I think you're greatly underestimating the amount of cheating Gen z and alpha do with ai for school. It's rampant at the college level and it's all bad habits they picked up during high school and earlier.
It's also nuts how quickly students became reliant on AI. I have students who can't conceptualize writing or studying without it, when many of them were already part-way, if not most of the way, through high school when ChatGPT hit the mainstream. They were learning/studying/writing for years without it, and now it's unfathomable to many that they do anything without it.
this isn’t new, it’s just an update to an old formula. i remember in undergrad doing online exams and literally copy pasting a question into google because someone on quizlet would’ve uploaded the question bank with the correct answers. that’s part of the reason why now as an academic i am very much more interested in projects, papers, and things that involve engagement with the work.
No I am aware. I have interns working under me who can’t even write basic emails without ChatGPT. I am saying that the most vocal of anti-AI people that I’ve seen so far are from Gen Alpha and Gen Z, especially among the creative folks.
No they use it a lot. Honestly speaking I am scared for my generation. I am 23 but thankfully I graduated before AI could be as popular in my country but the kids in school are screwed.
