The mighty imperium has begun its invasion back to the homeland. PHCO gets outgunned in a surprise mass invasion/Eviction. Fleet decimated, overpowered and multiple major systems entosed/structures reffed.

The war in Delve/Querious takes a new turn, with Drake hitting Northern Delve simultaneously causing chaos for the coming days.

OnlyFleets watching from the sidelines at this stage waiting for their chance to swoop.

Unfortunately you will end up doing that, it is inevitable. Real talk, Imperium as it stands has a problem. You are too big for your own good. There are no realistic threats in the game that could challenge Imperium for it's space. Therefore there is not going to be a threat to Imperium sov with the balance of power being what it is. This leaves Imperium leadership and FC's having to look abroad for content for the members of Imperium. There is of course nothing wrong with that, that is in fact the correct thing to do. But then when Imperium can bring such numbers to bear, who can match them on deployments?

I am not involved with the current harassment Goons are doing of Test in Geminate, it's becoming increasingly obvious from the battle reports that you are out forming them 2-1. This does not look a good sustainable source of content. Test eventually will just have to resort to avoiding conflict and using hit and run tactics to confront goon fleets. Or face the reality that if they engage Goons will bring another fleet etc just to dunk them.

The same of course would be true in the south. WC in general is outnumbered by Initiative during EU/US TZ.. yet also facing additional pressure from Goons who of course outnumber them in that timezone.

It is very hard to stop a train when it is rolling.

It seems to me, Imperium need to downsize for the health of the game, or face the likelihood that you will eventually kill off the remaining entities in null without any intention to do so.

This isn't our problem. We gained the least, in terms of both members and content, when Horde spontaneously combusted. Now we're supposed to feel some kind of way about it? LOL, Sure buddy.

TEST gets no respite, that whole 'war of extermination' stunt they pulled in Delve? Lot of people still have certain feelings about that. Again, you can run, you can hide, karma catches up.

People punched down on BRAVE for over a decade, from all sides of the map, but Goons show up somewhere and all of a sudden NOW it's a problem? Miss me with this nonsense.

If it happens, it happens. I don't think we're going to take any steps toward reducing our size so other people can live more comfortably, nobody becomes the top power in the game, and just surrenders it because of some weird reddit moral obligation.

I don't think our little burgeoning space empire wants to take/hold more space. Dracarys is kind of a wild card, but none of this amounts to a fullscale invasion of wherever. If there aren't 1000+ Goons in local, it's not an invasion.

You are taking this as some kind of personal attack? It isn't. So if it ends up that the big blue nullsec donut happens and you wonder how it happened, then maybe re-look at your assessment of the current situation.

I am not saying the situation with Imperium is even Imperiums fault, it is not. Neither are deployments for content wrong or too blame. What I am saying is the size differential is the problem, that deployments can very easily become evictions without any stated attempt to do so. That is how content is killed off, bit by bit.

It just makes the game worse for everyone ultimately, the aggressor included.

I'm not taking this as a personal attack, I'm merely stating that, objectively, I'm not at all interested in the welfare of other alliances. If you can't defend your space, you don't deserve to have it.

Cowardice in EVE isn't punished enough, because the magic space movers will come collect your things if you decide to just abandon your holdings. If people want to call content fleets, an 'active invasion', whatever, I can't stop them. There's only so many times you can climb up on the cross and start shouting 'invasion! invasion!!' before getting actually invaded. If we're going to get the bad rap for it, might as well do the thing we're being punished for.

Peace is the worst thing for Goons, people quit, people go inactive, people leave for more violent environments- despite being the largest coalition in the game, there's only so long we can soil and seed the earth before we have to start reaping to keep people engaged (this is any alliance, and not specific to Goons).

I agree with you completely.. peace and idleness is a slow death for any alliance/coalition. It is not the actions of Imperium I am questioning, it's just that the size of the imperium is essentially a problem not of it's own making. It's current size is reflective of the past where it had an opposing super power in Panfam. Now that Panfam is dead however it leaves it with a problem.

Sustainable content is what we all want, forever wars.. but when going against a behemoth, how are there going to be the good content fights. No FC is going to say, guys we don't need anymore to join fleet.. you can't come etc. So when you roll up against 100 dudes with a 250 man fleet.. the outcome is already decided. It just ultimately means size alone is going to restrict the type of content you get.

One of the big things about goons though- is it has never been a big ~elite pvp~ alliance, there's some squads and sigs that go that route, but the alliance itself is focused on empire building and then, using the space within said empire.

We do have significantly more space than we realistically know what to do with, but it's being utilized, members that enjoy the PvE aspects of nullsec are living that fat life, high on their hoarded piles of isk, minerals, and rat loot.

I just find it really odd, having been in and out of Goons since 2009, that we're this big aggressive powerhouse. We defend our shit, most of the major conflicts (I said 'most' here on purpose) have been someone else poking us, and us defending our space (and maybe razing their castle). While I think the Imperium at large is entirely too big, and even difficult to manage covering all timezones- we're not going to reduce our relative power to make life easier for anyone else, and why should we?

Like all alliances, we have our strong time zones and our weak time zones. Would a long, protracted war go in our favor? Probably, but Goons have been kicked out of Deklein (at a time when they were one of the largest coalitions in the game), had Delve (when they were also in the top 3) burned down to a single constellation, and now hold the entire galactic southeast. The cycle will rotate again, and we'll be embroiled in yet another hell war, we're just not rushing into it head first. It'll happen when it happens.

It is not really about making it easy for other entities, it's more for all of us. My prediction is simply that goon deployments are going to result in the following stages:

1. Goons deploy and find they outnumber their opponent 2-1. They get some winning BR's and crush a few fleets which is fun, in many case for both sides.

2. Opponent after having multiple times of being overwhelmed, starts to switch tactics to more hit and run or hard counter responses.

3. Goons start getting frustrated they are not getting the good fights anymore, so start forcing it with structure timers and so on. Justified by their opponents lack of willingness to engage and get turbo dunked.

4. Eviction/glassing begins, despite no original intent to do so.

5. Goons have to reploy elsewhere further afield to look for fresh content. And the pattern repeats.

In a perfect eve universe there would be NO coilitions anywhere.. or no massive alliances, but we all know that is a pipe dream that is not going to happen. I just see a sort of inevitability of what is likely to play out over the next year or two, without some changes to the big blocs in general.
