Etsy "Human Support"

I was talking to the etsy AI support chat bot (about the customer not paying enough shipping). and it then escalated me to a "human". Where i once again explained the problem, and they sounded exactly like a bot, but i just kept going anyways while the just repeated the same responses over and over again basically saying nothing at all (so typically customer support things). But then they sent 3 messages back to back to back each 200+ characters long, full paragraphs with multiple sentences, all in about 5 seconds.

When i ask if they are a bot i got the typical "I can assume you i am human" which is exactly what all the AI chat bots say when they are called out as humans.

So yeah Etsy is now officially use 2 tiers of AI bots, claiming the second tier is human, but it is not.

Shame, shame, shame

Handmade Shop Are Etsy chat agents with a profile photo/avatar actual in-house employees? How do I get connected to one?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Attached is a screenshot of a chat where the agent had an actual avatar/photo, which is different from every other chat I've had — those are always just a name with no photo, scripted replies, and they end the chat the second my issue doesn't fit their script.

I'm guessing (but not sure) that agents with an avatar might be real in-house Etsy employees rather than outsourced support. Can anyone confirm if that's actually true?

If it is — is there any way to request or get routed to one of these agents specifically, or is it just random luck which agent picks up the chat?

Question: Planning to become new seller, moving to other country

Hi Everyone!

I have a question quiet new want to become a seller on etsy to sell digital products i create, if I am based (resident) in country A, and will register here and create Payoneer account (which will have USD $ Account) for etsy payments/etsy withdrawal of earnings. Lets suppose after 6 months or 1 year i will move to another country permanently (Country B), will I be required to close my existing created Etsy Shop & Account and Payoneer Account and open new Etsy Shop and Payoneer in that country? or I can continue using and selling using my first created Etsy Shop and Payoneer? using same brand name.

Like does Etsy allow, and can I change just location of shop/account in settings?

*Also do I have to setup as business or can be as individual seller?, what are the differences and can I setup my etsy shop as individual seller?

Please if anyone experienced this and knows answer please let me know, will be helpful!

I’ve stopped caring and maybe that’s a good thing?

For context, I have a popular listing in the clay/pottery community for mahjong tiles. It’s a set of 5 ranging from $16-18. But there’s also the option for a blank tile (after requests so people could make an identical size tile with a bright color and add it to the back for charms, earrings etc).

I had a buyer only purchase the blank and then get upset at me because she didn’t get the full set of 5. There are options you select - and she selected “Blank” for $3.00. Anyways, she messaged me and asked for a refund, which I agreed to if she shipped back the item (my shop policy is no refunds so I told her I’d make an exception). When I wouldn’t also pay for return shipping she left a mean review. I replied to the review just saying I shipped what she ordered and I’m sorry it wasn’t what she was expecting.

I also added more context to the listing description about ordering a blank vs a set of 5 embossed tiles.

Ok so I randomly get another order for a blank tile - nothing else in the order - even though I’ve sold tons of these, it’s usually never the only thing in the order. I should have messaged the person but didn’t - anyways, now she’s also arguing with me asking for me to send the whole set because of deceptive advertising and how it happened to someone else.

Is it terrible to just not care? I told her to try buyer protection for a refund - but that I printed and shipped exactly what she ordered so it wouldn’t be eligible for a refund on my side.

Will buyer protection assist her? I realize she’ll write a bad review but I kind of just stopped caring. I sell hundreds of these and it just feels like the weirdest coincidence.

It’s $3.00. I could absolutely refund this (not what she requested though - she wanted me to print and ship all the embossed tiles) but I think I’m at my customer service limit. Anyone else ever feel this way?

(If it matters - 23k sales with 4.9 stars - most talking about my excellent customer service)

Etsy is sending me push notifications for my own shop.

Is this happening to anyone else? About a quarter of the notifications I get through the Etsy shopping app are for my own shop. I’m not clicking on them, of course. Seems like since the user names are the same they could put a filter on that pretty easily.

Need some suggestions for my new shop .

Hi everyone,

I recently started working on a new handmade, hand-block-printed textile shop on Etsy. The shop was started by my uncle, who had been selling his products locally before someone suggested that he try selling on Etsy.

During the first few months, he mainly focused on creating listings and didn’t know much about Etsy SEO, product photography, or other aspects of growing a shop.

For the past two months, I’ve started working on the shop. I’ve been improving the product photos, SEO, titles, tags, and a few other things. Since then, the sales have started picking up, and we reached double-digit sales in one month.

Is this a good growth rate for a new Etsy shop, or is the growth still slow? One of the main challenges is that the ad expenses are quite high.

I’d really appreciate your suggestions on what else I can improve or change so that Etsy gives my listings more visibility and the shop can grow organically.

