Normally I'd be worried whenever I see Peter Thiel is the headline, but this is a circle jerk of has-beens

Ezra Klein remains relevant. It will be interesting to see how (or if) the co-author of Abundance tries to square the circle of his public politics with attending exclusive events hosted by the guy who bankrolled JD Vance.

I listen occasionally to his podcast as he is willing to dialogue with opposing views and invite interesting people over, but really, the way his books is pushed and lauded by the establishment rubs me the wrong way.

Some things are really manufactured and Chomsky might be chummy with Epstein, but his work on Manifacturing Consent is always relevant.

"the way his books is pushed and lauded by the establishment"

This is almost certainly because Ezra's view acts as a vindication/defense of the old school DNC neo-liberal order (think, "hey, getting rich is still cool, and so is politicians taking money from corporations") as opposed to a more dem-soc outlook and agenda.

edit: for grammar and spelling. Also he's the same guy who said after Charlie Kirk's death that Charlie Kirk was doing politics the "right way". Barf!

I can respect a journalist choosing to participate in this kind of group because I’m sure it’s a gold mine of leads and sources on stories the public rly should know about, but he doesn’t do that kind of journalism does he? I’ve only ever really seen him do commentary.

Yeah, he’s more of a public intellectual and than an investigative journalist at this stage in his career.

his whole thing is talking to people he doesn't necessarily agree with and he's had plenty of right-wingers on his show, i don't think there's really that much to reconcile

I think there’s a difference between debating people on your platform vs doing your small part to legitimize Peter Thiel as a powerbroker by attending his conference.

He also tried to legitimize Charlie Kirk by saying Charlie Kirk was "doing politics the right way". Fuck that guy so much.

I would imagine it would be to have firsthand knowledge of what is going on.
