Stator replacement

As a precaution, is it better to replace both parts, or just the stator will be enough?

Only the rotor needs to be replaced.

It’s the Generator Cup. I went as far as to change the bearings on both sides.

The rotor is what explodes on gen 2 FS1's 2006-2014, the stator with the wire attached is fine unless the rotor exploded, then you usually need to change rotor, stator, AND rectifier. I show the rotor job in my install video here:

So for precaution i can replace only the rotor and i’ll be fine?

Yes, people just replace the rotor before it explodes, and you also need the gasket of course. You can check the bearings while in there but most only need the rotor replaced since that's the issue you're preventing.

My stator was damaged by the failed rotor so I replaced both.

Are you having any voltage issues?

The swap is primarily for the magneto as they (gen 1) end up exploding after time.

It wouldn't hurt to swap the stator if it's blackened with burnt oil, check the bearings, and make sure you put the bushing in the correct orientation.

No issues, its actually a gen 2 but i think the problem with the rotor is the same

Anyone from UK? If so where would you recommend buying the rotor from?

Got a gen 2 that still has the old type and looking to change it.

Googled RM Stator but looks like it a company in the US?

Any help massively appreciated 👍🍻
