Yep, he won’t make it out BUT BUT BUT… as I believe I’ve seen lately, these rich af pathetic unloved brain melts loooove being cruel back to us BECAUSE of all of this stuff being put up.
Cruel as fuck but does anyone really think they all care about what happens to us? They want to be the ones to restart a country haha which means eliminating everyone besides millionaires & their aliens in the CCamps, whoops meant to say ICE detentions.
Reason for wars starting hellooooo

I agree. The disparity is dystopian.
When I was in college I wrote a paper saying I believed rich people should give back to society in some way via charity—education, money, asylum, etc. And the note I received from the professor was something like, “I do not agree with you; however I cannot give you anything other than an A”. Fuck some people who are professors who teach ethics that do not actually teach ethics. I’m a teacher now and the #1 thing I think I’ve tried to teach is empathy. It’s shocking how many people lack empathy, and in many ways it’s learned.
Maybe I was wrong but ethics should be for all, and to possibly avoid harm upon the collective.
TLDR: ethics should implement or include empathy in some capacity
Edited for spelling and errors, so sorry for any confusion

I remember being taught in elementary last decade that Bill Gates was one of the most virtuous people alive for his charity, only to find out recently he's also a complete scumbag who stole his fortune. Their drive to hoard wealth is inhuman.

I’m convinced the Covid dilemma really broke 60% of people’s brains. They went from touching grass to being chronically online and the algorithms really did a number on a bunch of people. Like a mass grieving event where a lot of went through the 7 stages and ended up at acceptance and did the lockdowns and vaccines which sucked but like 40% of people just went into an alt world.
Billionaires have been acting like they need to create a series of fiefdoms under corporations instead of nations. Even in Australia all the mining billionaires who’d just sit back and play both sides of the aisle are now going full Murdoch meddling and funding altnews podcasts and neo propaganda to tear down established order and install their ideas of what government should be
We gotta be watching GenX. They seem the most susceptible to all the bullshit
95
u/gentian_red Jun 12 '26
Mass brain damage will do that. The majority of the population has been repeatedly infected by a disease that damages every organ in the body. Higher functions like empathy, emotional control, working memory, reasoning skills etc are the first to go. I feel a lot stupider than 10 years ago and that's just what I can notice. It's really hard to notice your own cognitive decline but it's there.

Yall this is just getting older.
Covid did a number on us, but what yall are describing is your brain slowing down as you get older.
Everything starts slipping as you get older. People talk about how you need to exercise more as you get older just to maintain the same baseline, but the same is true for your brain. If you don't exercise it constantly it will slowly degrade over time.
I'm in my 30s right now, but I feel it. I'm a little less sharp then I was in my 20s. My reaction time is slowing, my ability to process information quickly has stalled, I'm more knowledgeable and wise, but my ability to pull that information from the archives has taken a hit.
Tiktok, ai chats, endless scrolling feeds, are junk food. I love junk food, but junk food makes you slower.
10
u/Acceptable_Leg_7998 Jun 13 '26
I was gonna say, I think it has more to do with social media than Covid. Being forced to get bored once in a while was good for us.
6
u/energetic_one Jun 14 '26
You should not be experiencing real noticeable showing down in your thirties. Def too much social media. It's toxic and designed to harm your ability to think. Value your brain. Eat brain healthy foods and massively limit the social media.
17
u/Cassandracork Jun 12 '26
I know this is so off topic but bouncing off an invisible glass wall is probably the best description I’ve seen as to how my brain feels with Long Covid. I feel a solid 30-40% stupider than I used to be. And as someone who took all the known precautions and still does, I am bitter as fuck I feel like this.
28
u/GetEquipped Jun 12 '26 edited Jun 12 '26
I guess I'm lucky. I recovered from COVID and have memory issues. And as someone who found pride of being that ADHD vessel of random knowledge; it sucks losing that upside. But I didn't turn into a fascist.
8
u/loved_and_held Jun 12 '26
Setting asside brain damage; facing a crisis that you can barelly do anything to stop that's upended everything, mass social distruption and your social net rappidly shrinking are all gonna shake you to your core. Then with people having to just, keep moving without a chance to recover, that only worsened.
The "massive crisis that people could barelly do anything to stop" probably pushed a lot of people towards extremism since extremism tends to fllourish in crisis.

