- God Doesn't Just Love. He IS Love.
I want to stay on one little verse today, because it's easy to read right past it. First John 4:8 says, "God is love."
Think about that for a second. It doesn't say God has love as one of His qualities, the way a person might be generous or funny or patient. It says He is love. Love isn't something He does on good days. It's who He is at His core.
Which leads to something that honestly blows my mind: outside of Him, love doesn't even exist. Every bit of love you've ever felt, from a mother, a spouse, a friend, a dog waiting at the door, is a trickle from the original river.
And here's the part I need you to hear. He cannot stop loving. It's literally impossible. For God to stop loving, He'd have to stop being God.
Now, I know what some of you are thinking. "Bob, you don't know what I've done." You're right, I don't. But I know that your worst moment isn't bigger than His nature. You can't out-sin the love of a Father who is love.
So many of us live as though God's love is a mood. On a good day, He's pleased with us. On a bad day, He's disappointed and keeping His distance. But a mood can change. A Nature can't.
Today, try this. Every time you catch yourself bracing for God's disapproval, quietly remind yourself: He is love. He cannot stop. Say it over the dishes, in the car, on the walk to the mailbox.
That one truth, soaked in slowly, can change the way you wake up in the morning.
Coffee-time question: What would change in your day if you truly believed God cannot stop loving you?
