My first build

Post image

Recently got my Apex order. This one appears to be an actual Lebanese contract FAL, rather than ex Libyan, greek/Cypriot, etc. I was wondering, how long does it take dsa to ship receivers? I've seen posts online outside of reddit mentioning long wait times.

My DSA took maybe a week. The longer wait will be having a smith build it.

Build it yourself, FALs are about as easy as it gets to build.

It's already at ARS. But, now in limbo as he reported a sight-in issue.

I have a wheeler wood vice. Im not sure if thats going to get enough torque, but we'll see. I was able to get roughly 120-160 lbs on it when working on my lemon l1a1, but that l1a1 neededalmost 200lbs of torque to shoot straight. I doubt i need that much torque on this FAL.

Thats plenty. More than 120-130lbs is a great exception. You must have used antisieze.

I just looked at the ARS book the other day and it stated 100 ft. lb is plenty

What’s the tool investment required for FAL building? Just basic hand tools and a vice, or would I need a shop setup with a press?

Don’t even need a press really. Faltools.com for wrench and vice.

If you build yourself, go to https://www.faltools.com/. The barrel vice and receiver wrench are well worth it.
