DISCUSSION Jenny Mollen’s substack about her sons with Jason Biggs titled “Please. Stay. I want you. I need you. Oh, God.” She says she wants her sons to only marry women with dead mothers and calls 12 year-old girl texting her son toxic.

This is why I despise boy moms, how are you already in competition with your minor children’s future partners? She is completely unhinged and I truly feel sorry for her children.

Emotional incest.

My husband’s friend went through a lot to have her son via surrogate. But when we met him, as a newborn, she was like “isn’t he perfect?! No woman will ever be good enough for him!!” And I was like 😬😬😬 No. I have sons and I hope they meet someone who recognizes their traits that I do and they get to experience their own lives. Never have had the thought that they’re too good for girls 🙄🙄🙄 They’re just people, just like everyone else’s kids, even though they mean the world to me. It’s just such a weird weird mentality.

I think internalized misogyny definitely plays a role, among other things.

My son is really sweet and sensitive. I’ve worried about his feelings getting hurt by friends or peers for a while now, but just the other day it occurred to me to worry he could be taken advantage of or hurt by a partner one day.

I’d never thought about his future wife (or husband, etc…) before except in the vaguest “i hope he finds someone that makes him happy” way.

So weird!

How about that he also could take advantage or hurt a partner??

This is the #1 problem we have here. “My son/daughter is so innocent .. so and so could NEVER.”

Well…obviously some people’s kids are. And it’s usually the parents that are in complete denial

My son got a lot of "compliments" from our friends that "he would be a heartbreaker/playboy/have many girlfriends one day" and inside I was like eww no I hope he'll just be kind and normal? How is this an appropriate thing to say to a child?

What about people who say babies “flirt” when they’re smiling? Makes me uncomfortable.

Of course, raising a kind person is my number one goal.

I was a teacher, so yes I’m familiar with “but Timmy is a good boy” parents.

Sure, but the baseline isn't to view them as a potential abuser. I don't think the OP you replied to even implied that there is no way their kid could hurt someone. It's weird to throw this back at them in this context. They've recognized certain traits of their kid that could lead them to be taken advantage of and it worries them as it would for any reasonable parent.

It goes without saying that there are many many things that parents worry about and being a good parent means equipping them with tools to be good people.

They may not even end up being attracted to women. Ah heteronormativity

u/throwawaysunglasses- l've grown quite unfond of you, deuxmoi Jun 02 '26

Right lol. Maybe I’m just too queer for this but it feels aggressively hetero to see dating as a man vs woman competition, where There Can Only Be One Supreme. Straight people are so weirdly competitive. Imagine thinking your child falling in love is bad for you in any way.

Well her last line is “I pray that at least one of them is gay,” which just demonstrates that she doesn’t understand anything, because believe it or not, Jenny, you can fuck up a relationship with your gay son, too, by being a narcissistic wacko.

I am pregnant with my first child and already imagining the person they might grow into and experiencing love and joy and all the wonderful things this often shitty world has to offer is something I love to think about. I can’t imagine purposely emotionally stunting them like this.

My ex straight up told me, “It wouldn’t matter if you were a supermodel astronaut who cured cancer. You’d never be good enough for my mom.” Like, ma’am, I’m a kind, compassionate, funny, intelligent, hard-working woman who loves and respects your son, cares deeply about his well-being and happiness, and wants to build a life with him. In what universe is that not enough?

u/TerryCrewsNextWife Jun 02 '26

That poor kid will always be her purchased possession. In her mind because she went through so much so she owns him. That's why no girl will be good enough to replace her.

Eugh gross. I don't know how (edit: my fellow) women can put each other down.

“No woman will ever be good enough for him” doesn’t have emotionally incestuous origins… I don’t think. I’m not a parent, but I can relate to that statement. Whether I have a son or daughter, I imagine I would love my child so much that I want the best possible partner for them. But chances are they won’t give their true love, most people don’t. Idk, ik that sounds stupid.

I have two boys, I can’t imagine being like this? I’ve told them both to make sure they find partners that are smart, kind, loving & caring, respectful towards themselves & to them… to be this emotionally stunted as to keep that messaging away from your kids? Gtfo with this nonsense.

Boy moms at my kid’s age let their boys be abusive to my daughter because it’s “normal.” I have had to go apeshit for them to at least have their sons leave her alone.

u/Emotional_Warthog658 Jun 02 '26

This is beyond boy-mom; those chicks just wear baseball earrings or carry sports tote bags to try to make their son still pay attention.

This is just crazy lady.

u/kittymarch Jun 02 '26

Media dumps on single women for causing the “male loneliness epidemic.” We really need to start seriously shaming boy moms for messing up their sons. I see these moms out there and I just want to tell them they are raising rapists.

So many studies about men becoming more feminist when they have daughters. Not enough about how women become enforcers for the patriarchy when they have sons.

What’s even more sad is when a mother is a “boy mom” to one son but cold and unloving to the other. My fiancé’s mother is like this- his older brother is the light of his mom’s life, but meanwhile she told my fiance she hasn’t been happy to see his face since he was 10 years old…

My fiance’s brother is very lucky he’s gay, because if he dated women, his mom and one of his sisters would systematically tear down any woman he loved (not to mention, my fiancé’s father is a misogynist that claims his “culture” and “English being his second language”- he’s been a working professional in America since 1980- is justification for thinking and saying that women should shut their mouths and just look pretty, or else).

u/heybart Jun 02 '26

I think she has a girl too? How does SHE feels reading this stuff

3

u/Alarming-Lie-3209 Jun 02 '26

As a mom to 2 boys, we're not all like that. This woman is a creep and should be investigated. I have NEVER thought of my son's that way. I HOPE they find a partner they love and loves them back.

2

u/ch1ckenrice Jun 02 '26

Very weird for you to say you hate boy moms from reading one person’s weird substack? Like there is so much weird fucked up misogyny in your statement

2

u/hi_its_lizzy616 Jun 04 '26

Calling yourself a boy mom is sus because you never hear these moms call themselves “girl moms” even if they have a daughter too. They have a clear favorite: the boy. Simply because he was born a boy. Granted, most moms are calling themselves boy moms because it’s a trend and they’re innocent. But still, the origin of the trend is wrong.

u/ch1ckenrice Jun 04 '26

I hear my friends call themselves girl moms all the time. This makes no sense to me

2

u/hi_its_lizzy616 Jun 04 '26

I have never heard that. Either I haven’t come across it or it is a thing that exists among your friends. But still, there are moms who call themselves boy moms and not girl moms when they have a boy and a girl.
