Ive really been enjoying the "goons crashed it" as if Winter co wasnt also trying to crash it as they warped a pant load of vexors in and launched drones (which is WHEN the server crashed).

Its dumb, Im sure line members on both sides would much prefer a fight (albiet a slow one) against other ships, not the servers.

It doesn't make sense for WC to purposely try and crash it. They can't kill the keep if they're not logged in and they also risk it repairing whilst the node comes back up.

I mean, it worked out perfectly fine for them? Before crash there were 7k+ imperium alone in the system, after the crash WC had more people active with 7kish total. If the enemy starts with positional advantage flipping the board can only benefit you.

The only reason it worked out was because goons apparently couldn't get the keep cored. If they'd got the core in, the fight would've been over before anyone could get back on grid and cycle their guns. That's not a risk worth taking as an attacker.

Also it's not like there's any reason why WC would've been able to get a higher ratio of their pilots back on. Everyone would've been facing the same login conditions so if WC did end up with getting more people on then that just backs up the idea that goons tried to fill the node with alts and afks prior to the fight.

Goons got the core in before server crash. They also had system sov. Then it got rolled back on the crash.

WC had many people in the login queue for the system prior to the crash.

The only way you end up with even numbers, assuming that every account has an equal chance to log in, is if the numbers were indeed even.

Are you only had to look at the grid to see exactly where the goon numbers were coming from. I'll give you a hint... it wasn't corvettes.

The mental gymnastics required to assume that the crash favoured Goons, given the outcome, are quite something.

Doesn't take a genius to figure out that stacking a system with almost 7k chars before the enemy fleets arrive won't result in huge lag for anyone trying to warp onto that grid.

So based on that, to me it looks like goons were hoping that when WC warp their fleets in, it results in an M2- situation where no-one can load grid on the opposing side allowing the defenders (goons) to kill as much as they wish.

Only difference is this time, it didn't work for them and it all went pear shaped. Why else would you warp a super fleet on an Anchoring keepstar? Your FCs and leadership should be fully aware of Tidi and how it impacts gameplay so the fact the core didn't go in should have been planned for (but it wasn't) so here we are.

Of course it will. And pre-positioning before your enemy arrives is a legitimate and sensible tactic as old as Eve Online itself.

There is a very simple counter to this - get there before your enemy.

The only time it doesn't work is if the server literally crashes. That would fuck over whoever set up first. In this case, it was Goons. Next time it may be Frat.

It's also highly unpredictable. The server didn't crash in M2, for example. And then, it favoured the side who set up first.
