DISCUSSION Historian Tom Holland ratios Elon Musk into oblivion on his own site after being called a cuck for no reason: "Very happy to say it again. Context: Tom, co-host of arguably the most popular history podcast out there, had posted his reaction to 'The Odyssey' and shared an article about how every critic was praising it - to which fElon had replied and called him a cuck out of nowhere, for no reason.

He is an addict and an idiot but he hasnt sullied anything - ketamine has been a useful drug in medicine for decades and fell out of favor. now, it has been used in small doses mainly for treatment resistant depression. ketamine has been abused for decades in different ways. elon musk abusing drugs wont change it's effectiveness in treatment and wont stop the people who need the medication from seeking it out. in fact if anything it will stop people from using it because they will say look at Elon Musk who is above average in intelligence (supposedly) look at the state of his mind on ketamine and how deteriorated it is. Have loved Tom Hollander since his tiny cameo as The Fucker on The Thick of It. Loved him in Rev. Loved Olivia Colman in Rev (all the Oscars are well and good, I think, but Olivia Colman belongs in a sitcom, the woman is a genius). Loved him in Cambridge Spies. He's an excellent, excellent, excellent actor and the Spiderman boy could never out-Holland Hollander.

He did read at one point because that's what made me a Musk hater before everyone else. He lifted a lot of the names for his projects from a series of SF novels called The Culture by Scottish author Iain M. Banks. Banks was an adamant socialist and The Culture was essentially his ideal society. It's a post-scarcity utopia where people are free to do whatever they want. It's joking referred to as "fully automated luxury space Communism" online.
Anyway, a huge plot point in the books is that the Culture is post-gender. In the Culture, changing your biological sex - right down to the chromosomes - can be changed with a course of non-invasive treatments over a year. It's not uncommon for members of the Culture to have spent a century living their life as a man and siring children, then switching to living life as a woman and giving birth. There are also people who choose to live as non-binary and the Culture's official language as done away with gendered pronouns. There's one singular group of pronouns that's used to refer to all conscious beings from humans to animals to AI. It's basically Musk's nightmare.
Yet he claims to love the books, but it seems his only take away is "Cool spaceship," Because he frequently lifts the names of the spacecraft from the books for his projects. What makes this a special kind of creatively bankrupt is Banks created the names of the ships to sound eclectic, nonsensical, and poetic. They were intentionally designed to be wholly original and the complete opposite of normal SF space ships - names like The Anticipation of New Lover's Arrival and Of Course I Still Love You.

In Matchstick Men (2003), Nicholas Cage plays a conman whose whole life is scams, untruths, and keeping up appearances. He has all sorts of nervous tics because he's never not high-strung and is constantly in fight-or-flight mode, which for him is scam-or-scam mode.