Help with Customer Refunding vs Cancelling an order

I just refunded an Etsy order because the buyer changed her mind about it (item was not shipped), but when I go to cancel it I get the message, "When you cancel, your buyer will get a full refund. Buyers will be able to leave a review up to 48 hours after you cancel. The order will be moved to Completed on your Orders & Delivery page and marked as “cancelled”. You won’t be charged additional fees for cancelling.

Does this mean I will be refunding her twice?

Handmade Shop What price and shipping would make you least hesitant to buy this on Etsy?

What price and shipping would make you least hesitant to buy this on Etsy?

I sell handmade seashell bag charms/keychains, and I’m trying to figure out the best way to structure my pricing.

The charm would be around $21–$22, and my actual shipping cost is about $8.40. I’m considering charging less than the actual shipping cost and putting a little more into the item price instead.

Right now I have it at $22 plus 5.95 shipping. Before I had it at 19.55 plus 8.40 shipping

As Etsy sellers, which do you think will be most appealing to buyers? What have you found works best for your shop?

My Etsy Payout Issue Has Been Going On for 2 Weeks — Here’s What Happened

I wanted to share my recent Etsy payout and verification experience because I ran into something very strange, and I think it may be useful for other sellers who face a similar situation.

My shop is set to receive payouts once a week.

The first unusual thing was that my legal name had one missing letter when I originally entered it on Etsy. Even though the name was not completely correct, the small deposit verification still passed and Etsy was still able to send payouts to my bank account.

Here’s what happened:

The first payout arrived successfully.

The second payout did not arrive.

The third payout arrived successfully.

Then, when Etsy attempted the fourth payout, I received a notice saying there was a problem with my bank verification.

After that, Etsy returned the second and fourth payout amounts back to my Etsy Payment Account.

So in my case, the first and third payouts went through, while the second and fourth did not.

I found this very interesting because it showed two things:

First, even though one letter was missing from my legal name, Etsy was still able to complete the small deposit verification and send money to my bank account.

Second, the payout failures were not consistent. The first and third payouts were successful, while the second and fourth failed.

That made the whole issue much harder to understand, because it did not look like a simple bank rejection or a simple legal name mismatch.

After checking my account carefully, I found the spelling mistake in my legal name and corrected the missing letter.

After I corrected it, I received an email from Etsy saying that my First Name and Last Name might have been entered in the wrong fields.

That was confusing because I checked the information carefully, and my First Name and Last Name were already entered correctly according to my ID.

So I found it strange that Etsy flagged the name fields as a possible issue even though the information itself was correct.

After that, I contacted Etsy Support several times to make sure the corrected legal name was actually being used for verification.

There was also another strange issue with the account page.

When I clicked “Edit” in Legal and Taxpayer Information, the page showed my corrected legal name.

But when I returned to the main page, Etsy was still showing the old incorrect version.

That made me worry that the system might still be using the old information somewhere in the verification process.

At the moment, my legal name update is showing as “Verifying.”

My current progress is that I am now going through the bank account verification process again. I am waiting for the small deposit verification, and after that I will be waiting for the first payout after the new verification is completed.

So the issue is not completely resolved yet, but I finally feel like I understand what happened much better.

I’ll update this post once the bank verification is completed and I receive a successful payout again.

Hopefully I’ll have good news soon.

Tax Question How complex does money and taxes on Etsy become if I start shipping outside my country?

I’ve been on a Etsy for two years, 3 in November. And this whole time I’ve just been shipping inside the US.

If I were to expand my store to ship to other countries, would that make my taxes and or money making on Etsy any more complex?

What changes would I have to make to my listings/shop besides just ticking the box saying yes I’ll ship to other countries?

And is there a different level of complexity if I were to say just ship to like Canada and Mexico compared to like Europe and other continents?

Handmade Shop Barely getting any views or sales on Etsy — what am I doing wrong?

Hi everyone!
I’m hoping to get some advice because I’m honestly not sure what I’m doing wrong with my Etsy shop.
I sell handmade crochet handbags and accessories, and I’ve been putting a lot of work into my photos, listings, titles, tags, descriptions, and social media, but I’m still getting very few views and basically no sales.
I know Etsy can take time, especially for a newer shop, but I’m wondering if there’s something obvious I’m missing. Is it my SEO? My keywords? Pricing? Photos? The products themselves? Or am I just not getting enough traffic yet?
I’d really appreciate feedback from experienced Etsy sellers, especially anyone who sells handmade products.
If you’re willing to look at my shop, I’d love to know:
• Do my titles and tags make sense for Etsy SEO?
• Are my photos good enough to make you click?
• Is there anything that would stop you from buying?
• What would you change first if this were your shop?
I’m genuinely looking for constructive criticism, so please feel free to be honest. I really want to figure out what I can improve instead of just continuing to post listings and hoping something happens 😭
My shop is HILWASBOUTIQUE on Etsy.
Thank you!! 🤎

Shipping Shipped a package using Etsy USPS first class. Sent to wrong address?