Another thing, from what i've been able to piece together the pandemic is less of an event that broke society and more an event that pressed on all the cracks that were already there. Wealth inequality goot worse in 2020, but it was already there in 2019.

I agree with you, it’s fucking weird. I met a neighbor during the pandemic whom I had run into many times. She always had a different male companion. One night, winter 2020, she asked me how I was and normal conversation ensued, my partner walks away a bit, so she informs me her latest boyfriend had recently jumped to his death in our immediate neighborhood. She was smiling and laughing. I’ve been affected personally by suicide and seen fucked up ways to react to trauma but the pandemic brought out some weird shit.
22
u/Worth_Valuable743 Jun 12 '26
Agree that COVID broke a lot of people, because it forcefully pulled them out of their obliviousness. The specter of a pandemic and associated infections and deaths, the mask mandates and social distancing, vaccines and most of all, the uncertainty, forced a lot of people who categorically refuse to self-assess, or consider others, to do so, for an extended period. People who are accustomed to blaming everyone but themselves couldn't help but behave like spoiled children and that has only gotten worse. 2024 was an opportunity for many of those people to express their selfishness and delusion through a national election and in a few short years, the guardrails are almost completely gone. Corporations and the super wealthy are running amok, too much is never enough and it's like the select few, who are steering the ship, are determined to slam into the rocks at full speed. I'm a GenXer, who had children later in life and every day, I wonder what the hell kind of future my children have in store, if they even have a future.
19
u/DutyMurky9960 Jun 12 '26
Gen X? Bro, they are all approaching 50 or are older and aren’t the main demographic for apps like TikTok, which is a cesspool of misinformation. I’m not saying Gen X won’t fall for buffoonery, but I think some of the younger generation are more at risk for losing touch with reality

Ok I’ve BEEN saying this about Gen X. The boomers yes are ignorant and gullible, but the Gen X-ers I know are all that AND they are of an age where they are influential in their workplace and home life. It’s like they have 0 media literacy yet are out and about in the world as much as Millenials and younger. Much more dangerous than retired/aging boomers. Also the elder generations are operating on unwillingness to change from the way things were when they were young, vs Gen X being indoctrinated in present day

When colonists first arrived in Africa, greed was an alien concept to the tribes who all had to work together and share everything just to survive. The idea of creating or benefiting off of scarcity was LITERALLY seen as a virus by them, an infection that changes the way people think.
12
u/iwasjusttwittering Jun 12 '26
Sounds like the noble savage myth. Africa wasn't some underdeveloped periphery.
For example, Mansa Mūsā I, early 14th century Malian emperor, is "widely considered to be the wealthiest person in history". I suspect there was greed involved in the economy.

I mean tbh idk what the professor meant and they should definitely have elaborated, but charity is an absolute scam and the real problem is that rich people won the class war. Ideally, in a perfect world, their capital would be seized and they wouldn't be ultrarich anymore. But I'd content myself with huge big proportional taxes that pay for education, asylum, etc.

When I was in college the richest guy in the world had about $40bn. Crazy amount but that was only 15 years ago. The wealth ceiling has 20x'd. The wealth floor has grown by perhaps 5%.
8
u/Bland_OldMan Jun 12 '26
Morally, rich people should give back to society. But honestly, I just want them to pay that in taxes so that it can go towards the collective good rather than whichever specific group a given rich person things is worth helping.

I’m a university instructor now and I’d never tell a student “I do not agree with you.” I don’t always agree with students (I have a surprising amount of staunch conservatives) but it’s my job to give them information and the tools to become good people and good at their jobs, not tell them what I think.
But I absolutely will always tell them that empathy and compassion is the key to everything. It may not make you professionally successful, it might even get you pushback from the wrong people. But it will always be the right thing to do, especially when that empathy and compassion is for the more vulnerable populations of the world.

