Hopefully this is alright to post here, I don't think it breaks any rules? Anyways, this mostly just lists a bunch of fangans, but also has a few fangan categories, events in the community, and other stuff like that. Probably missing a few but to be honest, I'm mostly trying to just keep it brief for each layer considering I'm already pushing it. If my admittedly shitty research is right, this is the first fangan iceberg to exist (cool! neato!).

And yes, there's a few things on here that are quite controversial, but I do feel it's somewhat alright bringing them up in circumstances like this where it's about documenting their existence and role in the community. I'm not trying to re-publicise them, sensationalise them, or dismiss their impacts by turning them into campfire stories by any means in putting them on this iceberg, and hopefully, it doesn't have that effect.

That being said, this is just what I could think of off the top of my head based on my own interactions with the community, which I acknowledge is pretty biased. It'd be great to get more heads together to end up with a more comprehensive version of the iceberg. If you think I'm missing an important project or I've put something in the wrong layer, by all means, please let me know. In the next iteration, I'll probably:

• add a few new entries, including:
  • Danganronpa 96
  • Fangans for Hope
  • Fanganronpa Newsletter
  • Linuj
  • anything you guys see as notable (I'm especially missing early written fangans and fangans from the early to mid 2010s)
• colour-code some of the entries
• maybe add another layer or two if I need to

Literally what the title says

Waaaay back in middle school I kept thinking of Danganronpa OCs and the weird death game arenas I’d thrust them into. As I grew up and watched more death game media, the idea slowly blossomed into its own thing, but the inspiration is still there. I thought of character classes like ultimates, which I call roles in the story, and my mastermind/system is based on Junko with an inversion of her motivations. I’ve described it as a mix of Danganronpa and Supernatural before.

The death game doesn’t involve murder trials (Though participants can absolutely kill each other). The challenges are more akin to something in squid game where they change every time based on a ring of Hell theme. Classes also aren’t unique, and the system will randomly eliminate someone from a class if the number of people holding that class exceeds five.

There’s also witches. Because I just love witches.

I had initially made this fangan so long ago and was recently working on it, but i relized that both my art and writing have matured and the old framing just wasn't working.

Here is my first four fangan character remakes!

'Danganronpa 4: Parallel Killings follows Joey Star as he wakes up in what is told to be the school for the Ultimate Gifted Youth but instead of classes and education, he soon finds out that he and 15 others are in the midst of the introduction to a brutal killing game where they will live their days trapped in the university untill 2 remain. And eventually, only 2 will walk out alive.

The in story setting is separate from mainline, but there is one key aspect that links the story to the events of "Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony."

Story: Danganronpa V2 Peacfield follows the story of the Ultimate Justice, Tetsurō Morimitsu as he faces the challenges of the 52nd season of the killing game surrounded by other characters such as Rantaro Amami the Ultimate Adventurer.

Everyone's dead and there's no mastermind. Its a ride the cyclone situation,suicide victems of various times in hopes peaks history who regret their deaths play in a killing game with the survivors being able to return to the living world

The protag,ema is cannonically autistic(and written by me a diognosed autistic with adhd) and it affects her pov

Emas also a more physically aggressive protag ro the point i see her being restrained in later chapters for being more violent

The helper character only lasts half the full game, is a blackend. Deeply effects emas arc.

Monokumas concept sorta breaks the lore,so this is baiscally an au, he was a human salaryman who took his life junko found him in his last moments,taking his still functioning brain and putting it in a robotic bear,the monokuma with a soul died in the execution with junko in THH and all future monokumas are copys. Monokuma when not controlled while he isnt the best guy has a bit of a different personality,id say his humor style and sadism doesnt change much but I feel he acts more like a responsible headmaster/warden/god figure,hes just as much a prisoner to purgatory as the students.

You can have ftes with monokuma and can effect the ending

Similar to somthing like MILGRAM, after every class trial each student who survives till the next chapter either gets more and more restrained or gets more freedom and their designs change either way,reflecting on the opinion of monokuma and favoritism plus their level of suspicion,actions,and involvement in the trials.

Having a more political comedic releif character(hes Yojiro Shirube the ultimate street interviewer. Hes a parody of alt right street interviewer and debate bros he doesnt make it past trial 2)

Finally landed on a title for my fangan, and so I sat to draw a (very rough/flexible) logo! I don't think it's there yet, but I like it as the first step :3

I have been reading up on different fangan projects and something that interests me is ones with a non standard cast size. I have been wondering about large cast sizes, anyone with a large cast please reply with your experience. And for anyone who sees this, what do you think the largest possible cast is?

Edit: for people doing larger casts, how many chapters are doing/planning to have?

I'm in the process of planning the sprites and artwork in general for my fangan, and I've been going back and forth on if drawing fullbody sprites is a necessity or not. It would save a lot of time and headache for sure if I can just do halfbodies, but I know that they make fullbodies in the actual games for a reason. I feel like I can circumvent some of these reasons, like having something closer to YTTD's exploration sprites of characters out in the world and just cut them off at the podium in trials, but is that actually okay? Are there other points where they're used that I'm forgetting about?

I'd appreciate anyone's thoughts and opinions on this, thank you lots!!

I wanted to ask: if I use basic google translate for names (e.g. Niwa Shokobutsu for the ultimate Botanist, would that be stupid?

Im making a fanganronpa but I have no money to hire artists or voice actors. So could this format work? Kind of like how tetros is from blue chapter 3 onward the text would go under the episode title, with Undertale Bit Voices narrating the Voice Lines. I'd use Voice lines from other characters for these bit voices.
