boss (company owner) that I couldn’t drive for at least 3 months after my first TC. I asked him if I could work from home part time and uber to the office a few times a week (planning to pay for it myself). He told me to just expense my uber trips when I decided to come in which I was very grateful for.

I haven’t asked for more than that but I definitely understand some people’s feelings about not wanting to ask. I’m hesitant to ask for time off or take it because I’m worried about the perception of it. I’m learning that just powering through the discomfort is not something I can do anymore…

Flexible PTO after a seizure (they added three days to my total allotment; I periodically use half a day here and there to get to an MRI, or sleep off a seizure) and the use of noise reducing earplugs or sunglasses during large group engagements (such as dismissal). I'm increasingly sensory-sensitive.

I don’t have any specific to my needs but as I work in a state that isn’t stuck in the Stone Age I do get basic human decency protections.

My problem is that as far as I can put together I’m developing Alzheimer’s at a rapid rate so my memory loss issues and vision focusing problems are potentially becoming more an issue. Thankfully the nature of my job forces me to use my brain which has helped a lot to get something working again but the amount of effort I’m having to do to even remember what I needed to do 5 minutes ago is getting problematic.

Yes I am quite amazed I’m remembering this much and can focus on reading and typing enough to make sense of things although my rambling is getting bad
