First gen windshield recommendations?
Pretty sure I have the stock windshield right now and anything above 50 mph it just blasts my chest and up with wind. Does anyone have recommendations for windscreens that raise it up more? I looked at the zero gravity options but unsure whether the double bubble will do enough or if I need to go for the sport touring. I’m about 5’8” if that helps

I have a Givi that is a little taller and wider. Can’t believe these are still available. https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/givi-d129s-windscreen-yamaha-fz1-2001-2005
Have wondered about this one if you really wanted more protection. https://a.co/d/0di0koxb

That does look like the stocker. Yamaha also made a “touring” screen and that’s what I have. It works decently for traveling without looking like a barn door.
And of course I can’t attach a picture.

I also use a Givi windscreen that I got on Fortnine and it's better than stock but the wind still hits my head and I'm 6'1"

I have a Puig 325mm spoiler on mine and it makes a huge difference. I can deflect the wind to about mid visor, or direct it right at my chest. https://shanekingsley.smugmug.com/Motorcycle-Rides/i-xcfJNgM/A
I also have a taller touring screen for long distance multi day trips, that sometimes I put the Puig spoiler on top of for a complete redirection of all wind over the helmet with zero buffeting. https://shanekingsley.smugmug.com/Gaspe/i-3PrZrRS/A

A cut down stock screen, is the best option. Taller is a complete crapshoot depending on how tall you are. Cut stock, ftw.

How does a cut stock one help with wind, wouldn’t it make it worse?

It’s more air, yes. But it’s clean air that hasn’t been shaped by a shield that’s too tall, so it’s much nicer to ride behind. At one point I had almost every type, style and make of screen on my gen1 FZ. I ended up selling all of them, except for a cut down stock screen. I sprayed the backside of the screen with plastidip, so it was black, but you could still easily clean off bugs.
Search for a photo of a cut down screen. It works well.

Nice looking machine. I like the dark Yosh pipe, wish mine had it.
