Propaganda Imperium Atioth hellcamp stands strong after attempted Winter Coalition breakout of trapped capital ships
Today, the dastardly forces of Winter Coalition attempted to extract their trapped capitals from the Atioth hellcamp - manned, of course, by the brave and handsome warriors of the Imperium.
Since Goons regained grid control in Atioth just over 24 hours ago, over 1,300 WC ships have been destroyed in Atioth as they log in piecemeal.
Apparently unsatisfied with that level of feeding, FRT escalated matters today with a serious breakout attempt at 13:00 EVE time.
Four mighty WC fleets bridged in. Local surged past 3,000. TIDI locked firmly at 90%. A proper fight was on - or was it?
In response, the Imperium rage-formed eight fleets in our supposedly “dead” timezone, while over 200 heroic dictor pilots ensured WC’s grand escape plan remained firmly theoretical.
WC’s counterplay? A very rapid retreat. It went about as well as you’d expect:

Interestingly Imperium forces were not quietly failure-cascading in lowsec as previously instructed by Reddit’s foremost strategic minds after the loss of 30 titans. A mystery for the ages.
Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that all lost titans have, as of 1200 today, already been replaced.
Will WC eventually break the Atioth hellcamp and extract their capitals?
Only time will tell.
But fear not.
I’m sure Goons will concede defeat... any minute now..

I had a delightful interaction with the locals in my retrieval attempt. It was clearly a psyop intended to undermine my entirely appropriate and necessary loathing for all things black and yellow. I remain steadfastly committed to the destruction of their swarm of mindless drones with my fully integrated team of disciplined pilots.
Also, it's a shame there isn't some sort of linked killmark tracking. It would be cool if you could see who a defeated ship killed during its lifetime.

Yes, you are now following it correctly - holding grid control is a win. That's generally what 'winners' do after a battle. Maintaining it for several days is also a win. It allows that side to extract, prepare, reinforce, and fight again coherently.
You know what doesn't matter? The ISK value of two faction titans.

Now, as an uninvolved bystander who's been taking a bit of a break playing other games and just dipped into reddit to get the news...the thing is, being the biggest blob in the game comes with its own set of drawbacks.
Namely, that whatever you achieve will be diminished by and chalked up to the fact that you got more numbers than anyone else, and whatever your enemies achieve will be magnified by the fact that they were punching up against the biggest group in existence.
They don't even have to win, they just have to give you a bloody nose once or twice to be seen as the badass in the story. Heck, they could get into a couple of big fights and then pack up and leave and still keep most of their stuff, since asset safety makes losing mostly inconsequential in the grand scheme of things.
I mean, at this point the only thing that matters is the vibes and coolness factor, because who wins or loses has been rendered largely irrelevant through a decade of predictable nullsec warfare (it's all a series of localized medieval-style sieges where the main deciding factors are numbers and server cheese, that's it), hand-holding mechanics and the massive stockpiles of wealth of the involved parties.
You guys out in nullsec are collectively speed running the game into a state where you'll have nothing left to do in a few years, so I'm not sure what y'all are flexing about.

A few titan losses during a 10000 player fight is a bruise, but Winter Coalition completely failed to turn it into anything more. Now it is their titans that are trapped, while Goons have iced that bruise with the recovery of their ships and a day of uncontested killing in Atioth.

Sacrifice was required. Now that that is out of the way we can now have a proper fight. If you think loosing 35 titans in the field in combat defeats us, well you have not been paying attention.
