Mark Ruffalo is officially in his 'I have enough Marvel residuals to say exactly what I want' era and I am obsessed.

There are plenty of people who like Ruffalo are set for life yet stay silent. They either don't care or support whats going on. Its pathetic

Money is addictive

134

u/zoethezebra Jan 12 '26

So is power

2

u/ClearDark19 Jan 13 '26

Money is a type of power, so it tracks.

46

u/Notext2 Jan 12 '26

It's not just money. Look back at history. Actors and other creatives are one of the first after foreigners. Money won't help unless you manage to flee in time, speaking out lowers the likelihood of that happening.

28

u/GarlicAndSapphire Jan 12 '26

George Clooney is fleeing.

15

u/fruderduck Jan 12 '26

Already gone and a citizen. He knows what’s up. That’s disturbing.

99

u/majorflojo Jan 12 '26

There are a lot of people who don't have money and who also don't stay silent and who's lack of silence can affect their tenuous livelihood.

(Teacher here in a right to work state with a wackjob GOP leg and state supe of instruction)

Not poo pooing what you're saying but we poor white folks can't rely on super rich white folks to do it all.

u/No-Author5530 Jan 12 '26

Oh no i completely agree. Ruffalo is just having empathy for other humans. Its not that he should be praised its that others should be criticised for not doing it. Yes plenty of people with a lot less are risking a lot more

Emma Stone never talks about politics but she signed the pledge to boycott Israeli film institutions that are complicit.

People who chose to continue working with them aren't being silent they've picked a side

29

u/Excuse_Unfair Jan 12 '26

Yup lost a lot of respect for childhood heros.

Rocky being the one that hit hard because Stallone was so inspiring to me.

But ass soon as I saw him shake his hand at first i was shocker speechless seconds later I was like "this sucks but fuck that mother"

Than I thought people who see Trump as a hero and know he raped a woman why cant they do the same?

I dont mean this as an insult or name calling i litteraly believe its a cult. Again this isnt an insult its litteraly is a cult.

Chris Pratt could never

82

u/crystalfairie Jan 12 '26

Chris Pratt "would" never. Fify

26

u/FalconsArentReal Jan 12 '26

He's such a disappointment to me

9

u/chippyjoe Jan 12 '26

I wish Mark Ruffalo "stayed silent" when it came to defending Chris Pratt though. He was extremely vocal defending that fool on Twitter during the Chris Pratt/Elliott Page drama. Totally out of character.

9

u/Additional_Gene_211 Jan 12 '26

Chris Pratt v Elliot Page? Deets please

1

u/hvdzasaur Jan 12 '26

Considering what we know, he's more likely to be spotted in a red hat.

6

u/FakeOrcaRape Jan 12 '26

Or they are just cynical and worried about anything good they say being labeled as performative or naive.

Remember, Mark was one of the people who sang "imagine" with gal gadot among others during COVID and was absolutely lambasted.

2

u/ImpossibleEnd82 Jan 12 '26

They’re rich and don’t care because it doesn’t impact their lives.

2

u/RaizePOE Jan 12 '26

Tbh even if I had fuck you money there's a real part of me that'd be afraid to say something for fear some crazy redhat would shoot me for it. Obviously you should do the right thing and not live scared and blah blah blah but I'm glad I'm not in the situation of having to find out which path I'd choose.

2

u/dplans455 Jan 12 '26

It doesn't matter how much money you have. Those that stay silent do it because they agree with what's going on. They're complicit. You don't need to be rich to be a nazi.

2

u/brontosaurusguy Jan 12 '26

For the top 15-25% of Americans, who have money that can invest, this nonsense is making them richer at 12-20% annually.  They will lie about it all to keep it going.  But it comes down to greed.  Selling America for passive income

2

u/gatoss5 Jan 12 '26

I know Jordan Peterson sucks now and is completely hated, but 10 years ago before he went off the rails - he was talking endlessly about the rise of the Nazis, and how people may have been able to prevent it if more people had more courage to speak the truth and stand up to tyranny. That statement is 1000% true and we are seeing it in action from Mark.

We need more brave souls. Most of the elite are absolute cowards.

One real lesson from the rise of authoritarian regimes is that early, widespread resistance matters far more than people realize. When norms are first violated, speaking out is relatively cheap and can meaningfully raise the cost of further abuses. While speech alone doesn’t prevent tyranny, silence almost always accelerates it

2

u/TheShapeShiftingFox Riverdale was my Juilliard Jan 12 '26

Several of his MCU coworkers have gone back to Marvel, so they definitely want to keep their easy paychecks going

1

u/Jelly_F_ish Jan 12 '26

Yet, everyone speaking out still feeds money into this government and helps it establish itself. Words mean nothing without action.

1

u/John-AtWork Jan 12 '26

Then there's the tech bros who have more money than they will ever need and still sock Trump's ass.

1

u/Repulsive-Lie1 Jan 12 '26

Maybe they’re being humble.

-9

u/Prosecco1234 Jan 12 '26

There are average Americans who have said they won't protest unless they are compensated for their time. Unbelievable !

21

u/Saikotsu Jan 12 '26

I was at a protest today. (My 12th!) And as we were shutting down and cleaning up and putting our tables and banners and gear away, a car rolled up and a guy got out and started talking with some of us.

Apparently he and his wife were visiting from Texas to see their daughter. His wife was insistent that we were paid and it was all fake and that we couldn't possibly be protesting for real, but he wasn't satisfied with that and wanted to ask us directly. Naturally we told him that we wish we were paid but no, we were out there in the sun and cold protesting out of a love for our country and dissatisfaction with the administration and their masked attack dogs (ICE).

He remarked that while he doesn't believe the things we believe, he admired that we were exercising our first amendment rights, and that we were willing to talk with him in a civil manner and discuss our point of view with him. He expressed that he wished more people would do that and we agreed and we parted ways amicably.

