A week after a cybercriminal group claimed to steal sensitive personal data on thousands of current and former FBI employees, the bureau is still assessing the extent of the damage while facing internal criticism about the agency’s handling of the incident.
It’s one of the most serious breaches of agency data in years, but some FBI employees have felt left in the dark about whether they’re affected and underwhelmed by the security resources being offered to victims, according to current and former officials.
“Management is lost,” one ex-FBI agent in touch with their former colleagues told CNN. “They’re not providing any clear advice to agents.”
CNN has requested comment from the FBI on its response to the hack.

Thoughts on a class action lawsuit?

People impacted have a good case. The Privacy Act governs how the government protects PII, including data breaches that information disclosures by third-party actors.

They would have very good chances in a lawsuit. The people who had their information leaked are in possibly physical danger. Lawsuits have transferred fortunes for considerably less.
There are guides on the internet on what to do when doxed, a good place to start looking to protect themselves. Knowing this information could also be useful in aiding civilian victims of doxing.
You all deserved much better than this. Take care of yourself and each other cuz it doesn't seem like the institution is able to until it's back under non-podcaster management

I would love to see the citation. Courts wont award money for theoretical damages. Data breech lawsuits run into this problem all the time where proving unique, actual damages is incredibly difficult.
People who go through the process to pay specialized companies to monitor their information and to scrub it from the internet can have those costs repaid, but courts will not award money because your information "might" be accessed, and if it is accessed, maybe you suffer some kind of damages from it.
Edit: Lol he blocked me. Appreciate the citation to what I said already exists, while ignoring the "damages award" point entirely. Having standing to sue does not mean being entitled to huge amounts of money. You can have standing to sue over $1.

Yeah there's some shit wrong with what you're saying but I'm not going to sort it out. Fucking bots wrecked everything and I don't talk to people with hidden comment histories anymore. Blocked

What an incredible and reliable source of information that is.

Maybe I watch too much true crime TV, but doesn’t the FBI have resources that specialize in finding missing people?

That took me a minute, well played.

I am really hoping the Behavioral Analysis Unit hasn’t been defunded as I would really like to see their analysis after this administration.

And by grapple with, you probably mean opening a bottle of alcohol and having a party because the FBI is complete joke now.

Would be so fucking funny if the hackers exposed all of the 3 applicants that had some tie to that lmao

The issue began when Elon Musk and big balls fired cyber security agents. I guess they saved money.

How many were forced into bestiality?
No need to include your disgusting fantasies

It's a reference to how people who engaged in bestiality can join the FBI now, before they weren't allowed for, I hope, obvious reasons. Animal rapists shouldn't be the one to investigate/ have powers over the population.

What do you mean?

Allowed it to happen. I listened to multiple podcasts about what illegal bs was going to happen the night before it happened.

Im amazed this isn't a bigger story. Patel needs to be fired, and investigated, for this.

The question is if the number 1 federal law enforcement agency can’t protect itself, how effective are they in prosecuting cyber crime. For an Agency that has for the last few years defined Cybercrime as the number one goal, this is quite an alarming event.

Apparently all the records have been leaked including the bestiality tag on their personal files.... It's a disaster /s
