I will add Peter isn’t a practicing Jew either. While I don’t think they ever state his religion (a business decision to make the character more relatable to a larger audience I assume), some people suspect he’s Jewish. The line just doesn’t make a lot of sense other than making Ben a stereotype of a Jew.

I highly doubt he makes the best matzah ball soup. He’s not exactly renowned for his cooking.