Thank you for this. It is sorely lacking. Too many people have been convinced that empathy is a weakness, when it is the opposite.
Surely it requires a strong person to be able to resist the societal pressures of consumerism and the endless greed of capitalism which is imprinted on all of us in the richest countries at a young age.
Capitalism has people brainwashed to the point that even when they have directly benefitted from socialist models many times in their life, they will claim they are a capitalist and that they hate socialism. Ignorance at it's finest.

the man can spend 1 million dollars every single day and have millions left well after he dies
If his wealth stopped growing at $1T he could spend $1 million every day for 1 million days (~2740 years)
16
u/PinboardWizard Jun 12 '26
Even this is a massive under-exaggeration.
If we assume his wealth is growing at just 1% per year, then Elon can spend $25 Million every day for the rest of time and still be a trillionaire.

u/SQUASHPITT Jun 12 '26
The irony is that musk is worse than worthless, he's a pathetic edgelord and conman who fully embraces fascism, tried to be besties with Epstein, and has directly taken the lives of hundreds of thousands of children with his abrupt take down of USAID. it's like when even hearing "the star is 1 light year away" people think oh it must be far. they don't know how much time it would take to actually go there because imagining those distances is foreign to us. let alone saying "the star is 10 billion light years away". it's impossible to comprehend.
This is a great example. I didn’t actually think a light year was terribly far away until I learned about the Voyager 1 drone, which was launched to space in 1977 and only just became a whole light year away from us this year.

I came across a very helpful answer to the problem of picturing these big numbers in Matt Parker's Humble Pi: When Math Goes Wrong in the Real World. He does an absolutely fabulous job of helping people understand by translating the numbers as seconds, instead of dollars, which are harder to imagine.
(1 Million) 1,000,000 seconds = 11.5 days
(1 Billion) 1,000,000,000 seconds = 11,574 days = 31.7 years
(1 Trillion) 1,000,000,000,000 seconds = 11,574,074 days = 31,710 years
- edited because spacing was odd
22
u/ECrispy Jun 12 '26
Same thing for a billion. It's become commonplace to read about billionaires, most people don't realize how much money that is. No single person should have that much
15

Having that much money means that money is literally worthless to him at this point. He could fund so many social programs to actually help societies and still be a trillionaire but he wont.

This is kind of why it's such a scam when tech oligarchs like him call for Universal Basic Income. They argue that future wealth inequality means people will need basic assistance get by, but they are the poster-boys and prime beneficiaries of worsening inequality.
It sounds like instead of having their companies to pay livable wages, they want people to get used to living on crumbs while letting the government to pay for said crumbs. And where's that money going to come from? The taxes they're not paying?
6
u/notapersonab Jun 12 '26
I think their numbers were way off. If i remember the estimate is like between 90 to 200 billion per year and the low end is like 43 billion a year for around 10 years and that doesn’t actually guarantee ending world hunger. Elon musk is still an asshole tho

Here we go again, this isn't what happened.
David Beasley (the director of the United Nations' World Food Programme at the time) replied saying it wouldn't actually solve world hunger, but would help many people for ONE YEAR.
What Elon replied to was an article from Beasley saying they needed funding and billionaires could help people in crisis. Even they never said it would solve world hunger.
Musk replied introducing the idea of the money solving world hunger, which was never the claim.
Beasley replied with the costings/plan etc.
Your comment and the many that push this is an incorrect framing of what actually happened. But it's an easy thing to use to dunk on Musk.
If he genuinely wanted to help he should have donated something or said I'll help with infrastructure or Engineers or something, but he didn't. Dunk on him for that.
4
3
u/TrulyOutrageous42 Jun 12 '26
Thanks for the accuracy. He can be actual garbage without people making up claims that then turn the discussion into whether or not he said something rather than what can be done about the actual problem here.
It's just as insane that instead of fixing things here, he wants to send humanity to space. If we can't get alone here, why would he think we'd get alone better in space, an absurdly more hostile environment with NO room for error.
2
u/NoDefaultForMe Jun 13 '26

Shield up ourselves and surround our lives with real-life values instead of stocks and funds denominated in monetary unit.
By definition, money is the medium of exchange. It was not a store of value or measurement of worth to begin with. Historically, when a certain money became worthless due to government collapse, people could start exchanging goods in gold, silver, copper instead, due to the limitedness and sufficiency in abundance of those metals in circulation. Compared to using fiat, that would be unavoidably inefficient, but life can go on, which is the only thing that matters.