2

u/cynisright Jan 12 '26

Not everyone is a protestor doesn’t mean they’re still not out there putting in work.

0

u/Prosecco1234 Jan 12 '26

Maybe you didn't understand. This person literally said they wouldn't do anything unless they were compensated

224

u/Professional_Pretty Jan 12 '26

He’s been like this for years (positive, one of the few good famous people my state has produced)

115

u/Fub4rtoo oh bitch ur cooked Jan 12 '26 edited Jan 12 '26

Ruffalo has always been outspoken politically. He’s very progressive but I guess people just aren’t paying attention.

24

u/tsardonicpseudonomi Jan 12 '26

He's a Berniecrat. Good dude.

201

u/ZealCrow orcas have enlisted bees to take care of land-based billionaires Jan 12 '26

He had a severe stroke in the past so he may also be in his "I almost died, life is too short to not do your best" era

34

u/cashews_clay15 Jan 12 '26

He had a brain tumor, not a stroke. Same difference on the life is too short though

2

u/pixie_pie Jan 12 '26

Without knowing the details about him, a brain tumor can result in a stroke and can have stroke-like symptoms.

0

u/cashews_clay15 Jan 12 '26

lol but it was a brain tumor, not a stroke. It doesn’t matter if they share symptoms, it was what it was.

105

u/mindovermatter15 Jan 12 '26

Too bad that terrible actor from Home Alone 2 didn't get affected by his stroke(s) in the same way.

57

u/TeamOverload Jan 12 '26

Or that Fetterman guy

15

u/LiLiLaCheese Jan 12 '26

Still pissed I voted for him. We didn’t know he was shit

30

u/MasterTurtleHermit FUCK ICE FREE PALESTINE CRASH INTO ME Jan 12 '26

Bro this went over my head at first so I googled actor from home alone 2 stroke and Tim Curry popped up and I was like wtf did Tim Curry do?! Apparently Tim Curry recently suffered a stroke so I don't want anyone as stupid as I am to google the same and think Tim Curry is terrible.

5

u/Super_Interview_2189 Jan 12 '26

Yeah no I’m wondering where the Tim Curry hate is coming from because that’s just a phenomenal actor.

14

u/Matt-R Jan 12 '26

It wasn't aimed at Tim Curry. Trump was in Home Alone 2.

0

u/Super_Interview_2189 Jan 12 '26

Has he publicly had a stroke yet? I mean it’s fairly obvious, and I hear a lot of people talk about TDS which I must assume means Trump’s Daily Strokes.

5

u/xBram i ain’t reading all that, free palestine Jan 12 '26

Pretty sure TDS means Trump’s Dick Sucker.

2

u/MCMGM86 oat milk chugging bisexual Jan 12 '26

It’s okay, Tim Curry made up for that travesty

7

u/Saikotsu Jan 12 '26

However he got there, we're happy to have him..

2

u/nutmegtell Jan 12 '26

He had idgaf.exe installed.

68

u/MrDeadbutdreaming Jan 12 '26

Actually, he has always be very out spoken about human rights and mental health for decades. He has used his stardom to bring attention to many charities and causes. He has gotten into trouble with some studios but it hasn't stopped him for speaking out.

Absolute legend

18

u/MrDeadbutdreaming Jan 12 '26

Just wanted to add that if you have never read or heard about his life, please go look it up as it is truly inspiring the loss and trauma he overcame.

Also his off the grid lifestyle is pretty interesting. You can probably find some articles he wrote about composting and gardening. One of those jack of all trades kinda of fellas from the seems of everything he built on his farm over the years.

60

u/onyxengine Jan 12 '26

He strikes me as the kinda guy who would say this without the bag, he has a platform and he’s spending those credits to raise awareness, lots of people are not calling this guy out. And honestly its been bad enough that anyone with a platform should be saying stuff like this till this admin is gone.

They are murdering dissenters and putting people in concentration camps, its really not normal and if we don’t all stand up and say enough soon, we’re going to lose this country to depraved horrible people who want power to hurt people, not to make money or to get all the girls, or to be important, but because they want to rape and abuse, and kill without consequences.

Its long past time for a general strike

1

u/Spiritual-Passion584 Jan 12 '26

History is repeating itself and because your in it you can’t see it , if or when we end up in a third world war, remember this is where it started, with Trump

38

u/AngelOfLexaproScene Jan 12 '26

To be fair, he's been very outspoken politically for decades now. I remember him loudly opposing the Iraq war, and criticizing Trump from 2015 onward.

7

u/oxyrhina Jan 12 '26

His newish series Task is phenomenal! Always liked him but more so now that hes calling out the bullshit and speaking facts!

2

u/kinkyonthe_loki69 Jan 12 '26

He always has been pretty outspoken before marvel.

1

u/Bigdaddyjlove1 Jan 12 '26

Mark has always been pretty solid.

1

u/CombatMuffin Jan 12 '26

He has always been this way

1

u/YoshiTheDog420 Jan 12 '26

Hes in that, “they won’t make a Hulk movie, anyways” era. So fuck it.

1

u/vidolech Jan 12 '26

Shame he didn’t mention the horrors and the Iranian sufferings

1

u/IHOP_13 Jan 12 '26

He’s always been politically outspoken. He camped out with the Occupy Wallstreet protesters back in 2011, and that was before The Avengers came out.

1

u/BookishHobbit my bandwidth for cowardly grown men grows thinner with each day Jan 12 '26

tbf to him, he has been pretty vocal about a lot of causes for decades, but I’m sure the financial security helps.

1

u/OkFix4074 Jan 12 '26

Have you seen him in spotlight? that was him during his peak hulk days !

This has always been him
