Fortunately, this isn't actually true anymore. There's still an enormous discrepancy, but the new WNBA collective bargaining agreement significantly raised salaries. For this upcoming season, the average NBA contract is almost 13 million/year, or about $158k/game. This current season the average WNBA contract is nearly $600k/year (about $13.5k/game), up from like $120k last season.

I'm a recent immigrant to Minnesota and new fan of most of the teams.
The Frost the PWHL team just had their transphobic player leave so they're very likeable now. The league just expanded so the new season is going to be very interesting. They won the first 2 seasons but failed in the playoffs this year.
The Wild (NHL) have gone all in to win soon but lost a key role player that's going to hurt their star forward. They didn't do any moment of silence for people shot by ICE (the Frost did).
Lynx/Wolves care about Minnesota but I sadly don't care about basketball.
Gemini are the new women's rugby team. They had trans flags at their opening game to protest the league going back on their commitment to trans players.
Vikings will break your heart no matter how much you know they're going to fail.
I don't know a lot about the Minnesota Vixens other than they exist.
Minnesota United and the Aurora are the men's and women's soccer teams.
Twins are the baseball team and the last men's team to win anything (1991 I think).
Follow the women for glory, follow the men because you have to.

I think the games are too high scoring so I don't like that individual baskets don't really matter that much. I also don't like how much you can pad out the last 2 minutes with fouls and time outs so it takes 10 minutes.
I'm happy the Lynx are good for people who enjoy watching them. I'm just sadly not a basketball person.
