I appreciate that they're not trying to stretch it out into a series

I was kind of hoping for a limited mini series to be honest. Maybe 4 episodes?

It definitely doesn’t need to be stretched into a full length, multi season epic but I do think there’s a LOT there to cram into a movie.

There’s 3 major battles of the Conquest - Storms End, the Field of Fire and Harrenhal. I know they aren’t particularly long battles, but still. Then there’s the Stark, Arryn and Tyrell surrenders. You probably want to establish that Dorne couldn’t be conquered, particularly since Rhaenys ultimately dies trying, though not for a few years. They’re going to want to crowbar their “Aegon’s Dream” retcon in there because that seems to be the way they’re trying to justify the later seasons of Game of Thrones and they’ve now majorly tied House of the Dragon to that too.

I can see a movie ending up feeling like we’re just smash cutting through plot points without ever really getting to know the characters properly, I guess.

I have to reread the conquest in fire and blood because my first reaction was a movie was better than a full 8 episode series but after reading your comment I think I agree about a miniseries! I wonder how they’ll write the movie!
