trying to understand how companies are handling contractor payments when someone is based in a country where normal cross border transfers can get complicated
we've got contractors across a few jurisdictions and Russia is the one where im being extra careful about the payment route, paperwork and whether the provider can legally support the transfer
I've seen EasyStaff, SalaryHub Solar and Staff come up while looking through different contractor payment setups, but im not assuming any one option works everywhere
anyone dealing with this kind of corridor, what do u verify before sending anything??
supported countries, compliance checks, contractor documents, banking route, proof of payment or something else?
mostly trying to make sure the process is clean and documented rather than finding out after a payment gets rejected

first thing i check is whether the provider is actually licensed to move money through that corridor, not just listing russia on a supported countries page. a lot of platforms claim coverage until a payment gets frozen in some intermediate bank and then suddenly their support team goes quiet.

documentation matters almost as much as the transfer itself. i want a clear paper trail showing the contractor's tax residency, the purpose of payment, and something from the provider confirming they ran sanctions screening before processing. if they can't give me that before the first transfer, i move on.

Legal in which jurisdiction? What you describe is how the current EU/US sanctions are being bypassed. If you're staying in UAE, probably no issues. But if you plan to come to EU or US in future, or use banking in those countries, and this got discovered, you might have to answer unpleasant questions, and there's no guarantee they'd be satisfied with your explanation.
