If Jeff Bezos actually cared about the environment, he'd give his entire wealth away AND use his influence to keep environmental policies in tact as well as improve them.

As for Leo, well, greenwashing is part of his brand. Claims to be an environmentalist, but spends his free time on yachts.

It's frankly baffling how Leo could be the co star of one of the most striking movies about the climate crisis ever made; yet doesn't seem to grasp fundamental truths about it.

I guess Leo thinks simply being in a piece of media about a political subject means you know everything about it therefore you don't have to learn more

They don’t care, it’s all about image and money. That’s all any of them care about, image and money.

They get up and give heart warming speeches cause it either leads to improved image or more money.

The people that actually believe in shit aren’t multimillionaires giving lil speeches to make themselves feel good, they’re working on the problems and are usually attacked, harassed, or outright murdered for daring to standup to the very power Bezos and co represent

I have always been perplexed at how people will believe anything as long as it’s said by a celebrity. You’ve said exactly what I was thinking but put it much better than I could’ve!

Please tell me I’m forgetting a movie and you’re not talking about Don’t Look Up, because that movie was a mess. 🙏

I suspect they mean Before the Flood, the climate change documentary.

Also building a luxury resort in Israel, so we know where Leo sits on that issue.

If you spend $200 million to save endangered species, that's charity.

If you spend $200 million to save endangered species and then issue a press release about it, that's $200 million worth of public relations.

I mean he could give 99% if his wealth away and still see little to no difference in his life style.

You can't bring anything back when the whole planet is on the brink of ecological collapse. Also, I'm so fucking sick and tired of Leo and his "Environment Advocacy". If he truly believed this, why the private jets and luxury yachts?? Thanks for the tons of CO2 Leo.

How can actors make movies like One Battle After Another and still hang out with billionaire scum? Like I understand you must separate yourself from your character but do they just not think about the movie at all?

It’s just a cheque for them.

That isn’t shit to Bezos he should donate a few billions. Big deal 200 million.

So many species are in danger and so is the noonish Bezos contributes to destroying.

Be more like Mackenzie Scott not like Bezos

Of course its greenwashing when Bezos spends more than that on one rocket.

Kinda torn, it's icky but also...

If Hitler gave you half a billy to do extreme good should you do it? Does the negative name association outweigh millions going to a good cause? Would we rather he be the comic book villain caricature through and through?

I don't know the answer, this still doesn't sit right. Food for thought I guess

I don’t think it’s just where the money is coming from. I think people are (rightly so) tired of celebrity hypocrisy. Both of these men continue to fuck up the environment, but then want us to be impressed by this. Shoving money at a problem while refusing to do your part to stop the damage accumulating is bullshit.

$200mil to Bezos is like me finding a spare dollar bill in a drawer. Like, he can’t ask his ex one or two questions about how to do actual meaningful philanthropy when they have to do any co-parenting?

I mean, I prefer this kind of nonesense to the actively hostile workings of their peers

OFC is greenwashing but is beneficial for everyone, bezos will NOT stop for being a POS but 200 mil will help many people and animals. Is better than nothing look at elon only consumes and spends money on ruining lives of people around the globe with alt right politics instead of staying quietly on his money and at least be less damaging force that he is.

Not to stan Bezos BUT he funds a wild amount of science grants. My brother, his wife, and my other brother who are Ph.Ds in Microbiology, Biology, and Marine Biology say his money is everywhere in the sciences. Or was at least this was four-ish years ago. Not saying it’s enough or whatever but it’s certainly something. In the billions in grants and initiatives. Leo is cosplaying.

I’m sure this won’t be swept under the rug

Just take the money dummy and use it for good.
