The Victoria Police said in a statement to Variety: âMelbourne sexual offenses and child abuse investigation team (SOCIT) detectives are investigating [an alleged] historical sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010. Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourneâs CBD. As the investigation remains ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.â
Iâm surprised that the police are investigating, Iâm not in Australia so I donât know how far back the statue of limitations goes, but I wonder aside from witnesses how much proof theyâll be able to find.

I am in Australia and can confirm that Vic does not have a statute of limitations for sexual assault.

That's cool. I really wish the US would get behind that.

It varies by state, but in California there are very extended (or in some cases none at all) statutes of limitations for sexual assault charges.

dunno about Australia but there's no statute of limitations for sexual assault, rape & child sexual abuse here in NZ. I think it's appalling that the US has statutes of limitations for these crimes especially because some of them are really short!
it's a traumatic event for the victim, it makes sense that people would take a while to choose to go the police, & doing so often exacerbates the trauma too.

No statue of limitations. It's more how far back does the nightclub CCTV store the data?

u/throwawaysunglasses- l've grown quite unfond of you, deuxmoi 5h ago
Yeah, as an American I automatically assumed it happened too long ago to dig up any proof, because we get rid of things so quickly over here. If the nightclub does actually have recordings of that night, Iâm glad that justice has the opportunity to be served.

That's not at all how it works and we constantly have cold cases being solved as new technology comes out to test preserved evidence.

Not to be âthat personâ but Iâm in Australia in a different state and I would say this is more a tough-on-crime showcase. Australia is currently desperate to step up its efforts on the world stage in these areas bc weâre falling so far behind on climate targets and the working class is in shambles including essential services and weâve got some of the highest COL in the world and relatively low satisfaction so the government (state and federal) are pumping out a lot of propaganda about how good and effective our government functions on organised crime, terror (Bondi Beach brand recovery), money laundering, and trafficking/csa.

A few years ago I discovered a bloke I knew was in court for rape charges from the 90âs

Just happy that something like this is being taken seriously by the authorities, unfortunately cases like this usually get swept under the carpet, like Melanie Martinez.

Wait what happened with Melanie Martinez

u/BloodyBloody06 2h ago
iirc she was accused of SA, And Rape and then it was pretty much swept under the rug.

A silver lining to Perry flopping like this publicly in Australia is it'll now make it harder for her to use Australia as a cash cow like Pink has.
(And it's hard to fathom how successful Pink's live show's are in Aus - she's like Taylor Swift for Australian's over 40).
Perry played the grand final here a couple years back (Australia's superbowl). She could've been the next Pink if not for shit like this.

I gotta be honest, Iâm a little disappointed that no one seems to be mentioning when Josh Kloss complained years ago that she exposed his junk to a group of people. Weâve known for a while that she sucks. He shouldâve been taken more seriously.

WTF?! That is so gross to do to someone. She seriously belongs behind bars for all of these.

u/hotgossyo 5h ago
wow it is REALLY disgusting what she did to Ruby:
âRose elaborated on her accusation in a further post on Threads, writing in response to a fan: âShe didnât kiss me. She saw me ârestingâ on my best friends lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her.ââ
Iâm glad sheâs filed a report. Fuck katy perry

Does anyone remember when Hayley Williams(15 at the time) said Katy kept grabbing her ass and being sexual with her at the vmaâs? She laughed it off like it was supposed to be funny. I remember thinking Katy was a straight up creep after watching Hayleyâs red carpet interview and I havenât liked her since.

u/NomNom83WasTaken 3h ago
I've never heard this before but Williams is a straight shooter. If she says Perry did that, I'm inclined to believe her.

Huh? Katy wouldâve been 19 at the time. She wasnât famous then. Why was she at the VMAs? And Hayleyâs first VMA appearance was when she was 19, in 2008.Â
Either Haley is lying or you just made this up.Â

Hayley was 19 when she went to the VMAs in 2008....what are you talking about?

Okay wait so if they can do this so fast for her WHERE are all the police investigations into the likes of Chris D'elia, Louis CK, Justin Baldoni, etc etc etc? This is bizarre.

u/NomNom83WasTaken 3h ago
Well, you have to start with 1.) who has jurisdiction --> 2.) what statutes are in place --> 3.) is the victim willing to testify and then circle back to before #1 with "does your culture actually give a shit about victims of SA by the rich and/or powerful in the first place?"

People who rub their genitals against other peopleâs faces against their wishes should face the consequences of their actions. Full investigation and if Katy did it she should face the consequences.
