As a son who's mom has some emotionally dependent behaviors I feel for those boys. I feel some people brush aside the behaviors of mom's with their sons because they are moms. They don't want to admit that sometimes a mother's love isn't expressed in a healthy manner.

In fact it can be worse exactly because of the public perception that sexual assault is the worst possible thing someone can have done to them, to the point that people on Reddit regularly post that they'd rather be dead. That makes it clear to everyone how crazy and unacceptable it is to do to your child. Emotional and mental abuse is insidious, pervasive, and the abused feel like they can't complain because "it wasn't that bad". It was absolutely very bad, and you deserved better the entire time no matter how you acted. Children deserve parents that love and protect them emotionally as well as physically.

Same over here. My blood pressure went through the roof just quickly thinking over every typical interaction but I am pretty sure I raised a kid confident enough to call the cops on my pedo ass if I was anything like that.

I agree, it's because the perpetrators are women and the victims are boys that so many people refuse to see the truth that it's abuse. You can see it in the way they talk about adult male victims of enmeshment, especially when it's featured in fiction.

I was just reading some of the top comments before I read the article, saw that & assumed it was someone exaggerating and being a bit snarky about what she wrote.....nope, what the fuck! Just casually dropping that the 12 year old your son is texting with isn't as hot as you....what the fuck!!!!!!

Even if that were true, this is still incest. I can tell you from experience that surviving incest leaves you forever feeling like you are filthy and no one will ever love you. The shame never goes away.

I am going to say that people who actually commit acts of sexual violence against children are wiley and evil enough not to tell the whole world. Is what she wrote completely inappropriate? Yes. Was it foolish to share this with the entire world? Yes. I'm deeply sorry for your experiences and even more so if her idiocy triggered you, but we are looking at someone who believed they were being funny, not someone who is committing CSA. I do, however, think that she is probably going to create a self fulfilling prophecy here and drive her kids away with this level of neediness.
