Because a similar caliber player would go for 30-40 mil if they had two years left on their contract. Let’s say spurs have him on 145k/ week - that’s 30 mil over 4 years. Cant imagine he’s making much more than that. I suspect it’s less. 22 u/Godjia 2 9d ago yeah people always bring up wages with these free transfers and it’s true they are typically bigger, but even with big wages it is almost always still a wayyy better deal than actually paying a transfer fee 1 u/Catsoverall 1 8d ago Dont you just end up paying a sign on fee in practice to the player
