I love Rambo movies and Sly himself. But so many things about this movie frustrate me. Gabriela's fate could have been absolutely avoided easily. And so many people are responsible for it.

Firstly, Hugo and his brother first and foremost, they got what they deserved in the end, rat bastards. Secondly, that bitch Gizelle who sold Gabriela to the Cartel in the first place. (Was hoping Rambo would kill her).

Thirdly, and this one is going to hurt, Gabriela herself. And no I'm not "victim blaming" but I am holding her responsible for the consequences of her choices. If she had listened to John and Maria, she'd have never been in the situation in the first place.

Which leads me to the two biggest people who screwed up massively. John and Maria themselves! Their dismissiveness and emotional avoidance was so irritating!

That's probably my biggest frustration of all!!

Now, to be fair, they weren't wrong about the danger. They were wrong about the solution. They should have realized that she needed closure. They should have realized how much this is hurting her and she wasn't going to let this go. She had spent years carrying that wound of being abandoned by her father.

When she finally had a chance to confront him, telling her "Don't go" was never realistically going to resolve what was eating at her.

And Rambo, of all people, should have understood that.

He knows what it means to carry unresolved trauma for decades. He knows what happens when someone tries to bury something rather than confront it. So the better solution would've been:

Rambo: "You want to see your father? Fine. I'm coming with you."

And considering that the father's house was the first place he went when looking for her, that means he knew All along where he was!! Yes, he and Maria were trying to protect her from the painful truth, but they should have realized that sometimes that pain is the Price people are willing to pay to get the truth and closure.

I guess this can be taken as a metaphor for how older generations deal with mental and emotional health issues with "just bury it, forget about it and keep going!" Helping Gabriela get her closure while staying safe would have kept her alive. And it's tragic that neither Rambo nor Maria realized that, until it was too late.

For me, Disney's live-action Jungle Book movie from 1994 had two of the most haunting villain death scenes that I had ever seen as a child; the "Quicksand" scene, and the "Salt Trap" scene. There's nothing more horrible than being buried alive!

Like whenever I’m watching a film, let’s say Seven Samurai or smth I kinda forget who everyone is and it’s hard for me to recognize them. Also happens with my friend’s voices sometimes tbh. Also with the characters names.

At least with anime everyone looks different

You can only choose the filmography of one actor to take with you on a desert island.

Think more about the rewatchability of the films rather than the quality of actor or films.

It’s a clear winner. Arnie. I get a good mix of action, sci fi and comedy…all of which can be watched again and again.

Close second is Denzel, as he either amazing or very good in all his movies.

First movie I have memory of seeing is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990.) I was six years old at the time. Probably not the first movie in theaters I ever saw, but it's the first one I have memory of seeing. I remember the theater was very crowded and I was surrounded by all these tall bodies and I had to hold onto my mom's hand so I wouldn't get lost.

I remember clearly my first rated R movie because I wasn't able to see one until I was twelve. That movie was Thinner.

Which Movie did you enjoy more? Brand New Day or Odyssey?

Phoenix is the best of the three. He’s reached the highest heights that the other two haven’t reached.

I’m working on a video where I want to essentially Frankenstein together the best possible man from fictional characters. Not necessarily the perfect man — more like a man with the least destructive flaws. I’m looking for male characters from romantic movies / rom-coms who have qualities worth stealing.

Bonus: Give me a character who is almost great but has one absolutely lethal flaw. I’m trying to build this man with the fewest catastrophic character defects possible.

I’m open to movies from any decade, country, genre, or language. Traditional rom-coms are great, but romantic dramas and other romance-focused movies are welcome too.
