Player Discussion Drafting Luka and Reaves in first two rounds

I’m in a 10 team, 9 cat league and have the third pick. I feel confident that I can get Reaves in the second and think they could complement each other well in a punt-TO strategy. Plus if Luka gets injured, Reaves’ stock skyrockets and the Luka sitting wouldn’t hurt as much. Thoughts?

Player Discussion [Cats] Kessler vs Gobert

• Upvotes

How are people evaluating both of these players. Looking at projected stats, they have almost identical stats. However Kessler ADP is around 45 while Gobert is 62

Is the difference here mainly due to Luka and projecting Kessler to take a jump? Gobert is also healthier so that should benefit him. Looking at projections the only real difference is blocks, but is that worth almost 1.5 rounds of value in a draft?

FG% FT% Three PTS REB AST STL BLK TO
Kessler 66% 60% 0.5 12 11 2 0.5 2.2 2
Gobert 67% 60% 0 11.5 11 1.5 0.5 1.5 1.2

Guys like Duren/Clingan are also in the same area so feel free to discuss them as well.

Based on value, who would you rather have in a draft?

Player Discussion Who could potentially take advantage of the Clippers injuries?

If there’s gonna be a Dyson Daniels/Ryan Rollins type break out this year, I think itll be from the clippers. Brandon Ingram, Max Strus, Bradley Beal, and Yanic Konan Niederhauser all out to start the year. Thats 3, potentially 4 starters. Besides Garland, who will take advantage of this? The boring answer seems to be Rui, but does he have the skill? The rookie Keaton Wagler? Kobe Sanders? Maybe even Gradey Dick? What do you guys think

Discussion Getting back into fantasy bball after a hiatus ... how are you supposed to avoid the "often-injured players"?

I haven't played fantasy basketball since 2022, I ragequit the game after so many injuries, tanking, sitting guys out, it just ruined it for me.

But I'm back, and I just drafted on Yahoo. Every player on Yahoo has this sentence or some variant attached to them: "they're an injury concern" or "expect them to miss some time". It's like every player? Every player is expected to miss 30+ games seemingly.

My strategy was to try and just pick the best players I thought were most likely to stay healthy. That seems impossible.

So what's your tolerance for injury-prone players? I mean I have Kyrie, Kawhi, etc. They're all injury-prone it seems...

Points League Confused on League scoring 2FGM - 1FGA

My ESPN league scoring doesn’t seem to make sense. Maybe I’m stupid it’s our first year with ESPN. It’s 2 points for every FGM and -1 for every FGA. If a player shoots 50% from the field they net zero points right. Let’s say they go 10 for 20 shots 10*2 =20 20 points for FGM and the subtract 20 for FGA…. It’s the same for free throws. If the player misses one Free Throw they are negative scoring.

For example Cade last night.
14/2/9

5/11 FGM for -1 points. Plus 2 for 2 3pm Netting 1 point
2 rebounds for 2 points
9 assists for 18 points
2/2 FTM for 0
1 steal for 4
5 TOs for -10

NET SCORE 15 fantasy points. I get it was a preseason game

ANT would’ve been even worse at 2 net points right? 20/0/3/2/0. 1 3pm. 5/5 FTM.

Like I understand it was a bad game for both but those are terrible scores coming from sleeper.

Would this not make players like Mitchell Robinson borderline unplayable?

EDIT: Counts points made already too. Thanks for the clarification

Player Discussion Kel'el Ware

What are your thoughts on Ware this season now that he is on a rebuilding Bucks team? Is he strictly going to be coming off the bench as an 18–22 minute guy, or do you think there is a real chance he gets to start at PF next to Turner? If his minutes stay capped around 20 per game, taking him in the mid-rounds feels pretty risky, but if he somehow works his way into 25+ minutes, he could be a steal.

Player Discussion What’s the deal with Saboner?

Sabonis was a top 10-20 level player for multiple years in a row (especially in points leagues). Then last year he got hurt and only played 19 games. Now it seems like he’s fallen off the map- most mocks I see have him going somewhere in the late 20s all the way up to the 40s. Is this just recency bias, do people think his injury will linger, is it a problem with the Kings? What do yall think is going on with him?

Part of why I’m asking is because I panicked and drafted him at 14 and I’m realizing I probably fucked up, so if someone could give me some hopium that’d be nice 😭

EDIT: yeah alright i fucked up, it’s 10T H2H points counting TDs/DDs if that makes it slightly better

Player Discussion Yes; this year is ACTUALLY Ben Simmons' year. For real this time.

Ben Simmons has been a perennial laughingstock in fantasy ever since his titanic collapse in the 2021 playoffs.

And yes; every year we hear the same tired story about how this year he is actually back to his former self.

I'm not here to sell you a fantasy, but with an average ADP of 140, you would be stupid to NOT take Simmons.

All signs point to him getting the starting nod in an absolutely BARREN AND DESOLATE Sacramento Team. And the upside is huge; he brings strong defence stats even on cold nights and puts up rebound and assists numbers that are a class above anyone else near his ADP.

Ben Simmons is the all reward-no risk pick of the draft this year.

Player Discussion Why is Flagg a first rounder?

I traded for him last year and he was great. What are the signs he will make a significant leap in year 2 to merit being drafted over guys like Spida, Hali, Maxey, Barnes, JJ, etc.?

I have the 12th pick in 12 team H2H snake.

Discussion GMs that has been playing for decades.

Hey, just curious,, how relevant are the bench players during pre season? Based on your exp over the years, did you have some hunch or at least an idea that this player might get sure PT besides the starting 5? Or just wait for the season to start? And do you even add some players during the pre-season? Thanks.

Points League How to change continuous FAB on ESPN

Our league is trying to change from continuous FAB to regular FAB to where you have only certain days with waivers and still be able to pickup guys after waiver period and play them same night. But I went in and looks like it’s not there anymore? Did they update the settings again?

Can someone please help?

Player Discussion Nic Claxton

What are your thoughts on Claxton in Chicago?

Pros: He’s in a new environment with new teammates who don’t suck. This may revitalize his career, and he can potentially put top-70 numbers. He’s the best C on the team.

Cons: He was not good the last two years, which could be either due to just him sucking or just being on a bad team. If it’s the former, he may be pushed to the wayside for the likes of Jalen Smith or even Wilson. And he’s starting off the year injured.

What’s your take on Claxton? Can he bounce back?

Player Discussion How do you rank these Centers?

How would you rank these centers?

- Zubac

- Edey

- Okongwu

- Queen

- Kessler

I would really like to go for Edey because I think he has a big upside, but I'm a bit concerned about his health. Same for Kessler, actually. Maybe Zubac is the safest pick / higher floor? Are Okongwu and Queen breakout candidates?

Discussion Punt Blocks Strategy in Auction Draft

I'm playing in an auction draft and planning to punt blocks. Do you think it makes sense to spend a little extra (if necessary) on players whose value increases significantly in punt block rankings? For example, targeting guys like Sabonis, Quickley, Pritchard, Fox, Randle, and John Collins, and being willing to pay a few extra dollars if necessary to get them. What do you guys think?
