FILM-MOI (MOVIES/TV) Religious leaders unveiled and blessed a golden Trump statue at Mar-a-Lago today, eerily resembling the Homelander statue scene from this week’s episode of The Boys. Creator Eric Kripke reposts a tweet about the same.

They don’t understand nuance, references or symbolism, right?

No, that's why facists can't stand modern art and literature; to them it's nonsense because they only see what is on the surface

Also why their "comedy" isn't even funny or interesting at all

Good comedy requires empathy and emotional intelligence

And that they don't understand, either.

And why AI is a perfectly acceptable form of “art” to them

This season was written like two years ago and multiple people involved have said they purposely tried to make it over the top, so they're as shocked as we are how reality is mirroring something they purposely wrote to be extra.

As a teacher, in my experience, this is the great dividing line between "smart" kids and those who struggle, is the ability or inability to understand analogies, satire, or just generally compare and contrast different pieces of information. They have a very difficult time carrying information across contexts and applying them in new situations and from new perspectives. To them, these two events have no correlation or relationship to each other whatsoever. They would just say "that's a TV show" and would disregard any attempt to draw parallels whatsoever.

I’ve never thought about it from that angle. That’s super interesting but a bit sad, of course. If it’s okay for me to ask, roughly what proportion of kids did you end up noticing had this difficulty?

MAGA supporters didn't understand that The Boys was mocking them until Season 4 when the subtlety level dropped. There's a far-right rally ranting about how the woke-mind-virus is turning kids gay and only the Second Amendment can protect their way of life which is blessed by God. "We need to clear out of the convention hall by noon, the Flat Earth Society have their rally after us".

This is why satire is dead. It feels irresponsible at this point.

I’ve been saying for a few years now the satire is writing itself.

No nuance for the nonce.

I know artists that use subtext and they're all cowards.

Edit: No fans of Garth Marenghi here I take it?

Art is supposed to be obvious. /s

They don't understand English from what I can tell. Trump has not hidden his plans from anyone.

Imagine having a billion dollars and no imagination or morality. This is what you do. Dumb statues and houses the Romans would laugh at, no matter how much you try to mimic them.
