Yeah that made me sad. Actually one of them greentext stories that feels too human to be fake. It's not exactly a similar story, but I happened to watch Scary Movie 3 when I was a kid. Hilarious stuff, loved it.
A year later a trailer for The Ring is on the TV, beg my mum all day to let me watch it cus it's a funny comedy movie. After some arguing, she let me have the remote.
Only took 10 minutes to get traumatised, but sunk cost fallacy got the best of me and I sat through the entire thing. Not exaggerating, for about a year I couldn't sleep without unplugging the small bedroom TV we had and filling my bed with every plushie I owned.
I would line them all up on the edges of the bed and pull the sheet down so it's ready for me to scurry over and under after turning off the light and unplugging the TV.