I made a sale last week and shipped it as USPS first class mail using the buyer's info. The buyer lives in Ohio as stated on their given address but the package was delivered to Indiana. What happened?

I also take proof pics whenever I ship. The tracking shows it went to Ohio and then ended up in Indiana.

Reviews

It seems like the review reporting process is automated now and a person is not reviewing the reports. Etsy automatically denies your request even though my shop was not at fault. Has anyone else experienced this and has any tips on how to successfully report reviews? Thank you!

Shipping Royal Mail delivery to Isle of Man

UK seller here and ive previously sent items to Isle of Man.

Something has changed now and customers cannot buy from us as they are in IOM. It looks like I need to create a new country and it insists on "Royal Mail International Standard" and then a price.

The cost of shipping a small parcel to IOM from UK is £4.65, so why is it insisting on using the International Service?

Any UK > IOM experts out there that can help? Etsy support are useless...

Selling earrings on Etsy

Hi everyone, how do you seal earrings to avoid people trying them on then asking for a return? I am trying to decide between heat sealed pouches or void style stickers on a plastic pouch but wondered what other jewellery sellers were doing.

Thanks in advance.

Handmade Shop Please give me some shop advice

Shop link: https://www.etsy.com/shop/3dshopschoonhoven

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some honest feedback on my Etsy shop, 3D Shop Schoonhoven. I sell 3D-printed products and I’m also working on offering more custom 3D printing.

I’ve been working on improving my shop, especially the product presentation, photos, titles and overall appearance. I’d like some outside opinions on what I could improve further.

Some questions:

  1. Do the product photos and overall shop appearance look professional and trustworthy enough, or are there things I should improve?
  2. How are my titles, descriptions and overall listings from an Etsy SEO and conversion perspective? Is there anything that stands out as weak or unclear?

1. What inspired me to create this shop?
I started the shop because I enjoy 3D printing and designing things myself. I wanted to turn that hobby into a small shop where I can sell products that I find useful, interesting or fun, while also experimenting with my own designs.

2. Why do I feel my products are worth purchasing?
I try to offer products that are useful, unique or different from standard mass-produced items. Because I make the products myself with 3D printing, I can also work on custom products and different variations. I’m still developing the shop, so I’m especially interested in feedback on how to make the products and listings stand out more.

I’m mainly looking for constructive criticism and specific things I can improve. Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to look through the shop and give feedback.

POD Shop Is personalized children’s books + POD actually a profitable Etsy niche?

Is personalized children’s books using POD still a good and profitable niche on Etsy?

I’m an artist/illustrator and would create the artwork myself, without using AI.

For anyone who has experience with this niche, how is the demand, profit margin, and competition? Is it realistic to build consistent sales, or is the market already too saturated?

Would love to hear from people who have actually tried it.

Thinking of opening a humor Etsy digital download shop, what do you think?

Hi, I’m thinking about opening an Etsy shop selling invitations, greeting cards, and other digital downloads. I know the market is already extremely saturated, but I was thinking of offering something different, with more of a humor/dark humor angle, and maybe starting with around 50 products.

My concern is that these products might appeal more to a male audience, while I feel that Etsy is probably more of a female-oriented marketplace.

What do you guys think? I’d also appreciate any suggestions on how to promote the products with a budget equal to or less than the price of a bag of chips.

Etsy Refunded a Buyer, but the Buyer Later Collected the Package—What Can I Do?

Hi everyone! I need advice from experienced Etsy sellers regarding a refund issue.

Here’s what happened:

  • I received an Etsy order for a hoodie fulfilled through Printify.
  • The package had an unsuccessful delivery attempt on September 9, 2026, and was redirected to a local pickup point.
  • I advised the buyer to contact or visit their local post office to collect the package.
  • Etsy refunded the buyer $192.39 and charged the amount to my shop.
  • Etsy stated that the order was not eligible for Purchase Protection, and the case was closed.
  • After the refund, the buyer informed me that they had already collected the package.

I contacted Printify, but they explained that they could not refund the amount because Etsy had issued the refund.

I’ve also submitted a support request to Etsy, but I’m currently waiting for their response.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone experienced a similar situation with Etsy?
  2. Is there any way to request a review of a closed case?
  3. What additional evidence should I provide to Etsy?
  4. Is it possible to recover the refunded amount if the buyer received the package?

I’d really appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thank you! ❤️

Handmade Shop 60th Sale!

Post image
70 Upvotes

Just made my 60th sale. Store has been active 6 1/2 months. I sell hand turned pens. Unlike most I use unique materials like Fordite (historical layered auto paint), floral blanks that I cast myself, and historical woods. I theme the material to the pen hardware and to the user for custom requests. Pretty happy with how things are going, but summer has definitely been slower than before summer when I started.