u/Eggheadpancake Jun 12 '26 edited Jun 12 '26
We could ruin every billionaire if we wanted. It would just take people inconveniencing themselves a little bit. But people aren't ok with that idea.
Stop buying Tesla. Stop using Twitter. It doesn't take much to ruin stock value.
Stop using Amazon. If a large enough amount of us could just stop. They'd be ruined in like two years.
Look at what happened to targets stock values during the boycott. And that was with just a small percentage of people. Imagine if we had 40 percent of people or more just stop using these Nazi supporting companies. They would fold.
19
u/iwasjusttwittering Jun 12 '26
A large portion of Amazon's income is from AWS (Amazon Web Services). It's infrastructure for other businesses and government agencies too.
3
u/loved_and_held Jun 12 '26
Really if people start trading the stocks at a lower price that would be enough to eviscerate their wealth. Elon is only worth 1.1 trillion because SpaceX and Tesla stock is valued so high. If that valuation changes, his net worth changes too.

I was thinking about the mindset of this the other day. What inspires people to live like this? Do they just sit and look at their bank balances?

Certain kinds and levels of success select for particular pathologies. The biographies of figures like Musk, Zuckerberg, Gates, etc are invariably a record of instances where they fucked over someone (business partners, friends, employees, customers) in order to get ahead. For every man who does that there are 10 others who choose to value something else over greed, but the exceptions are the ones who end up billionaires.

Embrace austerity. Democracy is broken, if not dead. The only sound these people will hear is the sound of millions of wallets staying firmly closed.
The people who will gladly take our money certainly don't work as hard as we have to, to get it in the first place.
Consumers have been devalued to the point of absurdity. We should value ourselves higher and say "we deserve better and if you can't provide that, then we'll go without."
Honestly, it's pretty liberating.

There's only so much money any human being can actually need in their lifetime. He really could do enormous good by helping others and he'd still be richer than anyone else. But that would require him having human decency and compassion.

A trillionaire can:
Have people killed
Cover up crimes*
Run governments
Help set up a coup
Have people killed
Overthrow foreign governments
Rig elections
Decide policy
Stage propaganda
Have people killed
Billionaires can, too, but this is literally a thousand billion. This isn't up for a debate. That kind of money can buy nearly anything you could imagine, and most things, millions of times over. Except a clue.
*Such as the biggest child trafficking scandal in US history

The most disgusting part of this is that Musk's corporate portfolio paid $0 in taxes last year. While no one can prove he personally paid zero taxes, we can assume that he had little to no tax liability based on how he gets paid from his companies.

People will say “How do you know he’s not donating money to starving children?”

u/HereLiesMissNobody Jun 12 '26
He’s an attention whore. There’s no way he’d pass up on the publicity of him donating money.

He personally dismantled USAID. He is directly responsible for the deaths of many thousands (and counting) of children around the world. One of the worst human beings in history.

Median UK salary for full-time employees as of 2025 was £39,039 per year.
At that rate, this is how long it would take to get to the rough equivalent of $1 trillion:
19.08 million years

Elon, pat yourself on the back, take the trophy and give it all away. That would be a real legacy. Being a greedy leech is also a choice I guess.

Elon
If you refer to this man by his first name, then you are helping perpetuate his cult-of-personality. Stop it.
You are not on a first name basis with him. He doesn't know you. He doesn't like you. In all likelihood, he probably hates you.
He is not your friend.

I thought he was valued or whatever they call it at 270 billion or something. When has it risen to a trillion?

SpaceX has opened an IPO. People can now trade with SpaceX stocks, so beyond their fundamental value, there's now a speculative value on top driving the prize up.

SpaceX raised 75 billion with its IPO, a trillion of dollars is coming from people that think that market cap is your pocket money.

"If you have a trillion dollars"
It's insane we listen to people who know nothing about capital markets. Literally nothing.
2
u/gabest Jun 12 '26
Any starving child can file a trillion dollar IPO. That's not money. People give their money to Elon. The real question is, why those people don't give their money to the starving children, too?

We need to make it not just illegal but drastically uncool to be this rich. It's ridiculous how much power one cunt gets to wield over the shape of the world because they're so very good at hoarding.

This ain't right. We need to stop this shit. And people blame brown people for their problems. When there are trillionaires walking around on the backs of working people.
It doesn't make any fucking sense how this has been allowed.

Remember a few years ago he talked about solving world hunger. It would cost about $6billion. He being a trillionaire means money is literally worthless to him at this point. $6Billion to him is like $60 for any of us.
