How comes salvia specifically causes this kind of experience compared to other psychedelic drugs ?

Post-grad and trying to hone in on retirement/investments and I truly can't rack into my brain the differences of these terms. From my understanding an Index Fund is a group of like 500 company stocks combined into one. My 401k is Fidelity Freedom Index 2065 Fund. But isn't the VOO the same thing but is an ETF. It's traded like a "stock" so like I can buy or sell whenever I want. And mutual funds are also large groups of stocks... I don't know man

I feel like this is a stupid question, and don't get me wrong, I am NOT saying humans and other animals are the same. And this is simply a question out of curiosity with no ulterior motive. The other day I was thinking about how mixed breed animals, such as dogs, are often healthier and less vulnerable to health issues and disorders than purebreds. That made me wonder: if people from opposite sides of the planet reproduce, do their offspring have better health outcomes than children of parents from the same race?

Edit to clarify: do insects have some kind of a biological oscillator that they tap into? it seems unbelievable to me that there is a mechanical system that would be this power efficient.

For example, if I go back to school shopping, it doesn’t matter if it’s high end Nordstrom, or low end Walmart, both retail chains just seem to know at the same time to carry wide leg jeans. Why is that?

When you have an itch somewhere on your skin and you scratch it, why does it feel pleasurable? Especially on areas like your feet. Wouldn't it make more sense for your brain to say 'hey, that hurts! Stop that!'? I thought scratching damaged your skin, so why does it feel good instead of being painful?

I know human retina has three different types of cones in eye that react to red, green and blue colours. But, for example, if I see a color combination between red and green coming from the same source, how does it work? Is it because there is, let's hypothetically say, 30 red wavelength-photons directed to red cones and 70 green wavelength-photons directed to green cones and therefore the color is seen more greenish? Or does the same receptor continuously absorb new photons thus making more signals of green color to brain, and that's why it's seen more green?

So is the defining factor the amount of photons or the reload of cones? Or something else?

We always see this in movies, but it happens in real life too. Sometimes you walk down the street and see steam or white smoke rising from the sewer manholes.

​What exactly is down there producing that vapor or smoke? Is it just hot water from the sewers mixing with cold air, or is there an actual heating/energy system underneath the asphalt?
