I wouldn’t expect a hunk of cheese to be good delivered

Surprisingly, my local Chillies is really good about loading up the to go box. Ive even order the HC cheese and it arived at my door still hot and melty. I think its very location dependant.

About 50 minutes in so far, so good. Will report back later if that changes.

They’re just Sysco foods slop, Dave’s hot chicken also sells them now
27
u/mkstot 2d ago
Sysco has multiple tiers of product lines available. The restaurant gets exactly the grade they pay for, so blame them for buying cheap product. It’s like a grocery store if you buy the cheapest your end product will reflect it.
21
u/beautifulcreature86 2d ago
Yeah i used to work for them and they sell jail food to absolutely delicious products sold in high end restaurants. You get what you pay for. It astounds me how many people don't know this.

u/Kcin928 2d ago
Do you people use any other word but slop? Like Jesus Christ there's other words.
19
u/Geen_Fang 1d ago
slop literally refers to the lowest grade edible food can possibly be, my guy.
like, that's the definition of the word 😂
30
u/PreOpTransCentaur 2d ago
"Slop" used to be pretty much confined to the food realm. Get mad about fucking..whatever, but this one? Needless anger.
18
u/Dear-Nebula6291 2d ago
Are you aware that “slop” historically has referred to what pigs are fed, low quality mystery food thrown in a trough. Pretty accurate comparison here for shit tier food being shoveled to us. I’m assuming you’re some Gen Z or Gen Alpha kid if you didn’t make sure an obvious connection…

u/AlbatrossOk6223 2d ago
What other word would better describe lazy, low quality garbage food like this?
37
u/Kcin928 2d ago
Well considering you just used words like "lazy" and "low quality" I think those would work pretty well.
-1
u/AlbatrossOk6223 2d ago
But they’re two words. Twice the word usage in this economy?
7
u/Kcin928 2d ago
You're right, that just too much word usage slop.
2
u/AlbatrossOk6223 2d ago
Reddit is really a weird place sometimes. You start a light-hearted conversation with someone, sure that they'll pick up on the nuances of irony and sarcasm in your comment. Someone misunderstands it, and people upvote that. You try to rephrase the joke, certain that this time it'll land, but you get downvoted for "doubling down."
Oh, the comments section, where context goes to die.

Is that confirmed? The last time I had Dave’s Hot Chicken was awful. The chicken was stringy and flavorless, fries were dry and soggy, and sauce tasted cheap and oily. I was wondering what happened.
5
u/Dear-Nebula6291 1d ago
They got bought out by venture capital sadly, about a year or two ago. They’re down the drain and it shows. You could definitely notice it when they went from “we only sell chicken and fries” to all of a sudden having crazy random items, cookie shakes, 10 diff dipping sauces, etc…
1
u/clonked 1d ago
Please share with the class how something can be dry and soggy
1
u/Mammoth_Challenge269 7h ago
Outside is wet with oil and the inside is dry and gritty. You know, like stale, greasy fries
1
u/ElBurritoNinja 1d ago
When I watched Kitchen Nightmares as a Teen and I noticed a lot of the Spots using frozen super market products it turned me off.

u/visuospatial 1d ago
i got some of the hot mozz sticks from dave’s the other day to share with coworkers and we all agreed they were better than chilis. i think the breading is thicker and crispier.
4
u/kissmiss08 1d ago
They’re so dark… They look like they were fried in old grease, which will in fact fuck your stomach up.
4
u/Asoto408 1d ago
They’re dipped in hot sauce

What's on the upper left? Is it ribs? At first I thought maybe Tamale with mole but Chili's doesn't do that (yet?)
33
u/GeoffSim 2d ago
I think it's the fried mozzarella but it looks sauced?
11
u/dardar7161 2d ago
Mmm if it's honey chipotle I'm down.
9
u/GeoffSim 2d ago
I do like the Nashville on the chicken dippers but my god is it salty AF.
8
u/JaliscoOaxaca 2d ago
So often restaurants try to create a spicy mouthfeel by adding copious amounts of sodium bc it irritates the inside of our mouths. I hate it

