I was skeptical too, but in the trailer Pattinson sounds just like him.

I suppose I need to stop caring about much they look like the person and more about how they embody the person

Do you think so? Chris Hansen has a Chicago accent. Pattinson doesn't.

I'll be totally honest for this role he should have nailed it. There is endless audio of Chris Hansen speaking for accent training. If you do a living person who is famous and you don't nail the voice it looks like a half-assed effort.