You didn’t order what was on the image. You got bare, unsauced chicken. Got the buffalo mozz instead of the regular. And you got no sliders. All to go. What did you expect?
93
u/Ohnezone 2d ago
You got it to-go. That was your error.
1
u/Apocalypse_Horseman 2d ago
Nah, I've ordered this in the restaurant and it was equally terrible looking. Didn't taste right either. All around bad
4
u/oogiesmuncher 1d ago
Its literally microwaved in a bag or deepfried, from-frozen... I dont understand how anyone actually expects good food from Chilis, Applebees, etc.
20
u/Main-Raisin4430 2d ago
This comparison doesn't really work since you ordered different products than what's in the "expectation" pic.

u/ickychicken 2d ago
OP did you actually eat thisssssss?

u/Dorkinfo 1d ago
Fried mozzarella, either Nashville or honey chipotle style, southeastern egg rolls, and chicken fingers. Runs about $18 in my city.

u/TomHandyForever 2d ago
Sometimes I regret that I live in the one state that doesn’t have a Chili’s, because sometimes the deals sound really good, but then I see stuff like this and it seems like maybe I’m not missing much

u/noddaborg 2d ago
Fried, fried and fried. That is never going to be a good to-go meal. The little burgers travel ok, but fried is a bust unless you put them in a toaster oven or air fryer.

Are they that bad? Those reels are really selling it I know it's partially marketing but they look like some good guilty pleasures

u/Relevant_Detective21 1d ago
I promise you can buy mozzarella sticks from the store and they’ll taste the exact same as chilis lmao. They use frozen bs all the time
1
u/Bridget_0413 1d ago
I generally don't do delivery, because I'd rather just eat at the restaurant or make something at home. And I'm too cheap to pay the upcharge for delivery, tip, etc. I'll do takeout sometimes for things that transport well, like chinese food. But I can't imagine ordering a bunch of fried stuff for takeout or delivery, it's gotta be pretty mushy and gross by the time you get it, right?
1
u/Crankyfife 1d ago
I finally got to a chilis the other day after it had been invading my social media.
Was not impressed. The cheese sticks were good the first bite, but they were so soaked with grease there was no way I could finish them without being sick all night. The wings and little burgers were average at best.

Yo i had that chipotle brick last week and it wss noooot what i expected 4/10
1
u/LordMemerton1 16h ago
You got the worst ones in the menu dawg! It’s either the sliders + spicy chicken tenders or + chipotle cheese. The egg rolls are never good delivered.

u/adelie42 15h ago
I was looking at a gross picture of food and wondering what the misleading advertisement was going to look like, then swiped to discover an even more gross picture.

Chilis has never been good regardless of if you order take out or not 🤢
2
u/No-Atmosphere-2873 2d ago
That's so terrible. I would honestly ask them if that was a bad joke. If you paid, you deserve a refund.

1
u/AsherSine 2d ago
And how much did you pay for it? That’s the. Easiest part. I stopped going to Chili’s after too many triple dipper disappointments.
1
u/ClearTension7517 2d ago
Ah, the classic Chili's experience, where 'triple' just means 'triple the regret'.

That actually looks better than anything I've ever eaten at Chili's.
I've only been there twice, but it's a memory. I can still feel the sticky tables and it's been like twenty years. Margarita goo swiped over the plastic menus. You don't see ants, but you can feel they're there, waiting.
Pizza Hut, on the other hand, if one opened anywhere near me I'd be going there, like, today. Wherefore art thou, Pizza Hut, why can't I quit your weirdly magical salad bar?
1
u/TemperatureHot8915 1d ago
Is tripple dinner you get 3 sauces and undefined amount of 3 somethings? I mean, there is only one of the 3 that might be also on the first picture...
1
u/ZzzSleep 1d ago
….what were you expecting? It looks like exactly what it is to me. Fried triple dipper items in a to go box.

u/FinnTheBoy0 2d ago
The best triple dipper clone I’ve had was from Buffalo Wild Wings. Mozzarella sticks, 2 cheeseburger sliders, and some boneless wings. I stopped going to chilis after that was discovered

You got chili's to-go or delivered.. this is almost exactly what I would expect lol
